Sure. Of course had she said the same thing about Muslims her ass would have been fired in seconds....

👆
Or as a white professor saying it about black people, etc. The double standards at liberal colleges are just astounding. That's why they're the butt of most jokes about future unemployment.

Admittedly, she didn't really say anything that bad and I don't really give a shit. I'd just make damn sure not to take her class.

No, I'd take her class, knowing that a twit with those kinds of opinions is obviously damaged goods and is very emotional and defensive. All it takes is one or two "conservative" views to rile her up and have her embarrass herself in front of the class.

Double standards is right, because white men and muslims/black people do operate by different standards. The former is the single most privileged thing you can possibly be, I'm sure they'll manage to bear the horrible discrimination of a few tweets.

What does privilege have to do with the double standards? Privilege or no privilege, it doesn't excuse a double standard.

Because no-one gives a shit if you say that white dudes are a problem, whereas if you start saying stuff about black people or muslims it can legitimately incite some things. Your double standard exists because there literally is a double standard that exists in the real world.

Yes Neph, thank you for explaining "double standards" to use. We know how the media and the ultra sensitive operate. And I don't think the double standard exists or should exist in this case, particularly when an educated person says such incredible nonsense. If it exists, I'm fine. Nobody pays any attention to liberal colleges, or any colleges for that matter, and she just flat out embarrassed herself.

Btw you DO realize that to get rid of racism/perceived racism, you have to get rid of the double standards and treat everyone as equals on the same level, right? Otherwise people like this woman get to have their cake and eat it to. They get to play the victim card and at the same time, talk all the shit they want. Makes me think a lot of them don't want an equal perceived playing field because they might have to keep their mouth shut.

It actually wasn't nonsense, white university dudes probably are a problem and as a teacher at one she'd know that better than either of us. And the double standard sadly does exist, though I agree that it shouldn't exist and that it shouldn't be an issue if she says that about anyone. Except it would be, which his why it doesn't matter if she rags on Caucasian dudes but would if she did it against minorities. The fact is that men at that age and in that environment are entitled asshats which is why there's so many rapes on campus and white guys are especially privileged. Which is why no-one cares about what she says. A) It's true. And B) her "racism" was against a group that faces basically no discrimination and doesn't give too twists of a lambs tail about comments like hers because they face no discrimination.

Yeah, hopefully the poor beleaguered white man will survive the terrible discrimination until we can end racism. Won't somebody please think of the white men!

Probably doesn't mean much and just because someone thinks they are a problem doesn't make them a problem. She strikes me as ultra sensitive and so set in her ways that the slightest deviation or difference of opinion connotes some kind of "privilege".

The fact is that men at that age and in that environment are entitled asshats which is why there's so many rapes on campus and white guys are especially privileged.

Uh, white guys don't act more privileged or entitled than black guys on campus. Everyone on a college campus is pretty much a douche, there isn't a statistic that shows one group is more douchey than another. It's an unsubstantiated claim. Although I've seen the shit stains the liberal arts universities on the west coast produce so maybe there is SOME truth to it.

It's not surprising that you not only completely missed the point, but put your own made up spin on it.

It's "probably" for me because I've never attended an American university. But she obviously has. I don't think she's ultra sensitive, I think she's probably just actually experienced so many douchebags in her jobs that she was complaining about them.

Uh, white guys ARE more privileged than black guys. And I did say that all men that age is a prick, but that white men are simply more privileged that others, which is why they don't have to care about discrimination.

My spin is that a white guy complaining about someone saying bad things about white guys is hilarious. Waaaah waaah! Double standards! It's soooooo unfair! 😆

"Guys at university" is the operative concept we're discussing. And it's pretty hard for you to make that claim, especially since you've never been to an American university. I'm not saying it isn't true but hard to gauge.

Not exactly complaining or acting like a victim lol, that's where you miss the point as usual. She's allowed to say what she wants, and others should be allowed to tell her to stfu. 😂

1. Dave, keep that in mind the next time you see somebody complaining about "PC run amok" (i.e. people on your side are allowed to say what she wants, and others are allowed to tell them to stfu).

2. There is a fic called The Northern Caves about a (non-existent) book series and the online culture that surrounds it. It hits on moral theory, forum culture, and I think Neph and Faunus would really like it. Gideon will sympathize, too. Maybe check it out now that summer has started 🙂

I'm a black guy that goes to a predominantly white American University. In the South no less. Privilege has nothing to do with race, and has a lot more to do with who you know. If you're a black man, with a lot more connections, you'll do just as fine as anyone else. Privilege and racism still exist, sure. It's nowhere as big a deal as people want to pretend it is.

Why? I wasn't offended by what she said, I was surprised by the lack of backlash and double standards. How did I deviate from my way of thinking exactly?

2. I'm too busy mastering game theory for my own financial benefit.

Way to represent the ignorant secularist minority.

Indeed.

Glad to see you're sensitive about this. I never get tired of making fun of grown ups who believe in angels. 😉
