The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

imo Lucien should be sent on a 100 year campaign of penance into the Eye of Terror.

That'll teach 'em.

Now if they froze murderers in carbonite Han Solo style, I wouldn't have a problem.

Actually, it's interesting that you're suggesting using cryogenics as a punishment. The good (aspie) nerds over at Lesswrong.com are wildly in favor of cryogenics as a default life-saving operation.

They suggest that it be considered as vital as life-insurance. Thoughts? (I have opinions but have to go to work in half an hour.)

As in freezing people until we can cure them or until medical science has advanced enough to heal them?

Yes.

Interesting. It seems too impractical to be widely used though.

How much does cyrogenics cost to perform and maintain? It could lead to elitism. Only those rich enough can cheat death.

Today a 300 lb football player asked me "who doesn't want a girlfriend?"

Neph, I never thought about classism as a dividing line for cryostasis. Since we're already struggling to get people to conceive of the procedure as a valid operation in the first place, wouldn't it be the poor who are first pressured into using it (at least until its proven to be safe)?

Not publicly.

😂

Blax: go to coursera.org and enroll in something appealing.

I get the feeling at times that Faunus considers me his surrogate kid-brother.

Anyway, where's all the useless LibArts classes, dude??

edit- Ah. "Modern European Mysticism and Psychological Thought". There we go.

You're the closest I have to an online calendar twin. Taller, socioeconomically disadvantaged, and curlier, but odd things happen.

I forget what you were doing as of the last time I saw a relevant post: work, part-time classes?

Hehehe.. I guess so. lol

I still work full-time. I was enrolled at my local community college and taking classes part-time in the Spring, but opted not to enroll for the fall and summer because of an Electrician Apprenticeship I was trying to get into.

After taking the proficiency exam for it in September, I got a notice last week letting me know that I've been hired, so in a couple months I'll quit this security gig and start my 5 year electrician apprenticeship. The work's gonna suck ass, but a $22.00/hour starting rate with guaranteed $2.00 raises every year for the next 5 years and full benefits is hard to sneer at.

How's life on your end, good sir?

When you guys talk about languages, do you say that you speak English or American?

I've never heard anyone say they speak 'American'.

Cool. Thanks, my mom wanted to know.

Tzeentch.

Kudos. When you're done you should look at work in New York; I'll have to double check, but my dad told me a few months back that the minimum pay for certain electrician jobs in the city is in the ballpark of $89 an hour, although I'm sure you can find comparable rates in Cali for whatever those jobs are.

I took this semester off from college for a number of reasons, the most digestible of which is that I can't seem to happily commit to a major. I'm using this time to get some informed opinions from helpful folks, get a couple of part-time jobs, volunteer where relevant, and get a better handle on finances in case my lofty but vacuous ambitions fall through.

Are you still banging that hot chick?

Priority contribution there, answer the damn question!

indeed

Well, got the opportunity to flip through the newly-released The Old Republic Encyclopedia. My initial impression is that it's one of the finest reference works ever released under the Star Wars brand name; some 400 pages long and brimming with both text and images.

Some tidbits that some of you may find interesting:

Of KotOR 2's Sith triumvirate, Kreia and Sion each receive one mention in the book, with Nihilus supreme at a total of 3

The Sith Empire is said to field "millions" of troops across "thousands" of planets

The Republic Navy is said to consist of "hundreds" of fleets

The fate of both Revan and Vitiate

Spoiler:
is left ambiguous
With respect to Vitiate, he is frequently described as "supremely powerful" (an appellation he shares with [Thanaton?]), "godlike", and an "avatar" of the dark side, not to mention "brilliant", "genius", "mastermind", etc. Page 148 explicitly refers to him as "history's most powerful dark side master." The book also claims it took a "fraction" of his powers to corrupt Revan and Malak "in mere moments."

Further details on his ritual are available: 8,000 Sith Lords gathered on Medriaas/Nathema to participate the ritual, which lasted ten days. Vitiate "orchestrated the sorcery" and the planet was "consumed by the largest dark side nexus the galaxy would ever see." The Emperor's Voice is said to "wield[s] the Emperor's incredible power and is capable of striking down anyone who displeases him."

Enjoy.

I've never known a franchise to one-up itself so much, and all for the sake of wanting to appear "cool".

I take it you avoid comic books like the plague, then?

Holy shit Vitiate just got a major boost. 😮

Do you think that quote supersedes Sidious'? Is Vitiate the new Most Powerful Sith?
