This is just imo, but those are my initial feelings. I don't see how they could have done it better. A fantastic cast all delivering their best, Whedon wrote a ****ing tight script and the action is better than all the previous Marvel movies. Top notch all-around.
Even Loki was intimidating after the pimpslapping Thor gave him last movie.
The only downside was the 3D, which was distracting and fake-looking quite abit. I don't recommend the 3D.

No not better than TDK. I also prefer the original Iron Man, and X-Men First Class. Those movies all worked because they made them in the real world and sort of believable. But Avengers is the most NerdTastic fun for superhero fans that I've ever seen on the big screen.
