I keep wondering if I should get this one. I've heard online that it's of the same ilk as the original Fable/The Lost Chapters, which was a favorite of mine. I can't say if that's because it was actually quality or just my nostalgia kicking in, though. Would be interested in a comparison if you've played both, but I'll settle for a verbal selling of it if you would.
I've actually enjoyed all three. Jade Empire, Fable and Fable lost chapters lol.
So Jade Empire has a Dragon Age 2/Inquisition-esque vibe based mainly on It's gameplay. From a gaming stand point, its pretty impressive to see a game from this era run smoothly, more so than Fable 2 actually. If you thoroughly enjoyed the way Fable played then you'll enjoy JE just based on that.
From a story standpoint, it does suffer from the normal troupes and cliches found in every story. Tbh, last time I played this game it reminded me of KOTOR2 done.. Differently, if that makes sense?
That said, the story and playing style are all very fun, and it's easy to see that Bioware didn't change that much of it's foundation as it grew. That said if there's one thing they improved on since Jade Empire it's been characterization most people on here are either completely bland or they're incredibly interesting then they pull a Walking Dead on us.
Overall; its a good game, with good gameplay and a good story for 14.99[special edition] I'd say get it. I definitely enjoyed it for a good seven/ten walkthroughs. Is it as good as Fable/Lost Chapters? Ehh they both has easily forgettable characters and weird moments, both have similarly styled gameplays and all that, but I think that they're both on the same level, with perhaps Fable being a notch above JE in overall replay value.
