The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

Valkyria Chronicles is the gayest war ever. Fo serious. 😐

A blatant Gary Stu main character (who happens to be the wettest, gayest main character ever.)? Fresh-faced teenagers with amazing hair who shout peppy one-liners after shooting a dude in the face then bake each other cookies and have wacky hi-jinks? Whining about their problems when theres a ****ing war going on!? Yeah, thats how wars are fought. 😬 Nottomention the blantant oil metaphor and WW2 messages. Urgh.

I really can't articulate how much the constant happiness pisses me off. You. Are. In. A. War! You just shot a guy in the ****ing eye, show some emotion for the love of God!

Fresh-faced teenagers with amazing hair who shout peppy one-liners after shooting a dude in the face then bake each other cookies and have wacky hi-jinks?

This sounds fantastic.

The whole things like everything wrong with anime culture wrapped up in an irritatating message. They have a conversation about why its important to eat your vegetables! WTF!? You just took out an entire base with 2 other guys, who gives a ****?

And the few characters who are cool are battle only, so they never actually do anything. Do I care about wacky bug obsessions, baking or jew metaphors? No. I wanna learn about the guy with the eyepatch and the machinegun who celebrates by firing into the air and screams 'Whoooooo!' It figures the two best characters are those which the stole from another game.

😒

I am not mistaken when I say that this game is meant as less-than totally serious business?

(Either way it remains awesome, but in different directions.)

I honestly do not understand why you are complaining about this:

They have a conversation about why its important to eat your vegetables! WTF!? You just took out an entire base with 2 other guys

because it would make my day.

Wartortle.

Hard to mix those two up. I'm mildly annoyed because Ivalice did the whole 'we're on good terms, I won't sock, sorry Rex' when I banned him, and now he's on parade like a gay man in San Fran.

Argh.

Uhuh. Enjoy another ban and yet another entry in your feelings diary )

there was a poll on the very top of the front page of msnbc.com this morning.

It was an open vote on how you feel about the passing of the health care bill. I voted at 6:00 AM. At that time, with 84,000 votes, it was 48.6% angry, 24.3% happy 6% didn't care, and the rest was unsure.

I can't find it now. It certainly is no longer in the prominant place it was. Apparently if a poll doesn't say what you want...

The Democrats have proved to be out of touch with both reality, and the American people, and it will be their downfall come November. With that said, I would have been very surprised if the bill didn't pass. There was no way Pelosi was letting anyone leave the building until they got 216+ votes. What amazes me was how close it was, 219-212. Just look at the turnaround from the 08 election to now. The Republicans are completely united, while the Democrats are in disarray. And it took Obama to give a "verbal-type" commitment to Stupak, for Stupak to say "yes". I had respect for him for standing for his beliefs but he let him self go quickly, convinced by an "executive order."

We have to look at the bigger picture though and realistically, this bill will never see the light of day. There will be lawsuits for years, and the Democrats will most likely lose the majority seats in the House/Senate, which would probably kill the bill, before the Supreme Court does. IF not, a Republican president in 2012 would do the job. I'm not really worried about it, it's going like I thought it would and the Democrats are continuing the self pwnage.

What, specifically, is [the two of you]'s problem with the healthcare bill?

Extrapolating from that, what, specifically, was the root of the opposition before it was written? There were people that were flat out against it before anyone had decided what to put into it.

Spoiler:
THEY WERE EVEN AGAINST THE DEATH PANELS

The turtles, nigga. The turtles.

You mean aside from the fact that none of the Democrats read it, or that it is going to cost a very generous 900 million dollars, that it's going to increase premiums, waiting lines, and decrease the amount of doctors? Aside from government expansion in the form of 18,000 additional IRS jobs? A Lot. If you'd like, we can go page by page. Have you read any portion of the bill?

Btw, what is your reason for being happy with it (assuming you are)? And I sincerely hope it isn't "Well everybody is going to be insured now lol!"

1. It is required. I am firmly of the belief that a federal government shouldn't be able to force someone to purchase something in order to remain a lawful citizen of the country they were born into.

2. I don't like the way they couldn't pass it without adding in other bills. The entire addition of the Student Loan section to win votes (which would have thrilled me in a stand-alone bill) tells me that not enough people thought this bill was good to pass it on its own.
Ditto with the "provisions" the Senate is going to have to pass. Ditto with the Executive order Obama promised to sign. This bill wasn't good enough on its own.

If Dem's had wanted this bill, it would have been passed long ago. There is nothing the Republicans have been able to do to stop this bill since the Democrats took office in early 09. To try to say that the Republicans blocked it this long is ridiculous. They have been powerless since the 08 election. They couldn't have blocked ANYTHING if the democrats could agree.

You realize health care could have been passed in the first week of the the Dem's getting the supermajority they enjoyed until last month?

The fact that even the democrats couldn't get enough votes from their own party without brokering special deals tells me this bill isn't good enough.

It's unclear as to how much this applies to the current bill but there's enough for it to be tied up in court for years.

That's because Pelosi is quite possibly the dumbest politician in American history. She has no concept of reality. It took a bullshit executive order for Stupak and the anti Abortion Democrats to get it passed. It was all on Stupak and his bunch, and he crumbled under the pressure.

This is incorrect. There are so many legal stalling technicalities, it''ll make your head explain. It also helps to break a filibuster by having Brown elected.

Except it takes a while to create a 2,700 page bill nobody would read and it would be more political suicide than they're at now.
