One possible objection is that counting both the front and back of Darth Bane may overstate his speed. However, the narration of Bane's training exercise is very clear that he is not minimizing surface area, and that both his front and back is in danger at any given time:

I had thought the narration described the rain being blown practically sideways by the force of the wind. I looked, and apparently I've mixed something up. Key point here: rain falls down. Relatively, the surface area looking down in that plane of even a very large man is not itself very large; in a fit man, it's effectively the depth of his torso at the chest by the breadth of his shoulders, just about everything above or below being redundant or irrelevant except when perturbing that cross section through movement or stance.
I don't have the data to attempt the math in good faith, but in keeping with the previous template - its merits or lack of notwithstanding - just scale up Ronnie Coleman at rest and take a view from above looking straight down his vertical axis. I'd bet that the bone structure and muscular development of a man built like that would swallow up his head even given the usual depths of spinal curvature. You might see his glutes poking out, maybe a little of his fingers, and depending on his stance you'd probably see the lateral aspects of his legs and the tips of his toes, feet angled outward. Give him a nice rigid stance, heels together, chest up, arms flat at his sides, and you wouldn't even have that.
Compare with the previously calculated surface area: removed from that is the length of his torso and the entirety of his skull and neck, arms and legs, fingers/toes and palms/soles, and nether regions. It ends up not being much to cover.
Now, obviously, Bane is not at rest. He assumes some less conveniently quantifiable stance to facilitate his movement. His arms and more of his legs are exposed, perhaps his body is inclined some. Perhaps the wind is blowing the rain somewhat laterally after all. Still, the lightsaber has to cover much less space than it needed to earlier, effectively a cross section taken from the transverse plane of the widest and deepest segment of his torso, plus whatever else is sticking out. It's still a consideration of primarily vertical components, so even with the action of his arms and legs there is going to be a great deal of redundancy. Furthermore, the text explicitly notes a shift to Form III sequences. We know from the Revenge of the Sith novelization that Soresu is contained and efficient, and we know further from the above text that Bane is twisting, twirling and contorting to evade those raindrops that make it past his lightsaber. I understand the conclusion reached earlier that such movement would effectively increase the surface area of his body and subsequently require that his lightsaber cover commensurately greater ground, but given the orientation of the model above (the defense needs to work upward) that's only the case if that movement occurs laterally. Lateral movement has to occur for the exertion to provide any sort of meaningful contribution to evasion of an object travelling vertically but only just enough, and it can be assumed that the position of his limbs is in every other respect deliberate to facilitate the most effective saber defense he can muster. If he moves it's because he needs to, and his lightsaber isn't chasing raindrops his body has to dodge. It also assumes that he needs to trace his steps with the blade of the lightsaber because he's exposed himself to the rain when the text should make it clear that that movement occurs to compensate for the fact that his lightsaber can't be everywhere at once. A measured pivot, for example ("twist"😉, would be almost entirely a rotation around a mostly vertical component. Same with a "twirl," which (if it refers to his body and not the saber) is probably just rotation around the vertical axis at his center of mass. A "contortion" is less easily defined in this context, but I don't find that necessary. The contribution of those bodily movements to evasion - the "work" being done, in this context - needs to be twitches, given the size and trajectory of the raindrops, to get him out of the way of whatever his lightsaber doesn't hit.

The surface area of a cross section of a lightsaber blade is thus .058 meters square.Bane is successful at using is .058 square meter rectangle to defend his entire 2.75 square meter body surface area from rainfall. Dividing the two numbers shows that the lightsaber has to cover an area 62.5 times larger than itself every second. That's 62.5 places for the lightsaber to be every second.

If Bane were simply moving his lightsaber up and down then it would travel 2*2 meters (head to toe and back again) in .014 seconds. This results in a speed of 285 m/s. Sadly, Bane is spinning and jumping and greatly increasing the distance his lightsaber has to travel before it can return to any given point. Let's say that the twists, twirls, and contortions triple the distance that the lightsaber has to go. Then we get a speed of 857 m/s, which is very close to the muzzle velocity of an M16 rifle.

Anyway, I think that, yes, while chaotic the rain was not falling sideways, it was travelling more down than across; Bane pirouetting around raindrops does not consequently require his lightsaber to cover more ground; and the effective surface area he needs to cover is much less than the total surface area of his body (technically, even in an entirely lateral plane, something as simple as turning his profile to the rain would ~halve his exposure). Like I said, nits. But also a general damning of you as a person.
Also would like to see your math on the last thing, but you can PM me that.

I personally think that Bane wouldn't be twisting and contorting his body to dodge drops the are going straight down. That doesn't make sense to me. If somethings going down you'd more effectively avoid it by moving out of the way, just twisting would only make it hit your lower body.
