SWTOR is annoying to run, mostly because the engine ingame doesn't get along with very many things, especially AMD cards. It haaaaates those. But seems to work fine on high-end nVidia ones. Though the best are pretty expensive, so thank god I have money to throw around.
I have an AMD card and zero issues with the game.
Of course, I have an HD 5830, so that may be part of it.
No no. My laptop uses some sort of AMD and can't run TOR properly. My main desktop with the 690 is perfectly fine. XD
I could imagine some sort of Versus forum guild on TOR.. Oh god.. We'd just sit around on Korriban arguing about who could kill who while sitting on the heads of the statues watching the new players charge around.

Leaving aside that most laptops just suck for gaming, there's no indication that what your laptop has is a decent AMD card either. I've used both brands with gaming desktops for years and while nVidia usually has the best benchmarks for their higher end products, AMD is much more affordable and sometimes they will surge ahead with a series of cards that beats nVidia's performance per dollar. I think your generalization was a bit confusing.
What I meant to say is, most of the problems I've seen in terms of TOR and the graphics issues, is either due to the game engine, or mostly AMD cards, compared to the number of complaints due to nVidia ones.
Of course until someone does some sort of cross-world census on everyone having graphical issues and finds out, it'd probably just a per machine basis.
In terms of cards I 100% agree. nVidia is fine if your trying to really push for teh ub3r graphicz0rs, whereas AMD is good for your money. It's like steak. You can buy nice steak, thats good for the money, or you can spend a ton for some sort of 5* chef made goujourn du'steak de la pissing onna plate von tomato de masterclass.

What's your rig running btw, Janus?I remember you listing its specs on RoK at some point. I don't remember where, though.
- AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor Black Edition
- SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5830 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
- Asus M4A79XTD EVO motherboard
- G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3
- Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA HD
- Razer Abyssus USB Wired Optical 3500 dpi High Precision Gaming Mouse
I need to throw in more RAM, just so I can say I did it, but otherwise it runs like a dream.
Very nice.
I saw this on Tigerdirect last week and couldn't help scooping it up.
I've already got a geforce 450 at home, so I think that within the next few months, I too might be rocking Battlefield 3. Can't wait.
It's mind-boggling how cheap PC parts are nowadays.

That is pretty hawt for that price. GIGABYTE boards are good. I prefer those and Asus personally. You're almost there to uber gaming rig land, my friend.
