Like i said earlier. "300" just looks good. Meaning visually. If it weren't for it's visual look, it would've been a normal epic movie unlike the sweeping "Gladiator" or the monumental "Braveheart"

Seriously, ok imagine "300" visually looking like a regular movie, no graphics. Cut out all the CGI and look at it with just the standard movie camera look. It'd be a mediocre movie. "300"'s visuals carried it all the way. And as fantastic as the movie looked visually, entirely candy-coating the normalcy of the movie with CGI won't help it's story. And just like with video and PC games, graphics don't make it what it is. Content does.

I did like Xerxes and Golum on steroids characters though.

I saw a preview screening last night, and what can I say, I enjoyed every second.

Quite a few chunks of hammy dialogue, terrible narration from one of the Spartan soldiers and some pretty needless nude/sex scenes aside, it's really just about suspending disbelief for a couple of hours and getting swept up in the amazing (and mostly slow-motion) battle sequences, which is what it's all about, obviously.

Buckets and buckets of blood, mountains of severed limbs and decapitated heads, and the fantastical mixture of ancient exotic soldiers, monsters, and animals that make up the ridiculously huge Persian army getting their asses absolutely handed to them by the 300 Spartans (who are so frigging cool they even make the He-Man-esque fur speedos and crimson cloaks they rock throughout the movie look stylish). It's hard not to get caught up in the blood-lust.

it arrived today...just finished the xerxes story...very good so far...the beating of "tripod" is pretty brutal...as is the description of how Dienekes got his scar...

some of the dialogue is funny as well..."they(the crows) eat out mens assholes...although God only knows why"...hahaha...

Wow, I loved this movie. Amazing! The scene were he gets the scar on his eye is priceless!

I won't be seeing this until DVD.

Sucks for you. Nothing like experiencing this movie in particular in the theater.
