The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

Started by Lucius3,287 pages

As someone that designs book covers for a living, I can tell you that the author is the person that writes the backmatter text. I can also tell you that the FOTJ covers are suckage. A few layers slapped together with the Cutout filter in Photoshop.

Do you... do you do anything else for a living, besides book covers?

I'm a lensmaker at Lenscrafters. I grind lenses in the back. My book cover work is on a contract basis, not consistent enough to live off of. I guess I don't design book covers for a living per say, but it is part of my VCD degree.

Ah. Ever thought of combing the two?

VCD Degree? Do you plan on being unemployed after college?

Three-time Oscar-nominated director Ridley Scott is set to helm a follow up to his own ground-breaking 1982 science fiction classic "Blade Runner" for Warner Bros-based financing and production company Alcon Entertainment ("The Blind Side," "The Book of Eli"😉.

Alcon co-founders and co-Chief Executive Officers Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove will produce with Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin, along with Ridley Scott. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO's of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers.

The filmmakers have not yet revealed whether the theatrical project will be a prequel or sequel to the renowned original.

Alcon and Yorkin recently announced that they are partnering to produce "Blade Runner" theatrical sequels and prequels, in addition to all television and interactive productions.

Visual Communication Design is actually a rather viable degree. Certainly it's better than some worthless Liberal Arts degree like Philosophy or Psychology. I've already had an internship, and I work contract for a major publisher. They like my work so much that I'm actually going to be training on site with them. They have also paid for several of my classes. I'm looking real good for a solid job in the industry making 40k in a year.

Lovely, constructing my next battlezone response will consume the next several hours...

Blade Runner sucked.

Like, using the same grinding techniques to carve out better optics on book covers. Maybe make them gas permeable.

There is a scientific term for the cascade of neurotransmitters and brief pulses of electricity that should be coursing through your brain right now: "Man, fuck that."

In conclusion, I laughed so hard at the following series of posts that my laptop fell onto my bed:

Alas, I'll probably be.

I got a friend that just graduated from UW with a dual degree in Philosophy and Psychology. He's got no job, but hey at least he's able to work in a lab for free and run subjects through studies on the nature of stereotypes... rite?

Pre-medicine at the moment. I haven't decided my major, but it's either Microbiology or Neuroscience, or South Asian Studies. Currently, I'm on track to minoring in South Asian Studies, but that may become my major if I take four semesters of Hindi.

Staying up until 2 in the morning to read Harry Potter fanfiction and neo-gothic internet horror (creepypasta) the day before moving into the dorms: good decision, or best decision?

Edit: For those who are interested:
Harry Potter

The Dionaea House

First night in my first dorm we played with nerfguns.

I hope you actually are South Asian, because this decision shouldn't be divided with that option.
