Did you just level an accusation of stupidity towards a character portrayed by the great Anthony Hopkins?
Yes, I did.
Odin was an old self righteous fool, and Thor was a "smash things up" idiot. Loki was the only one who seemed to have a clue. There he was, providing the means to exterminate the enemy race of invading evil frost giants, but Thor and Odin have to be diseased by Kantian ethics.
And what's worse, is that Odin was pissed off in the first place when Thor attacked the frost giants. He should have been thrilled that his son was being a good Viking and killing shit. Odin should have been drooling at the prospect of endless war. He's a goddamn Norse god; the same people who's version of heaven involved endless battle.
And yes, I know, in the Marvel universe they're "aliens."
On the bright side, the action was great and Portman was utterly hot even if she really didn't come across as scientist.

I have to admit, I rooted for Thor after he started to mature a bit. Odin seems mysterious and almost unsympathetic, but it's because he's balancing being a king and being a father to two very powerful children. Tom Hiddleton did a great job with Loki though, so in the Avengers next year he should be even better with more character development.
Some observations:
1. Natalie Portman acted like she wanted to rape Chris Hemsworth. It's either chemistry or infatuation.
2. Loki's initial outfit is BA.
3. The jotun smackdown was among the highlights of the movie.
4. Odin could, iirc, pimpsmack everyone in the movie without breaking a sweat if he wanted. Give him some credit.
5. Nice Hawkeye cameo.
6. Good humor throughout.
7. Heimdall was BA as well.
8. Loki killed his biological father without breaking a sweat. Kind of concerning.

That crap is school material? I didn't know that. And even if it was, I enjoyed reading it because the Crusades is my favorite time in history. If I was a liberal arts major, I would have thought I could actually do something with this knowledge🙂

I usually think Beck is a raging lunatic but I enjoyed this.

Thank you Google.
Piracy is an interesting topic. Was it the cause of higher prices, or the effect of higher prices? I personally think it was the effect of higher prices. Software/movies/music went from being a buyer's market to a seller's market. A lot of the higher prices has to do with the dollar debasement but that can't be an excuse for everything. I'm not going to pay $25 for a CD, much less one with a few good songs on it. I'm not going to pay $9 to see a movie in the theaters. Netflix figured this crap out before everybody and capitalized on it. For $7 a month, I get unlimited movies and have since stopped pirating them (pretty much). Apple has somehow got this too with itunes but I'm still not paying a dollar a song, especially since it probably doesn't even go to the artists. As soon as movie theaters figure this out, movie piracy will plummet. Unfortunately, I doubt they will.

You mean like, I don't know, writing books that people who are interested in the crusades do buy and read or make money by teaching that stuff to other people? 🙄

The lion share of my piracy is mostly industry software (I refuse to pay 600 bucks for Adobe products) and premium TV like Showtime, HBO, and Starz. I get most of my music of Amazon.
