Yup, he choked. Got too greedy.

Seriously, it was 1st down, with a minute on the clock and they were at like the 30-yard line. Why go for the risky throw?

Ah well- at least I can stop pretending to give a shit about football until next season.

No, the swordfighting in PotC was awesome.

Flashy and dramatic, yes. Accurate and sensible? No. In that regard, it's very much like the PT. Except you know, the PT fights didn't degrade into morons fighting on tightropes and wheel-like contraptions. Or throwing epees so hard that they stick into oak.

But then again I don't expect Disney would be so brave as to touch up lightsaber fights because the dull masses wouldn't appreciate it anyways.

Youtube, being literally the worst ****ing website on the internet, seems to have removed the "jump to this point in the video" feature when linking.

But ah well. 2:32 and 3:57.

I don't think the Broncos stand a chance against either of these teams but the 49ers are a nightmare match up for them because of their running quarterback and receiving core. The seahawks' strength lies in their run game and the Broncos' strength is run defense and the Seahawks don't really have receivers. If the Broncos offensive line can hold down the monstrous Seattle defensive line, I expect Manning to carve that team up.

Good point. Let me revise my statement:

Both are ****ing retarded and don't conform to common sense.

Also, Cracked hosted this:

Now Rob Roy's sword fighting, that was awesome.

Indeed. To be fair to Star Wars though, I'll admit that RotS was just exceptionally bad. The three main "fights" we saw in AotC weren't that ridiculous, nor was the TPM battles. RotS just went full-retard.

I've always felt that the Anakin/Dooku duel in AotC was the worst in the series. Yeah, it wasn't stupidly over-the-top like the Anakin/Kenobi duel, but the choreography was just plain bad and it had almost no emotion.

Sterility of emotion is a problem that I'd attribute to most of the PT. Not usually a fan of the OT jockstrap, but the atmosphere and tension surrounding the fights in the original trilogy were a lot better, I think.

Agreed. It was more about the drama and emotion than the flashiness. I can take rather slow, dramatic fights if the story offsets it. But when bad storytelling is already taking place, the fights aren't up to par in the PT.

So ****ing what? Nothing anyone does in PotC is accurate and sensible. Its a wacky action comedy about goddamn (undead) pirates.

Unlike the PT movies the swordfighting in PotC had actual passion and energy to it and were FUN. Remember FUN? Its what the PotC movies have that the PT movies completely lack. Blax got it completely right about the PT lacking all emotion. The Pirates movies actually had that though. Thats why they were great, because they were actually entertaining. You know, what a fight scene is supposed to be? Jackass punk gaylord.

Peyton being Peyton, and Brady choking in the playoffs like he has every year for a decade. A good day.

@Neph: If they are going to, with a stroke of a pen, decanonize the entire EU, there wouldn't be much use for this forum after that anyway, would there be? The only possible way for this forum to make sense after that is for everything written to still be admissable.

Why's that?

They'll just write new EU.

everything truejedi says is made of fail. lol.

Which is my point. Disney does not have a great track record for sensible, realistic or even slightly accurate swordplay. The PT was already atrocious enough. I'm simply indicating that it is not going to get any better. Since that's one of the primary draws of newer movies for me, I'm concerned. Star Wars isn't a 'wacky action comedy about goddamn Jedi'.

What a well thought out statement! "POTC IS FUN. PT IS NOT FUN. THEREFORE, FUN IS ALL THE MATTERS. FUN IS CLEARLY DERIVED FROM BEING WACKY, UNUSUAL, OR JUST PLAIN NONCONFORMING TO REASON!"

This directly refutes my issue that Disney has no track record of making sword fights that are close to being accurate. No, instead they have these over-the-top drawn out, contrived and fake looking dance sessions with weapons they call swordfights. The only way one could enjoy them is either by being an adolescent and/or having no discerning higher brain powers to speak of.

But I'm glad you find them fun.

The swordfights in both Pirates and the PT serve as accurate and reliable reflections of each respective franchise. PotC is silly, funny, lighthearted, kickass, fast-paced, historically and practically-innaccurate, magical, fun. And so are the swordfights.

The PT is wretched, soulless, unlikeable, frustrating, flashy, and meaningless. And so are the swordfights.

Return of the Jedi is a worse movie than The Phantom Menace.

Before the THX remastered edition, I would have disagreed with you.

How do you know? Its a whole new set of movies with a new director. Maybe it will be less serious. Why would that be such a bad thing? Some of the best works of fiction are just that. At least it would be enjoyable. No need to be so anal about it gramps.

It doesn't need to be to be though. The fact is that the Pirates movies were able to capture energy and fun and have entertaining choreography in their action scenes. If they can just put those elements into their fights then I'm not seeing a problem. Surely they can put drama in too.

Frankly I don't give a shit about it being 'realistic or 'accurate'. Realism is ****ing boring. People who care about that when it comes to Jedi lightsaber fights are losers.

Holy shit, loosen your panties bro. The Pirates fights were fun. They were fast-paced and had creative choreography. Being fun is what they were going for when they made them. It sounds like you want something more dramatic. Which is odd, since the SW movies have never been super serious R34LISM films. Flash ****ing Gordon dude.

I wasn't trying to refute your point because your point was stupid and flaccid. Some of the best duels in Star Wars now are over-the-top, drawn out, contrived and fake looking dance sessions with weapons. Personally I'd seriously rather have that then the soulless crap of the PT.

But I guess if you wanna be a prick about it, good job?
