They're a small resistance. They don't have those.

And why are they still a small resistance? Did the Republic not have an army?

The resistance is backed by the Republic but not officially or overtly. In Hux's speech he points out that the Republic is lying to the galaxy while secretly supporting the resistance. The resistance is just a small collection of guerrilla fighters in x-wings.

That's not really answered my question. I'm asking does the Republic not have it's own army? Why are they depending on a "Resistance."

I'm guessing the actual reason was to make it even more similar to ANH, even with the political situation.

They're obviously not currently at war with the First Order, so they support freedom fighters trying to bring it down from inside it's territory.

I get the feeling no one wanted to go all in on a war with the First Order until they'd found Luke, also.

Seems kind of nonsensical for the Republic to secretly fund a resistance and not just have their own army defending the Galaxy. They should have given a good reason for that.

But like I said it's just another way to make it almost exactly the same political situation as ANH (Rebellion against Empire, Resistance against First Order), but without spending anytime explaining why it's still like that 30 years after overthrowing the Empire and forming a New Republic.

It is nonsensical because it is a plot-point. Disney wanted to evoke the underdog freedom fighters versus the monolithic empire trope from the OT, at any cost.

Anyway, will Ray eventually succumb to the BBC, or will she fall for Poe's dashing Gautamalan looks?

So far, Finn is as friendzoned as it gets.

I stared at that confused for a few seconds before getting it.

Eh its really just kind of a copy of what happened in SWTOR. It seems like the Empire and the Republic are in a sort of cold war, with the Republic funding the resistance.

Neither.

Finn<3Rey sunk that ship from a thousand leagues.

Yeah, my sibling and I were assuming that it was a weird bromance, but yay either way.

Finn and Poe definitely came off that way to me.

Changing the subject, how powerful is this Eternal Emperor from SWTOR?

Gross, stop talking about TOR. Come back in February.

I kinda ship it tbh.

Poe's good looking, and Finn's definitely not so bad himself.

I find myself looking at his eyes a lot lol.

NEIN!!

DEAL WITH THE GAYNESS LIKE THE STRAIGHT **** YOU ARE!

I also just got the bromance vibe, but if Poe & Finn wanted to bang I'm happy with that

Anyone else find it strange how leia...

Spoiler:
mentioned Snoke like she knew him? Wonder if maybe he was also a senior student to Ben/Kylo, maybe even a master to him.

Does anything in the novel mention this?

Well Snoke's the supreme leader of the first order, not much of a stretch to say she knows who he is.

Wasn't there a link back before the movie came out that no one new who he was?

Just speculating is all.
