The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

My problem with the One Sith era is with concept. From what I've heard its actually a pretty kick-ass series and shaped itself into a respectable part of the mythos. But man does it take a dump on Luke and co. The order, freedom and peace that they worked so fricking hard to create and preserve is just completely undone inside 1 or 2 generations and the Sith control the galaxy again. Its like everything Luke did to fight the darkside was completely pointless.

But of course most post-Endor stuff is guilty of this. After the collapse of the Empire the universe kind of went to shit. It really puts a damper on the ending of Jedi knowing how many wars and how many trillions would die in the following 40 years.

Yes, but doesn't the thought of LucasArts revenue increasing balance it all out?

I feel better knowing that GL's keeping his mansion warm by burning hundreds.

Jedi are imbeciles? They are self-crippled fools that make the Federation of Planets seem aggressive? They are terrified idiots afraid to accept that they have the power to do some crazy shit, so they run away from it like spineless children instead of simply accepting this fact and being responsible about it? Really, Jedi only win because the Sith are chaotic stupid.

This kind of hatred for a fictional order of monk-knights would make Freud stare.

I'm curious, philosophically, how would you make the Jedi Order better?

No idea; as far as I'm concerned the Jedi are basically fucked.

And Freud is a laughing stock of the academic community. The old fool can stare all he likes.

Freud would have a field day with Star Wars. The guy had no imagination--lightsabers are Power Dicks, Deaths Stars are Ego Testicles, the Force is a metaphor for anal sex, Anakin was born from anal sex, etc.

The above quote from Kyp and Zampano's thread in the Literature & Expanded Universe sections offer some insight into explanations to what Gideon's saying. Its not necessarily that he's holding back.

This is weak sauce, attempting to gloss over the fundamental flaws of an universe, created by multiple authors, who - at least partially - don't give a damn about the works of their colleagues.

Even the quote of Kyp ignores material previously established canon: Kyp did never lift the ship alone, but was aided by Exar Kun's spirit and the unique nature of the temples on Yavin 4, according to the Jedi Academy trilogy, which happens to be the original source on the subject.

So thanks for - essentially - proving my point. 😉

There is nothing quite so amusing as watching the Federal Government try and block US ISPs from visiting websites through the use of an injunction. Do these judges not understand that if I want to visit a website, and they tell me I can't, that I'm just going to activate a proxy in some other part of the world and completely bypass the firewall against US users?

Well........ you're welcome?

Oh snap, shits going down in the VG section!

(nah, not really)

interesting

I believe I understand from whence the General comes {in that some things work best when relatively simply and there isn't always a need for things to be darker and edgier!with moral ambiguity}, but SW actually does have that.

Spoiler:
Or are we not allowed to discuss the moral ambiguity within the films anymore? Haven't kept track of the Authority's recent decisions with respect to SW!film morality.

I don't see what the problem is (well I do, I just don't care). I quite like the idea of the Empire as not 'Always Chaotic Evil.' Its an interesting and fresh setting for the mythos.

Also you should at least watch the Game of Thrones TV series.

I usually find it hard to have a strong hatred of someone or something without even feigned reasons, much less valid reasons.

And Freud is a laughing stock of the academic community. The old fool can stare all he likes.

Again, either liberal use of seemingly angry words or genuine contempt. Freud's theory might not be scientific in that it's not falsifiable and Victorian era women who experienced sexual abuse may not present the best group to form a complete and cohesive discipline of the inner mind with, but ultimately even he could see a disdainful barrage against the Jedi Order as more than just a casual opinion.

The ball's in your court. You can offer to counter my observation with some personal feelings/arguments on your part, or ignore it. It's up to you.

You left out the picture and the wild accusations of fanboyism. I'm beginning to suspect that you're not really Janus. mmm

Well to be fair to Lucas has always said the Skywalker story ends at ROTJ. And that Luke never gets married, the Emporer never gets cloned e.t.c e.t.c.

So all the post ROTJ contradictory material is not the fault of Lucas.

Well, if he cared more about his story, he would have done something about it. He came in randomly to have the writers kill off Anakin Solo even though he had the most plot development just so his Anakin will be remembered.

HAS CONQUERED WRITER'S BLOCK!

(but not distraction)

Hows Annie?

awecreep

Hows Annie?!

laughing

HOWS ANNIE?!

Twin Peaks ending was so good.

The Walking Dead season opening was so good.

Zombies are lame.

They're not 'zombies', they're the Victus Mortuus, or even mobilis corpus corporis. Your politically incorrect ways have gone on not far enough.
