Legend of the Galactic Heroes is the greatest space opera ever, hands down. After seeing the finale I felt compelled to point that out as a matter of principle.
Whereas Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a glorious 110 episode epic about the rise and fall of the greatest heroes of the two nations of humanity, mirroring the underlying theme of Autocracy vs Democracy.
It really is a testament to the writing how unappealing it makes having the right to vote look.
Hey neph, if you're still having laptop cooling troubles, here's my fix:
Balance the laptop on a fan pointed upwards, thus increasing the airflow through the cooling system. I've got a clip-on fan that's exactly the right size; a box-fan would also be a good fix. This is effective enough to enable 6+ hour sessions of Civ 4, where even 30 minutes on my bed (w/o fan) is enough to force a shutdown.
Yeah, I'm seriously optimistic now.

Thanks, I brought a cheap cooling mat but i don't think it did much.
I think the problem was more that my laptop just couldn't handle the games. I wasn't a problem with the heat I don't think, it's shutdown while not that hot at all. Apparantly what was happening was that I didn't have nearly enough dedicated memory in my graphics card. I thought I had 6 gb, but that was computer memory, not dedicated memory, so..... 😬
I don't actually know what dedicated memory is though.
