Anime is gay. Except for Vampire Hunter D, Record of Lodoss War, and Lily CAT.

I don't disagree with this, by the way. I've found it exceedingly difficult to explain the merits of the original material to people who refuse to read. But the realized drama, often spectacular casting (Clive Mantle as Greatjon Umber), abundance of striking men, and (almost most of all) the music make it eminently enjoyable nonetheless.
The show needs to man up and give Nikolaj Coster-Waldau a full-frontal scene. Also Brienne. Preferably together.

And hey, I didn't say I don't like the show. I do. But I am also highly critical of it and some of the choices it's made.

Also, do you ever get the impression that someone in the writing staff read the books and hated Stannis? 😬

He's such a c*nt in the show.

Slow down on the cockgobbling then.

The OVA was ****ing win.

Want anime? Watch "Perfect Blue." Never have to watch anything else anime related again.

Eh. He's streamlined for the show enough that there are plenty of differences, but they give him a rather heroic moment when he leads the assault on King's Landing: the first man to scale the walls and get his hands dirty. Quibbles aside, he's not supposed to be a particularly likable guy. Tyrion's the one who gets a total makeover in the show in my opinion, but lots of people like him even better there so it seems cool.

It's true, Game of Thrones is frankly babied down for a wider audience than the books are.

Go and read Steven Erikson's "Malazan Book of the Fallen" series. You will start perceiving "Game of Thrones" plots as childrens games. And G.R.R. Martin as a writer who is handling his characters in a rather friendly fashion...

Or watch Hannibal. It should be renamed Hannibal wins: Everyone else dies.

So I decided to give Game of Thrones a chance, popped in an episode, and lasted about 20 minutes. This was basically Zombies+Renaissance Festival+porn.

At least get to the end of the first episode.

Also watch Hannibal.

Yea not into it. Just watched the first episode of True Detective just because. Now THAT is pretty interesting.

Sorry, but Gardens of the Moon is such a terrible book that I never felt compelled to read the rest of the series.

First season was rather nice. Had a lot of fun watching the puppet master making everyone else dance. Trying to catch up on "The Blacklist" at the moment, since James Spader is simply great.

20 minutes? So you missed the incest, attempted child murder and other fun stuff?

Actually, it's quite great - though it's hard to read, as Erikson throws the reader into the midst of the storyline. But there is so much fun stuff going on in the latter volumes, that its absolutely worth reading them.
