For those how enjoyed the movie, cool. It had everything that American film is made of, big explosions, over done special effects, random fighting scenes, death, and dense subtly. Singer I fault you for this, leaving XMen to do Soops, I hope the movie sucks! lolDig it:
Apparently, holloywood decided to turn the Xmen into a cash cow, hence people saying you need the "game" to understand the film. F___THAT! I've read marvel comics for twenty years(started at 5yrs old), I don't need a game to understand anything! In addition, the over used powers without cause(in the plot), guest appearance by a curiously familiar giant robot, and other examples of "Lets throw this in the movie to make some money" For the past four years, the (e)X-faithful hypothesized, meditated, and message board posted, the fate of the third installment of X-Men; only to watch in pain as holloywood destroyed a once great series.First, Singer left. Problem: Singer is a long time comic book fan that dreamed of directing an X Men film, thus he understood the universe, what long time reader expected of him and the movie, and how to introduce over thirty years of story to a new generation of fans.
Singer as a fan, understood this: There is over thirty years of evolved power, death and resurrections, over a hundred years of back story, team creations and changes, etc. How do I condense this into roughly a two hour movie? The possibility of more GOOD movies layed in the future. Two: The second film opened up the flood gates(no pun intended) of the X-Universe. I remember thinking to myself, Ok Singer, you have a potential disaster on your hands, can't wait to see how you're going to weather this storm. The movie series had the potential to go into numerous story arcs. However it also raised the bar of expectation. Now we're left with a bunch of holes, Storm/Calisto, Wolverine/Sabertooth, Phoenix saga, Cain Marko/Xavier,
Spoiler:
"Where's Scott?", What happens when the "Cured" discover their powers will eventually return?
Three: The mutant powers. You can't just throw mutants into the story line because some crazed fans want to see it on screen. Each power served a purpose in the X universe and is important to his/her individual story line. Going back to understanding the Xuniverse and subtly, you can't just give Rogue all of her powers because there is a story behind it. I will say at first, I thought in X3 that was the actual Phoenix entity and not Jean Grey... then I remember how she randomly exhibited the Phoenix powers in the second film. And for those that don't know...Spoiler:
Leech's powers are TEMPORARY!Finally: We see why Singer Marsden and who knows who else left or will possibly leave. Singer knew how to make this into a good possibly Great series, but as usual, holloywood decided they knew what is best for the viewers. So for the true fans, it seems we can kiss this series goodbye. Fox should have waited for Singer, given him say over how the movie will play out or whatever he asked. This film seemed rushed, at the last minute because Singer dropped, "We need someone to finish so we can get this out ASAP!"
I am curious how the writers and director are going to clean this up, if they decide to.
what are you talking about...
Singer was NEVER a fan of X-men, he had no clue of who they were before he took the direction of the first movie.
second, you make some really invalid points. Singer's movies were awesome, but there were plenty of plotholes in his movies. Wolverine/Sabertooth is from the first, Deathstryke/Wolverine, Mystique/Nightcrawler, Stryker being the guy who puts adamantium in Logan, Cyclops is terribly underused, Rogue was already a lame character...and this is just to name a few.

No, Singer is an x-men fan...the studios approached him to make an X-men movie but he did turn them down because at the time he wasn't, than a friend gave him a comic book of the X-men and he fell in love with them, and decided to do the movie, and inbetween movies, and when he has time off he's a writer for the X-men comics, and none of the stories he wrote were tied into his movies, they were stories that he came up with on his own for the Marvel Universe in comics

Wolverine/Sabertooth, Deathsrtyle/Wolverine, Mystique/Nightcrawler....These weren't plotholes when it came to the movie plot...if you compare the comics plot to the movies plot, than yea, it is a plothole, but the movies adaptation is different than the comics....I can't argue with you about Cyclops, but i think he was Underrated, not Underused
Flavio:
In terms of the comic, yea, there are a lot of plotholes, but as their stories play in the movie, they served they were in place. Now I did throw in that whole "he dreamed of.." just to see who is listening. Like you said Cyclops was underused, but I would rather see how his role grew in the X series instead of
Spoiler:. In addition, when it comes to Rogue, before X3, people were wishing on a star for her to get her full powers and if she got them, a good number of people would be jumping for joy.
him being "allegedly" blown to dust by Jean
Any director and script writer for a comic to movie adaptation must consider, the movie goers, crazed fanboys who will nitpick at every inconsistency just to show her/his comic book knowledge, and those that have the knowledge but can identify a good adaptation from an attempt by holloywood to cash in; which is what X3 appears to be. In the previous X films every mutant ability served a purpose in the storyline. X three just said, let's just... throw them all in there while they fight. The movie was entertaining, but Fox dropped the ball on this one.

Cyclops only got like 15 minutes in X-2 and like 5 minutes in X-3 how is that not underused?
No, he had only 5 minutes in this one, he had way over 15(I'd say 30 to 45) in the 1st one, and well over 5 in the second (I'd say maybe 15 to 25)....but the 5 minutes he had this one was more memorable than any of the 5 minutes he had in the previous two
