UN Global Gun Ban?

With regards to other weapons as murder tools, I believe Canada exceeds the rate of the Americans.

However, there is something like 600x as many gun deaths.

Would that depend on the area, for example in Glasgow it had or still has a highier murder rate than New York, so when you think about it its not that illogical. Must murders in Glasgow are knife related not gun related.

The rate of crime in Canada could merely be the fact that Canadians consume 3x as much marijuana on average vs any other western country. Whereas a larger percentage of American crime would be gun violence.

Another example, Toronto is one of our biggest cities. In one of the past couple years, there were something like 4 or 5 people killed accidentally in gun violence, and it was nicknamed the "year of the gun". Though, there are cafes in T dot where you can smoke weed openly.

Londons worse than that.

But the GUN crime rate, hmm?

Guns cause far more crimes than they prevent.

Now ist is certainly impossible to prove that statement 😆

ya, thats sort of exactly what I mean. There could be other crimes that are not gun related that drive up the crime rate in other countries, but when guns are concerned, its not even close.

However, I share the same skepticism as you do with regards to the stat. I'd like to see proof that Canada's crime rate is higher than America's, and some breakdown of types of crime.

lol, good. I'm glad Toronto is a relatively safe place to live. Afaik Winnipeg is the worst place in Canada, and that is all native related. Regardless, one of the problems with our political system these days is the focus on hot button issues (canada at least) and native or immigrant/minority youth gangs never seem to be that hot button issue. LOL even after some innocent kids got shot dead in downtown TO on boxing day, the political debate quickly reduced to gun control as opposed to dealing with gang violence and proliferation.

You can say that again.

Well heres another interesting fact, some British police are actually moving to Canada because they actually think that Canadian system of policing is better. The Canadian police are looking for recruits and they're getting them.

The only problems I've had with cops have been drug related, and it is hardly their fault that laws are the way they are.

I know people personally who have been abused by police officers, and it comes up on the news occasionally, but I would say we have good cops.

I wish I knew more about this kind of stuff...

Sigh, the less you know the less it will bother you... Not sure how far you want to go into that.

I don't know much about the cops in Canada but in the cities of the U.S. cops are often their own gang.

I wouldn't use gang, simply because I would say there are different social issues that lead an individual to be a gang member than to become a police officer, but I wouldn't argue with the intent.

In Canada, even in cases of murderous terrorism, the RCMP (our feds) will lie and cover up to save its own ass.

In the prairies there were/are cases of cops taking drunk natives out into the winter nights and just leaving them to die, which was massively covered up.

From what I have seen of American police in gang neighborhoods (which I assume would be similar to Canadian police in gang neighborhoods [although we have very few at this point]) are oppressively violent and confrontational. From the point of view that they are another group who fight to protect their own in violent neighborhoods (or even become corrupt and begin profiting from said neighborhoods) then ya, I can totally see them as a gang.

I was just thinking about this. It seems to me that sometimes Canadians want to be like Americans so much that 4 or 5 people get shot and they are calling it year of the gun. I looked up T-dot on Youtube and I wanst ****ing impressed. Canadian rappers talking about how grimey their hoods are....I mean c'mon man. 😬
