I choose to blame misfortune. The odds are drastically stacked up against poor people when they hope to attain an education; the members of higher classes have a far easier time to do so. The competition simply isn't even, which is why poor people are hardly to be blamed for falling behind on educational matters.

The statistics do NOT speak of racism. In fact you haven't introduced a shred of evidence that racism is still dominating our country. Hell, look at who our president is.
Which is a sign that racism is in a state of deterioration, not that it is completely gone.
Look at the statistics. Let's assume that whites genuinely make up 80% of the U.S. If everything was fair and equal, they would also make up 80% of the poverty class- which means 12% of the general populace. However, this is not reality. Not only do whites not have the considerable majority among the people in poverty, they're actually in a minority. ****, 46% of African American kids live in a state of poverty.
I think this is essential proof that there is still a lack of complete tolerance in the U.S, and that segregation is still a problem.
Or, alternatively, you can simply say that this is proof that poor people are more likely to remain poor. Throughout the course of history, discrimination against minorities has been a considerable social issue, which ultimately led to poverty among these minorities. Now, these poor people had kids and presumably bred with their own race; and the descendants of that class still make up the majority of the poor in the U.S.
You choose which explanation you prefer.

Except B is everyone's favorite justification/get out of jail card. Lets NOT take responsibility, lets blame someone else! Let me ask you a question. When you see a murderer convicted, do you ask "What societal forces made him behave this way?" If so, then I rest my case.
People aren't born with a set personality. Of course, there are some innate traits (like intelligence. Hint hint), but the actual personality is largely dominated by education and external culture. Therefore, it's always fascinating to see what kind of societal forces drove people to behave the way they do. It's not the entirety of the explanation, but if you ignore it, you can still the whole deal.
And do you honestly think those black folks in un-livable conditions sit home and whine about how much racism there is in the world? The survival instinct disproves that. People are naturally going to do their best in order to survive; the fact that the statistics prove that certain ethnic groups make up the large portion of the poverty class is a testament to the fact that there is a degree of racism in the U.S, even if it isn't exactly visible.

See what you're doing is indicating your opinion on an issue, and interpreting the alleged logical deduction of that opinion, as fact. And segregation? Give me a break. I live with all minorities. I play sports with them, watch movies with them, etc. Perceived racism.
Personal experience vs. facts. The facts? Although segregation is in a state of declining in modern times, the U.S, especially the metropolitan areas, are divided into predominantly 'black' and 'white neighborhoods.
Now, there isn't any conceptual problem with that; you can't force people who don't want to live with each other to do so. But the problem is, blacks neighborhoods are in a state of vast poverty, especially in comparison to the far richer white neighborhoods.
Studies prove that blacks who live in suburban areas and have a middle-class income are the ones who live in 'white' neighborhoods. Meanwhile, black neighborhoods are far poorer.
These are facts. Make out of them whatever you want to.

How about the fact that
Really? And it doesn't matter to you that white people make up 80% of America as of 2006? What point do you have exactly? None
What the hell does that have anything to do with anything? Minorities have a disproportionate presence among the groups in poverty. I think this ultimately indicates that there is still a level of unequal opportunities among races within the U.S. Do you have an alternative explanation?

You're not born skilled. Where is this shit coming from?
You're born with several innate abilities, upon which a personality is built (largely by external factors). On of these abilities is intelligence. Now, intelligence is relative to learning abilities, which means people with a higher intelligence are going to have a far easier time learning, studying, and competing in the economy of the modern world.
There's a definite level of contribution that different people can offer. Some individuals, not out of conscious choice (but rather out of innate traits, which are dictated by genetics and luck), are capable of contributing different things to society.
Now, I don't think there's a particular problem with the fact that intelligent people make more money than unintelligent people. But, regardless of this fact, it is completely unfair that less capable people (the weaker members of society), who aren't so out of a conscious choice, are abandoned to poverty and minimum wage jobs. On some level, the individuals who do their very best to contribute to society with their own (admittedly inferior, or at least not needed) should receive a degree of governmental help in order to balance the scales.
And this is not to say that poor people are dumber than the wealthy. It's just that dumb poor people are far more likely to engage in manual jobs, while dumb rich people can still live off of their (presumably inherited) fortune. And, of course, there's a degree of favoritism in our society. The wealthy and the middle class have a far easier time getting a decent education and surviving in the modern economy than the poor, and this is a rather inarguable thing.
Also, I NEVER said that poverty is the only reason for crime. But it is the most common reason among the working class.
