I have an incredibly hard time making friends at all. I only have two. In fact I have a hard time engaging with just about anyone.

I guess that explains why you spend your time on here, it's a nice getaway. I was in your position in high school, then I changed myself in college, which gave me the tools. I suggest if you want to make the most out of your college experience, you try and be more social(not saying you're not). Put yourself out there and sooner or later, you won't be coming back here.

Btw, this is coming from someone who's extremely social now, but in general, dislikes people.

Seriously are you like, copying my life or something?

I doubt it; I seriously doubt it. Not unless you spent the first 14 years of your life home schooled.

Public HS was a nightmare, especially since I had no idea what was going on.

I was homeschooled as well, until 7th grade. I was a loner for 3 years, before I recovered. I think homeschooling is wrong only on the basis that it doesn't teach you how to socially interact.

That is something you learn in school that is jsut as important as anything else.

Seriously, what DS said, keep putting yourself out there, make yourself likeable, don't portray yourself as intellectually above anyone, and most of all, BE ABLE TO LAUGH AT YOURSELF WITH OTHERS.

Its the only way.

I don't want to tell people how to live in college, but I have what I think is the ideal college life, and I was lucky enough to live it for 2 years(I wish it was 4). It's hardly about education and mostly about creating and finalizing your personality and character. I put myself out there every chance that I got, and it paid off in a month or two. Once you get to that point, you don't go back.

i'm going to have to say exactly to something DS said for once. It pains me, but its true. Its the only way to ENJOY what you are doing. What you are doing is always a means to the end, and that end is enjoyment. Don't pass on the enjoyment because of the doing.

High school was a beautiful experience for me. Didn't drink, didn't smoke, didn't party... still voted "Most Unforgettable," senior prom king, and began dating the school's prettiest girl.

First year of college has sucked tremendous balls though.

Yea, because being popular in high school has absolutely no bearing on college popularity and social success.

I'll agree with the first claim, but not the second. Social success or lack thereof would naturally be contingent on one's entire lifelong socialization process.

Social success isn't dependent on college alone.

Lol @ Kickassia. 'So I'll give you ten minutes to pack up and piss off, Deal?'

I'll counter that with the fact that I know MANY people who spent the first 18 years of their lives being antisocial, and within a year, they're party animals dating hot chicks. Ergo, it has very little to do with one's lifelong socialization process.

And I think your claim about social success not depending on college alone is only valid once you're in the work environment. For the first 22-24 years of your life, I'd say social success is based on college, because you spend the college years changing, developing, and finalizing the personality and character traits you will have for the rest of your life. Everything before that is fluff.

Wow, it was confirmed that NK sunk the South Korean ship. I kind of wonder what is going to happen in response.

ha. I read S. Korea is going to ask the UN for further sanction.

No one ever tried THAT before with N. Korea.

Makes me wonder sometimes if Kim Jong Il is correct about being able to flatten South Korean forces. I thought it was propaganda, but S. Korea needs to grow a pair for sure.

Don't we have like 20,000 or so men stationed along the border?

Makes me wonder if Kim Jong Il is crazy enough to actually invade.

He really doesn't need to. He can pretty much sink ships or whatever, and nobody does anything to stop them.

Sometimes it feels like we invaded the wrong country. Afganistan had merit to it, but Iraq didn't. Now, there are real threats out there (Iran and NK) and we are so tied up in two countries already we sit and talk about sanctions.

we let Georgia get destroyed by Russia and didn't do a thing about it, either.

ugh political discussions, I say take over the middle east make every one shut up and impose imperial rule. Its just easier that way, less of a head ache. By the way this is why I'm not president. 🙂

I would be happy with Obama actually actively attempting to get our citizens back.
