True.I mean there is reason why they drew them in the cartoon the way they did instead of mimicking the toys.
Lets face it G1 Optimus Prime is basically a square box with legs and a tiny head
But since Masterpiece Prime was released, that line of argument was kind of annihilated.
This thing looks as per cartoon, and changes into a convincing COE truck and this thing is a only a foot tall with 50 or so parts making its transformation.. Imagine the same engineering genius applied to a 35ft model....
Heres Masterpiece edition Primage with a re-issue of the original 84 edition(admittedly, blocky like you say) and a mini-Prime from the World smallest TFs line for comparison and scale:

And heres how he would look.....
http://www.tfu.info/Gobots/Renegades/Magmar/magmar.htmHe would be readily accepted as the new bringer of chaos by TF fans who are into Bay's new "vision".
How Speilberg could allow this shit to go on as exec producer is WAY beyond me.
THAT would be a better Megatron!
erm i dont think so. but to be fair... i prefer the new megatron compared to the remakes of him after he was a gun. ok so teh idea of him AS a gun was'nt great... but i thought he looked dreadful as a tank, and all the other versions.... except maybe galvatron... but that isnt megatron! should have kept teh look more normal instead of alienising it. true, it looks more meacing to look at... but it would have been more menacing to think of if he were more normal looking and transformed into something ordinary looking.
which is my bad feeling of the film. everything is tarted up, they're not in disguise as they should be. i mean a truck with flames on? you dont see many of them. the whole point of robots in disguise has gone. g1 were the only range of toys that worked on this principal and the film should have followed this. all the toys afterwards were more sci fi looking.
