So instead of saying "we contributed to this by buying into it" you're basically saying "it was all their fault including our own choices"? Yea, that's basically the post baby boomer generation attitude. While we're on the subject, let's also blame law school for being too expensive and not guaranteeing a job for graduates.
You're basically telling me that not changing the system or prospering in spite of it is the fault of the younger generation, not the older one effectively being their steward. If the system only rewards a small group, it is not a good working system . If the Baby Boomers were so awesome, why did they prosper at our expense? Or do you think individuals of latter generations are responsible for mass polluting the earth with manufacturing, eating up social security, and eliminating blue-collar jobs that will sustain people? Last I checked, the OFs had the monopoly on those trends.
That is not what I am saying. At all. I am spreading the blame (not evenly) while you are quick to shift blame on a generation that isn't yours. I blame those idiots who went under during the housing crisis just like I blame the banks. However it was the consumers who created the demand.
There's a difference between objectively spreading the blame around, and saying "everything bad that has happened is not our fault!"
And it's not that I think the BB are so awesome, it's that while they made mistakes, they did more for this country than any generation that followed it. And no, don't start making up excuses like "well they control everything so we COULDN'T do anything until they die out". That's an awful, and intellectually dishonest copout.
