Nope, the idea is not that death is a harm but rather the experience of dying. There is often pain associated with it, and anxiety or apprehension leading up to it.Additionally, David Benetar examines the fact that while "the presence of pain is bad and the presence of pleasure is good" the same symmetry does not seem to hold for the absence of pain and pleasure. To wit: "the absence of pain is good, even if that good is not enjoyed by anyone whereas the absence of pleasure is not bad unless there is someone for whom this absence is a deprivation."
It's a cool article, but I'm not 100% sure I'm allowed to reproduce it. You can probably find it on JSTOR under "Why it is better never to come into existence David Benetar"

Pretty much.
Basically the issue with Hord is that he had to have lived before 5000 BBY (the year of the Great Hyperspace War) because his best general, Kallig, was buried on Dromund Kaas. And Dromund Kaas' location was lost several centuries prior to that war. Until Vitiate rediscovered it. Oh and Hord couldn't have lived after Vitiate because duh.
The issue is that Hord fought Jedi despite the GHW being the first time the Jedi and Sith had met since 7000 BBY aka the Hundred-Year Darkness, the first war that sent Ajunta Pall and co running to Korriban like whipped puppies.
Well, maybe Hord fought in that war then. Nope. Becuase Kallig trained on Korriban, which as I just said, was only discovered after the HYD. So Hord had to have lived between 7000 and 5000 BBY, fought Jedi during that period, despite that being a complete retcon of SUPER FVCKING IMPORTANT HISTORY. The Jedi and Sith did not come into contact between those periods. Except apparently they did and then forgot about it.
It is a large plot hole.

Yeah, I'd agree. I remember we had this discussion awhile back.
Personally, I'd think making Tulak Hord one of the Jedi Exiles works best. It would allow him to fight against the Jedi and would explain why he used a lightsaber (protosaber) rather than a Sith sword.

I always thought since he fought the Jedi far out in the Outer Rim, no one noticed, or thought it was like pirates or something? Another possibility is the Jedi he fought were Dark Jedi, and not apart of the order itself.
You'd think the Jedi would notice thousands of Jedi getting killed in large battles.

Did Kallig fight in these battles against the Jedi or something?I mean, couldn't Hord have met him (and become the DLotS) after these battles?
He was Hords top general so yeah probably.
Doubtful. Dromund Kaas wouldn't be part of the Sith Empire at that point iirc.

Well if these battles were fought during the HYD then he wouldn't be.
😉

Ah, so Hord already ruled Kaas when these battles were fought? Yeah, that would be very problematic.
