Oh. I see we have a clear case of "It's not on my news so it doesn't happen" here.In the Central African Republic, the so called "Antibalaka" militias - Christian militants - are out to commiting massacres against Muslim citizens of the country, just as we talk here.
The Lord's Resitance Army in Uganda is another prime example of Christian fundamentalism being out of control, with the leader of that group proclaiming, he is a spokesperson of God himself. Doesn't stop him from ordering murders, rapes, selling children into sex-slavery or training them as soldiers for his army.
There are also various Christian fundamentalist terror-groups active in the North-East of India. Anders Breivik, who killed 77 people in his bombing / shooting in Norway in July 2011 is a Christian fundamentalist who tried to justify his actions through his religion. And even in the USA, you have various Christian fundamentalist groups that are clearly ready to utilize violence (e.g. against abortion, homosexual relationships etc.) when they see it fit.
It just doesn't appear on the news, because - concerning Africa - nobody cares and when stuff like that happens in "the Western world" people won't look to religious motives instantly, because we (should) live in "secular" countries. Yet, given the latest decission of the U.S. Supreme Court ("Hobby Lobby Case"😉, I would think that at least some among us can't really claim that last thing for themselves. 😉
Ill look these up nai. Any suggestions for what news i should read? I currently read cnn, bbc, and al-jazeera english. Have any other suggestions. (In english?)
Anybody have any advice for this question?

I'm waiting on someone to start screaming "blame religion". Obviously the problem is with humans, whether it's religious fundamentalism or secularism.

Same with secularism, and any other ism you wanna point out.
Really, pal?
I've never heard of a crime commited because of secularism or atheism or agnosticism. People might belong to one of the responding groups and be giant assholes (e.g. Stalin), but I've never seen somebody killing people because he didn't believe in God or was convinced that religion and state should be seperated. So, please, don't throw them into one pot, because they clearly don't fit into one.

Since I'm not familiar with the English news landscape (for obvious reasons), I can't give you any suggestions in that regard. Well. Except one, from one of my favorite authors: Avoid News.

I hesitate to add Hitler in the mix because you're probably going to scream that hitler was a Christian, ignoring his disdain for Christianity.

I don't recall them killing in the name of Atheism or Secularism though. 😮
In the name of the state. If you're really going to nitpick and desperately try to find a difference between the religious killing people, and secularists doing the same thing, then I'll give you that. But secularism has exponentially more deaths tied to its name than religion.

Dubious according to whom? And regardless what he may or may not have said, the Christian death toll was in the millions in Poland alone.
I think its impossible to determine Hitlers personal feelings on the matter due to how much of what he said was pure ambiguous propaganda. Being vague as shit, appealing to both sides and making speeches that made it seem like he was in favor of everyone was how he got into power in the first place.

We can look at the death tolls. While it's true that "in the name of secularism or atheism" doesn't exist, religious groups are the first ones to go in those types of regimes. The state just takes the place of a deity. Actually, just replace "in the name of god" with "in the name of the state" or anything else you want to put in there.
