You might like this old cracked article psmith.

"[Rock music] is deplorable. It is tribal. And it is from America. It follows ragtime, blues, jazz, hot cha-cha and the boogie-woogie, which surely originated in the jungle. We sometimes wonder whether this is the negro's revenge."

lol

Nice find, I was thinking about that article.

Oh, I was just kind of... taken aback.

No I mean, what? It's all in science talk, the significance is evading me.

Modern rocketry is built around the concept of throwing a lot of mass backwards very quickly to produce thrust. However, it's a catch-22. The more propellant your rocket carries, the more mass the rocket has, which means it needs more propellant... see the problem?

This is why there is no single stage to orbit rocket that exists today. The ratio of propellant to mass in modern rockets is abysmal. The Saturn V had a mass ratio of twenty-two. That means for every kilogram of rocket, the Saturn V had another twenty-two kilograms of propellant.

You can cut mass ratios into more manageable sizes by using staging, but that results in way more expensive rockets. Staged rockets literally throw away most of the millions of dollars used to build them.

The Em Drive described in the article doesn't need propellant, apparently. It can covert electric power directly into thrust... somehow. At first glance it seems impossible, because that would seem to violate the law of the conservation of momentum. There appears to be some quantum weirdness involved, which is beyond my ability to understand.

Christ, this is taking too long to explain.

Play Kerbal Space Program.

So if this is the real deal, space flight could see a pretty huge drop in expense in the near future?

And without so much mass required on our spacecraft, we can finally start equipping them with lots and lots of guns, right?

And with Microsoft's Cortana, we'll finally have someone with a sexy enough voice to bring Halo to life. I'm looking forward to the space colonization and interstellar genocide.

You know you're a ****ing neckbeard when you read that and think "Hey maybe I should get a Microsoft phone". 😐

I'm hoping to go all Her up in this ***** and try to marry it.

The right to marry inanimate objects. The next battlefield for Civil Rights.

If they ever perfect holograms then anyone who buys a phone with Cortana will just stick their dick through her. I know I would.

The price drop in the much nearer future will probably come courtesy of SpaceX and its reusable rockets. Here's a private sector to be proud of.

Right, because they're old. We live in a society where people idiotically believe something being older makes it better.

Using this logic, we also live in a society where people idiotically believe newer=better.

LL, preferences are preferences but in instances, there can be a universal agreement on who's better. Not everything is subjective.

The UN is so cute.

I'll be honest, that made my dick wiggle.

Well in the case for music, there is no universal agreement about anything, so there's that. And popular opinion doesn't make something objectively better. It's still opinion, and it's still subjective preference.

Goddamn I forgot how much I want to plow Kate Beckinsale.

Better hurry up, she's over 40 now. She'll be getting there soon.

How is that in any shape or form using his logic?

Though generally yeah newer is better. 👆

"Universal" lol.

Josh Groban is a better singer than me. There you go, I proved one instance of a universal fact. Simply having a different opinion doesn't make something subjective, it just makes the opinion seem uninformed.

Because while you complain about people saying older=better, you have the other side where people say newer=better. It's the same logic, flawed as hell, different side of the coin.
