When the next movie's inevitable superweapon turns out to be a giant orbital phallus, I want you to remember this and cringe.

Already been done. Look up the science fiction show Lexx. Giant penis shaped planet killer.

And my final verdict for this movie is that it is both very stupid and very entertaining.

Good movie. Good sequel. I liked the characters, I liked the visuals, I liked the pacing, I liked everything. Didn't love anything, really. But everything ranked a solid "Good" for me.

And Kylo Ren was wonderful.

Watched it for the 2nd time.

I like Kylo Ren now.

I'm watching it again in an hour or so. Hyped af.

Is this quote from the novelization? Can anyone verify it whose read the book?

Spoiler:
Your defeat at the hands of the girl was no mistake. It was the will of the Force."

"Master?"

"The Force now bends towards the light... towards chaos. The Jedi are rising again."

"I don't understand."

"Balance is a delusion. Only through darkness, through power, can one rule... A long time ago my apprentice and I were.. sculptors... and the Force was our tool. Together we created... life. A being of infinite power... infinite potential. He became the man you know as Darth... Vader."

"You... were the father?"

"There was no father, only the Force, and I am its master."

"What happened to your apprentice?"

"He... betrayed me and left me for dead. The pain gave me strength. The strength gave me rage... and I endured. I was there when his empire was founded on the bodies of Jedi, and felt through the Force when it fell by the last... one."

"Palpatine... you were the master of the Emperor."

"Yes...

For ****s sake, carthage. Do you honestly think a Snoke-is-Plagueis quote has even the possibility of being real? Not to mention is sounds like straight fanfiction. I'm not even going to spoiler tag a response to that nonsense.

👆 Fake

That's, uh, my tired 11:30pm fanfiction from yesterday.

You're not the only one who thought it was legit, at least.

****ing-A, where is this, anyway?

I have the question the utility of Starkiller base. Presumably, with the time and resources invested into your giant space penis, you could have like five Deathstars.

The real fun part is, that power calculations for the first Death Star already kind of say, that it produces much more energy than a regular star. Yet, they power their new superweapon with a single star...

That aside:

Spoiler:
The utility of Starkiller base probably came from the fact, that they were able to put the thing under planetary shielding. Which we know can endure some massive bombardement. As you might remember, the Death Stars didn't have any shields (first was unshielded, second had a shield generated on Endor). Starkiller base would have been pretty much unattackable.

You may want to consider the insanity (and raw skill) of Han Solo, who did fly through an orbital shield with faster than light speed to stop before hitting the ground. You may want to calculate how precise his timing needed to be to pull that off, rather than turning the Falcon into a smoking crater on the surface.

Which would have been a far easier way to destroy the part of the base they needed to destroy by the way. I really don't get, why nobody in the SWU considers flying into targets at FTL speed a viable tactic for warfare.

😉

Because...

a. it's no challenge
b. if I want rehearsals of previously defeated points ad nauseam, I have some people around here to do that, who have the advantage to be at least entertaining, compared to Sir Quanchi Trollalot.

If it is no challenge then you won't have to spend a lot of time debating. It's a judged debate in which you talk a big game but your knees always buckle when it comes down to actually putting yourself on the line.

Anyone can talk a big game but unlike you I'll back it up. Accept the challenge and we can do this after Beyond releases this summer.

You know, I was thinking. The rebels were trying to blow up that thermalexhaustport uh important thing on Starkiller base. All they brought with them were those pathetic missiles?

Why not a gigaton yield thermonuclear bomb? This is Star Wars, they could make those.

The utility of Starkiller base likely came from the fact that they would be able to wipe out any system from across the Galaxy, rather than having to take the superweapon to the system as they did with the death star.

They're a small resistance. They don't have those.

"Where's the nukes" is something SW always avoids answering, but my answer would be that something that primitive couldn't damage Starkiller Base's hyper-advanced materials.
