100 pounds? Get your rich ass out of here

I have minus money. Literally less than zero. Overdrawn by 500. At least I did last I checked. If someones charging me for stuff I've never seen I may well be truly up shitcreek.

But anyway, I guess I need to go talk to my bank and possibly change all my passwords???

When Tyrion confronts Tywin on what Gregor did "under his orders", it is one of the few times where his domineering authority over his son quivers. He denies ordering the rape and murder of Elia, and said something along the likes of "I did not know the manner of creature I had in Gregor Clegane at the time, only that he was a giant and fearless in battle. Since then I have learned to be more... Careful in my dealings with him."

Or something like that.

I'm looking at the page, the last bit isn't real. And if it were, the more reasonable interpretation contextually would be that Tywin intends to be more careful in his usage of Clegane so as to avoid stuff like the (resultant) decades-long strife between Dorne and the Rock. Also, Tywin has plenty of pretty fair conversations with Tyrion. I think book!Tywin has fewer freakouts than show!Tywin.

Spoiler:
As to the rest: If you take Jaime's word for it, he'd be good to take the Mountain. We already have Oberyn (yes I've seen above), whose choice of arms and armor doesn't necessarily dictate that a more gifted, powerful, quicker fighter couldn't make do with more conventional equipment. Bronn thinks he himself might have a chance, presumably with his usual gear, which should say a lot. The Hound has already gone toe to toe with Gregor and fought on even terms whilst deliberately avoiding attempts at blows to the head (with Gregor notably not affording him the same courtesy), so he probably has a shot. On a related note, I believe George R.R. Martin has suggested that Barristan Selmy and Arthur Dayne are peers with ordinary blades, Dayne taking the win if he has Dawn. I would think they're both basically on par with Jaime, if only in being so far ahead of just about everyone else.

An oddball candidate might be Brynden Tully, the Blackfish, with whom Jaime thinks (in their primes) he could have had a battle for the ages. One more might be Bronze Yohn Royce, who Sansa recalls smashing down Eddard Stark with Ice and Rodrik Cassel at the same time. I guess we could throw Garlan and Loras Tyrell in there, and maybe a young Robert Baratheon.

And not that I really think it says anything super relevant, but somebody (Jaime? Tyrion? I don't think it was Barristan...) refers to Simon Toyne, the Smiling Knight, as "the Mountain of his day," and "not as big but twice as mad" or something like that.

edit: That said though, I think the odds favor Gregor in most of those matchups. A lot of the knights from Robert's Rebellion and before are the benefactors of legendary reputations, and it's possible their abilities and exploits are inflated by people who hold them in the highest esteem relative to their replacements. But Clegane's not peerless, and the margins are slim either way.

Personally I never pictured Gregor smiling, ever. He seemed like some sort of automaton, or a troll. Just some sort of animal that rapes and kills without getting any real satisfaction from it.

He has his own dark sense of humor.
Spoiler:
Vargo Hoat (feeding him his own limbs), Oberyn Martell ("... like this."😉

Also, only Dayne might beat Gregor. And only due to his sword.

Maybe. I mean granted both it and Valyrian Steel are still somehow featless.

Normal blades? Not a contest. Gregor can take them all one on one.

According to Martin, Jamie could defeat Aragorn as he is "one of the great swordsmen of the history of Westeros" and yet he claims Gimli would defeat Gregor (who does not receive such an epithet).

Says it all really.

Martin needs to just bow down and worship Tolkien.

On another note though, Aragorn is pretty much the best swordsman around in LotR, though overall I'd defo give it to Legolas, especially after what happened in Desolation of Smaug. Not only is he a badass archer, but he's killing all kinds of ass with those blades.

And that look on his face when he finally gets injured.

Dear god, does anyone here speak English?

Martin also didn't think much of Aragorn as a fighter (He's also wrong, Aragorn would tear Jaime in half).

He said "maybe Gimli", because he wasn't sure.

The word of the author also means nothing. 👆

Spoiler:
Jaime is arrogant though. He thought he'd be able to easily kill Brienne and escape, and he was almost killed by her (Granted he wasn't in top shape).

