He had this awesome facial tick, right at the end.
Spader's mannerisms are ridiculous in that they are so profound. You can tell he was pissed, angry, murderous... but hurt. That's the first time we've ever seen him wounded that deeply.
He was genuinely shocked.
I'll say.
It was a welcome turnaround from the constant coupling- Alan does not always get the girl.
He never gets the girl. Not really. He bangs them and they leave. Or he does.

Alan never gets hurt. And the girl in this case even warned him. Its a function of his narcissism that he thought that she could have done that to her child and tried to get him specifically into the case.

But he always gets what he wants out of the exchange. This is the first time that he's been denied.

Of course he does.
His break up with Sally shook him up, his break up with Tara left him visibly distraught for multiple episodes, Sally's return and departure also left him flustered, he was infatuated with Gloria and her break up frustrated him, and Lorraine's tactics constantly threw him off guard and made him anxious.
And she did seek him out for this case because she felt that Alan was the only one capable enough to deliver it. His narcissism, there, was justified.

I disagree. Though he's never been denied quite like this. 😄

I would argue that the previous 'relationships' were mere flings, that Sally and Gloria were both peripheral to Alan's 'inner life'. They didn't seem as important to him as Tara or this Phoebe. (thats the right name?) Lorraine is a good example of his ego getting in the way of his job, She seemed to be more an illustration of Alan's weakness for the opposite sex than a potential romantic conquest. Tara was a good point. He gets emotionally involved in some of his partners. Not all. This one seemed closer to the heart.

WILSON'S BAAAAAAACK!!!!!
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I have lost interest in House this season. They seem to have run out of outrageous and hurtful things for him to say to others; he is now vulnerable himself. I don't like that. They should go back to focusing on the medical part of the show, and get Cameron involved in treatment/diagnosis again. 13 just isn't a suitable replacement.
Also, I had a concert last night so I missed the show.
