Actually the original adventures probably didnt happen now because JJ Abram's movie completely changed Star Trek history.I thought it was a good movie. Much betteroo than most of the other Star Trek movies made to date. But I didnt like the whole changing timeline thing.
The movie couldnt decide if it was a prequel or a reboot, and ended up being both (sort of). Just make it one or the other I say.
my first reaction: SQUEEE!
my second reaction: *Googles*
my third reaction: *cautiously optimistic*
I'm all in favor of an increased media profile, and a film will certainly achieve that. In general, I've found that Doctor Who fans (or "Whovians"😉 are unbearably elitist and smug. The number of times I've read dismissive posts about "the casual viewer" in the less than 3 months of online participation in the franchise is staggering.
Spoiler:
(Unsurprisingly, then, Ush's posts in the Doctor Who thread typify the fandom.)

No. It is unequivocally a different timeline.
Because history was changed right?? As in the orginal timeline with the original adventures has been wiped out of existence hasn't it? Thats how I understood it. Like in Back to the Future 2.

So what happens with the destruction of the Kelvin is the creation of an alternative timeline, but what happens to the prime timeline after Nero leaves it? Does it continue or does it wink out of existence once he goes back and creates this new timeline.Bob: It continues. According to the most successful, most tested scientific theory ever, quantum mechanics, it continues.
Me neither tbh

If you watch that episode in its entirety, and offer honest feedback, I will endeavor to track down a media experience of your choice of comparable duration.

No, she should have told everybody and gotten those responsible arrested. My heart goes out to her but there's a reason that for every 1 or so suicides, you get hundreds or thousands of other kids dealing with the pressures. Doing nothing though, would be as crazy as creating laws. There needs to be a middle ground.

C'mon, son. 🙄
Damn straight; that's what my parents did when I was bullied, and when it got to the point where the bullies were too old to feel threatened by my parents, I started cracking heads. A suspension or two later and the cowards wouldn't touch me. What's the point in having parents if they're too stupid to protect you? The people at fault in that girl's scenario was the mom who is obviously retarded and the parents of the bullies, who obviously failed to raise their child right.

The other side of that argument is that this generation's kids aren't mentally tough enough to handle their business, especially with the rise of the internet and the exponential increase of cyberbullying. In that regard, there needs to be some serious measures taken but setting laws against this opens up a whole new can of worms.
On a side note, getting my Revan novel at 8AM. Also, Assassins Creed Revelations

Cyberbullying doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, tbh. I don't understand how one can be bullied in an environment that they have complete control over, as well as the ability to fight evenly. The internet is the ultimate leveling of the field.

As long as you concede that someone has to do something, we can at least have the conversation. I agree that law is the wrong venue, but for activists it is usually the most effective.
I don't think anyone in this particular thread has ever said nothing should be done. "Sucking it up" would count as doing something, as well.