The Hound probably has better chances than anyone else with normal gear, IMHO. He's the only man whose strength nears Gregor's that we've seen (Victarion with his new arm probably should as well). He still has to overcome that armour and his reach though.

Spoiler:
**** Brynden Tully and Royce. Eddard and Rodrik are pussies. Garlan I doubt it, Loras on horseback with a lance maybe. Young Robert also maybe.

A Storm of Swords
Spoiler:
“Nor did I yet grasp what I had in Gregor Clegane, only that he was huge and terrible in battle. The rape... even you will not accuse me of giving that command, I would hope."

Spoiler:
Tywin talks of Amory Lorch, then the conversation shifts back to the details of the Red Wedding.

Spoiler:
Jaime is arrogant though. He thought he'd be able to easily kill Brienne and escape, and he was almost killed by her (Granted he wasn't in top shape).

Spoiler:
He'd been harshly imprisoned and on his ass for a year, so his skills, size, strength and speed had all atrophied, his hands were manacled, and he was forced to use an unfamiliar longsword with both hands rather than the longer, heavier two-handed greatsword he was used to. And to be fair, Brienne is an extraordinary swordsman, Baratheon-sized with the strength to match. Jaime's definitely arrogant and definitely takes the bigger beating in that fight, but Brienne later concedes that had he been unchained and in good health he would have been unstoppable, going so far as to say no knight in the kingdoms could stand against him.

Spoiler:
Fair. The reach disadvantage won't be nearly so pronounced for him as it would be for someone like Oberyn though, he's over six and a half feet tall himself and has the armor and brute strength to just stand there and trade blows. And I think between his own raw physicality and his ferocity (specifically noted by Jaime as a consideration versus the similarly sized Strongboar of Crakehall) and relative intelligence, if he was committed to killing Gregor and thinks he's at a disadvantage face to face he has what it takes to fight scrappy.

Spoiler:
**** Brynden Tully and Royce. Eddard and Rodrik are pussies. Garlan I doubt it, Loras on horseback with a lance maybe. Young Robert also maybe.

Spoiler:
Mounted lance!Loras would smash, he's not Beric. By the way, in the book Gregor hits him square in the chest when knocking him off his horse, the show has confused you.

And his day's terror, I know, bite me and bite you.

I am glad you came around to my point of view.

That's it, fight me irl. Swords or lances, teeth, nails... choose your weapon.

Nemebro would bludgeon you to death with his titties.

Book-Aragorn though was pretty untouchable. While he didn't solo half of the Nine like in the films (which was BS), he was still one of the best mortal swordsmen in Middle-Earth.

Why is this fanart? It's disturbing.

Also, she was like 13 when this happened.

Oh yeah, Book Aragorn is just a beast.

Loving this song at the moment.

Sorry, I'm too busy freaking out at getting an email telling me my £100 transaction for a website I've never heard of failed.

Hope you get that all resolved. Talk to your bank and see if someone has been drawing or using your money and then see if you can work something out with them to get it sorted. Screw getting into debt.

I checked my balance and it was what it should be, so it didn't actually get through. Looking at the website, it seems to be some sort of scam site for torrenting where you get it for a day and if you don't renew it it defaults to the yearly package of £100.

I have no idea if I downloaded it by accident or as a virus or what the **** happenedd, its not on my computer.

But evidently I'm too stupid to worry about these things because as soon as I got into town today I forgot about going to the bank in favor of going to see X-men. Priorities!

I didn't go see Maleficent because I find her more attractive in the Disney movie. Is that weird?

A little bit. For a feminist it is a little strange that you judge movies' worths solely based on the attractiveness of the female characters.

Though I heard Maleficent kinda sucked anyway.

It's not my fault that Fassbender is so much hotter than Jolie. 🙁

Also I'm attracted to strong, well written women, motha****er. I don't wanna see a pussy version of Maleficent who's just been burned by a mayn.

That's also why I didn't go. Mainly, in fact. I heard it was pretty schizophrenic.
