No brainer Wolverine has become the most overatted superhero in history thanks to Marvel's unholy greed in taking advantage of the nerd ninja craze of the eighties. He's been done to freaking death!
I'm going to play devil's advocate and put out BATMAN for overrated superhero #2. The new films are terrific but seriously are there any serious surprises? I think the time has come for someone else to take up the Batman mantle which is what made Batman Beyond such a GREAT series.

and as Spiderman has always been my favorite I have to put him on the list. 1) year after year he's fought the same freaking villains. It gets OLD. what hell kind of DA do they have in that made up NY city? 2) Aunt May. HOW many times did we have to see her get a heart attack? marvel comics seriously missed a beat with this crap brand new day story. Losing someone you love is a part of LIFE and what they should have done was let Peter have a few last moments with Aunt Mays spirit with her telling him everything was going to be ok, that this is the natural order and she wanted him to go on and have a family.
3) Peter himself. No new growth he goes through the same stuff over and over.
most underrated heroes
#1) The BADGER. this was the most ORGINAL superhero to come along in the modern and post modern age and the writing was off the hook. This wa s abook that was about STORY TELLING FIRST. the dialogue was superb even the women were interesting, like Badger's wife, though his shrink was the same cc feminist.
#2) Peter David's strength is that he can take the most uninteresting character and make them someone you want to read about. He did this with his AQUAMAN overhaul.
#3)Hawkgirl. I IiKE this character especially with what they did with her in the justice league unlimited series. FINALLY a woman hero with a sense of humor whos NOT just a total feminist totem. She was a lot more fun to watch than Wonder Woman.
#4) Dr. Strange. there is a LOT of potential in this character for a series but theres too much temptation to make him into a Buffy clone. He'd need another Peter David.
#5) Mayhem. Does ANYONE else remember this woman from Cloak and Dagger????

I thought JMS had handled Aunt May's staleness really well. He didn't kill her off, but he still got her out of the tired "old lady who has heart attacks" mold. Having her learn Peter's identity was the best thing to happen to the character--or hell, the entire Spider-Man mythos--in a long time. She found a new lease in life and became a feisty old broad who was fun to read.
Killing her off at that point would have been bad enough, but ham-fistedly forcing her back into the feeble old lady role was even worse.

Deadpool. Personally I think he doesn't get enough serious stories, the last series heb was in where wolverine used bucky to hire him to kill him was good up until i found out thats y it was happening. They make the character too "4th wall" instead of the joker-esque assasin he should be.
I dont feel like going n2 detail about BA,IM, or Nova but Sabertooths death was pure b.s. i'm so sick of Marvel and D.C. killing off classic characters like Sabes and Manhunter in a garbage manner in order to gain a wow factor

And yes theses feats where done by superman in the past.
This is exactly why they powered him down. A being this powerful will become so powerful that there is nothing left to fight. Sneezing a galaxy away, holding a black hole in his hand . Your not going to sell comics if the story vanishes and there is nothing left to fight due to the fact that the main hero is above god.

I like superman with his weaknesses to kryptonite, and to magic. Makes him more human and makes a more interesting fight. Pre crisis superman was a joke. Even though theses are commics its noice to still try to keep the story line in the realm of ......well being believeable. Some of the shit supes has done has just been to far fetched and laughable.
I dont like seeing supes taking on the most powerful being in the universe and defeating him. But i do like seeing him leading the charge and being a huge contributer to beating this enemy.
Supes will always be overrated casue he was the original.
