Only because I didn't let you reject it.

Aside, jesus CHRIST that song sucks ass.

If by "that song" you mean "any song that isn't Journey's that is enjoyed by Nephthys of KMC" then yes, I'd agree. Don't besmirch fvcking Journey. They're an American icon and that automatically makes them better than anything you like. sneer

No, I meant the Journey song from the last page.

I mean, at least the Glee one was actually pretty good and not completely retarded.

My experience when it comes to listening to Journey is pretty much limited to the few of their songs that were played during episodes of The Sopranos 😐 but I will say that I thought this was pretty badass when I heard it:

Both are Journey songs and both were on the last page. 😬

and not completely retarded.

Leave the works of Christopher Nolan out of this!

"Don't Stop Believin'" is all over the fvcking place in America. White Sox, San Francisco Giants, The Sopranos, etc. Nielson Soundscan did the numbers and it's the most downloaded song of the 20th century. 😬

Suffice it to say I hear it all the damn time and it's not even close to being their best song.

"Wheel in the Sky" is all right, but there are a lot better obscure tracks from them. What sort of thing do you look for in a rock song or song in general? I'll see if I can pick some out for you.

Yes, but one was actually sung competently and the other was sung by Journey. 😬

Lol, its the birth of a million fan fics recorded for my viewing pleasure.

Steve Perry is regarded by musicians and laymen alike as being one of the finest singers in rock history with an extensive range and technical abilities.

The idea that you would place a bunch of autotuned teenage pricks on par with or above the Great Man in terms of singing might bother me if I didn't know you were trying to bother me. 131

It's just interesting how illogical people get when they throw emotions into the mix.

To be truthful, I actually did enjoy their song more than his. Too 80's for my taste.

Plus despite how I joke, sweaty men really aren't my thing. Especially with hair that bad.

So then what sort of artists do you listen to?

I'm not sure if you've ever been to an actual concert, but sweat is an inexorable part of it. 😬

Indeed, it also appeared in an episode of Scrubs and it was actually kind of bizarrely implemented in The Sopranos (final scene where Tony Soprano seemingly gets shot at the end).

Well I've literally only ever heard five of their songs and I'd probably rank them in the following order:

1. Wheel in the Sky
2. Open Arms
3. Don't Stop Believing
4. Oh, Sherry
5. Mother Father
6. and now the song on the last page lol

...so it's quite possible that I do actually favour the more mainstream stuff over their obscure works lol.

I'm more of a casual fan of the genre of music and I'd say any aspect of it has the capacity to be musically appealing though, so I'd probably be quite hard to pick them out for though there's a good chance I'd like any of what you consider to be their best stuff.

I dunno. I'm not too into music.

Homestuck musics always good.

For the casual fan, that list isn't too far out of order. "Open Arms" was actually their highest charted release in the '80s, "Don't Stop Believin'" didn't get huge until the 2000s.

"Mother, Father" is probably their most vocally demanding song and is a fan favorite. Their drummer, Deen Castronovo, currently tackles the song lovelive and does an incredible job of it.

Spoiler:
"Oh Sherrie" is a Perry solo song, for the record.

I guess my question is do you prefer ballads or rock songs? Guitar-driven or vocal-driven songs? Songs that rely on extensive vocal harmonies or not? Uplifting or melancholy?

Oh right definitely ballads, vocal-driven. Either or on the latter two.

You've never heard Seperate Ways?

I have now. 😄

edit - Oh wait yeah I've definitely heard this before lol.

Journey's catalog is fairly extensive and they're mostly known for their ballads, so we'll see what these do for you.

If He Should Break Your Heart is probably my favorite song of theirs. It was released in 1996 and Perry's voice had lost substantial range, but he could still carry a tune and the rasp and warmth really fit the tone. It's not a conventional ballad and more of a mid-tempo rocker but between Perry's voice and Neal's fretwork, it's a classic.

Why Can't This Night Go On Forever is probably my favorite Journey ballad. Features some dated '80s keyboards, but Perry's simply on fire here. He hits some ridiculous high notes and the highlight is the outro in which he duels with Neal's guitar.

Easy To Fall is another great one; it's much more of a conventional ballad in terms of tempo and melody than IHSBYH. It's a bittersweet song and the harmonies are really moving, not to mention one badass guitar solo. This is also from Trial By Fire, like IHSBYH.

There are dozens of other ones that would work just as well, but let's see what you make of these.

I'll also throw in To Whom It May Concern and Tantra from the new album Eclipse for their deeper lyrical content and stunning vocals.

You've never heard Seperate Ways?

You a fan?

Alright I've listened to all five and I'd say the Arnel Pineda ones are probably my favorites; the music in both kind of immediately grabbed me from the beginning before the vocals even began and I thought they both had catchier and more powerful choruses (coming to think about it while I'm probably more of a ballad fan in general, I think with a band like Journey I'd be more partial to their more high tempo songs) though I liked If He Should Break Your Heart and Easy To Fall as well (Why Can't This Night Go On Forever being the only one I didn't really like at all).

All right, that helps me refine my search. So you're more interested in songs that feature powerful vocals, strong choruses, catchy melodies, and a moderately fast tempo.

Vocally, do you prefer Pineda's work to that of Perry in the songs I provided?
