The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

Oh goodie, when are talking about something practical like economics or finance, Nemesis is nowhere to be seen. When it becomes a moral/philosophical discussion, look who pops his acne infested face back in..

And yes, you will have your answer by next weekend which is a final promise(I know I've been flakey). If you don't have it, you can claim victory. Homo.

Well, I didn't feel confident enough to contribute anything to the econ debate. I'm taking AP macroecon this semester though, so maybe next time? I'd like to at least be able to pretend that I know what I'm talking about. And anyway, my objection to the abortion thing above was not moral, it was scientific: [b]evidence[/i] for the ability to feel pain "far" before 3 months needs to be submitted.

Sarcasm. You'll learn more by doing real outside reading than you ever with in an economics class.

AP Macro is a pretty worthless course, Nem. Don't expect to learn anything applicable.

Free Cheap college credit, a boost to my GPA and info for the EconChallenge later in the year can't hurt. So I think it'll be OK.

Faunus, make a second character so that my hax'd healer/warrior can pwn joo. Alternatively, so that my insane sith insect can pwn joo. Either way, u r gettin pwnt.

Stay away from philosophy and WoW, stick with something applicable to life. Finance, Eco, law, prostitution.

Philosophy is fine - and probably more applicable to daily life than everything else you mentioned bar prostitution - until people kick into holier-than-thou gear and start quoting from their college lectures.

Unemployment dropped by .1, though. I will celebrate by watching O'Reilly.

His research suggested that punishment was an ineffective way of controlling behaviour which generally led to short-term behaviour change, but primarily led to the subject attempting to avoid the punishing stimulus instead of avoiding the stimulus punishment was contingent upon. An explanatory example of this is prison. If prisons (as a punishing stimulus) were effective at altering behaviour, there would be no criminals, as we all know the risk of going to prison if we commit an offence. However, individuals still commit offences, but attempt to avoid discovery and therefore punishment by covering tracks, or using an alibi etc. The punishing stimulus does not stop criminal behaviour, the criminal just becomes more sophisticated at avoiding the punishment.

Evidence?

False. Birth "provides a natural Rubicon" that ends the discussion. (Dawkins quotes from memory. Yay?)

That would seem to be nothing but Dawkin's opinion. The fetus or baby is exactly the same the day before birth as the day after birth. You cannot deny that.

Did I miss something?

Discussion Knightfall and I had with several peeps (don't remember if it was you or not) not long before i left KMC. It was in some thread that went horribly off topic and ended up doing abortion and creation, evolution.

A dog can feel pain. Is it murder to kill it?

Ask Micheal Vick.

In descending order:

Fascinating. Really.

The baby may be no different but there has certainly been a change.

I remember; I was the cause of the discussion. It started with the Iraq war and morphed into an epic thread. We then moved into the BB#2 for abortion. (Creationism was knightfa11 vs. LS, then knight vs. Me)

We continued the discussion after you left: God, the death penalty and ethics were involved. DS still owes me (and has promised it for next weekend) a response to an epic post of mine regarding an author/theologian/physicist he likes.

lol, sounds like you do remember after all then.

Ask Micheal Vick.

Why should I care about his crappy opinion. Animals do not have higher cognitive functions, they are not alive in the same way a human is. Neither is a foetus. Not being alive = no murder.

so animals are not alive is your final argument?

How is philosophy more applicable than eco and finance? Philosophy is mental masturbation. I don't care to answer the questions of "what is love" or "what is truth" because that doesn't get me through life. I care to know something tangible and applicable to every day life.

And unemployment MAY have dropped because there's no more jobs to cut. I seriously would stop reading all of these retarded reports and look up the data yourself, because the government distorts it to incraese consumer and foreign investor confidence.

GHAHAHAAHAH. Hilarious dude. But no I would put Michael Vick in a cage against the big show, or brock lesnar, or someone that would destroy his manhood. For Vick, that would be the "dogfight" of his life. Dumbest human being alive.

Lesnar? Ugh.
