Funny thing is, liberals seem to change their definition of racism to fit their agendas.

no... thats discrimination. there is a very solid difference.

that aside, hes not being discriminatory, either. hes stating what is most likely to happen. that doesnt reflect in any way on how he actually feels about race at all.

Nice edit, I missed it. Saying what is likely to happen certainly doesn't make a piece of legislation itself discriminatory, as he led off by saying.

And weren't you on the side of "Hanging Obama in effigy IS racist" when we had that debate?

i dont remember the topic, or discussing it, TBH.

So then you would have to admit that this law from Arizona is decidedly NOT racist then, right?

no, i dont think its racist in itself.

RN is right in that it does, however essentially give already racist people leeway to act in their... racist, discriminatory way.

im pretty sure most people do that actually.

which they already have in ALL OTHER LAWS. Racist people are just racist, period.

In my honest opinion, they should ask EVERYONE that they have "lawful contact" with, for ID. That would just fix the problem. I wouldn't mind carrying papers. It would just be something in my wallet I would never need, but would be there if I did.

Given the 2.7 billion dollars Arizona is losing with the rampant illegal immigration, I consider the law better than nothing.

The law itself isn't racist. The law has the potential be abused in a discriminatory way.

That being said, having grown up in AZ, I witness the problem first hand.

One can say that about many laws. The potential for it to be used in a discriminatory way doesn't make it an unconstitutional law.

I just read this:

Oh Man. LA MUST back down, or every single one of those city council members are going to lose their jobs in the next election.

"all other laws"?

extrapolate on that.

also, most laws dont allow police to potentially go over the constitution's head.

sure that sounds good. shrug

if you dont have papers, however, or state that you dont, no one should have authority to go digging around through your stuff to find them without a warrant.

"I feel like if you're going to boycott the candy store, you've got to leave all the candy alone," said Arizona Corporation Commissioner Gary Pierce. Arizona provides 25 percent of Los Angeles' power.

"I feel like Arizona is the candy store," he added."

what a dumbass

That doesn't happen. Police are allowed to detain people though, and that is what is happening. The police detain these people until their immigration status can be checked (say with a...SSN)

Its not that complicated.

Can they even do that? Are they allowed to that?

Who? LA? You are completely correct. They are screwed. Arizona also sells a large percentage of LA's Water to LA from the Colorado river.

im referring to the retard who felt that he needed to clarify his own metaphor... like, we couldnt tell which state was "the candy store" in the metaphor. that was worthy of an "orly?" owl picture

It doesn't happen as a result of this law. They don't SEARCH for your papers. You produce them. If you get pulled over, white, black, whatever, and they ask for you DL, you better be able to give it to them. If not, they can take you into jail until you are able to produce it.

Most of the time they just fine you, but they have the leeway to take you in instead if they want. This is no different.

Seriously, a state so broke that it uses IOU's is threatening to boycott someone? That's too funny.

Why would one state be allowed to cut off power to another state? That's absurd.

And why would one state boycott another?

Its the same damn country.
