C'mon - Luke Cage and Black Panther were groundbreakers in the comics world. Nicolas Cage took his stage name from Luke. Black Panther is cool enough to get positive mention in Do The Right Thing.

Its all about context. An all white superhero team is pretty much your averaqe default team in any industry and they may have your (insert race here) quy/qirl to add the all inclusory feel. When it said all black or african american talk about more than just color it is also about culture for example an all latino squad. You are the same type of cats that qot riled up about the boondocks and miss the whole picture because you are busy tryinq to proclaim reverse racism when in fact its just us tryinq to hiqhliqht a squad we would like to see because black heroes are often marqinalized and stereotyped in comics so in other words, chill the **** out. But just for you we'll round out the team with some white dude just so we can meet the quota.

Well you shouldnt make a team just because of someone's race 😐
If a character fits on the team then they join the team, and maybe they just happen to be black 😬
Maybe if the team was stationed in Africa this would make more sense 😬

Look the fact of the matter is if the MU was like the real world there would be more black characters and better ones to.
Im not sure if you remember Milestone comics. This was a comic company that wanted to represent the minorities more. It was great they had black characters, puerto rican characters, asian, dominican, lesbian, homosexual, bi-sexual characters and yes they had white superheroes and villains too....and there was no stereotypical crap.
Milestone comics was a head of its time and Marvel and DC (I think) to this day havent done anything close. That why we are doing this thread!

black history month, along with things like affirmative action or any "pride" movements (women, gays, ect) are prejudicial/segregationist/racist/sexist for one simple reason. It signifies the importance of race/gender/identity over and above the accomplishment of the individual. Basically, it says the most important thing about a black man is that he is black. If you see a black man, recognize he is black before you recognize any accomplishments or positive attributres of his character.
Another point. Albert Einstein is not recognized as a prominant JEWISH or WHITE scientist, he is recognized as a scientist who contributed to the human understanding of science. Likewise with stephen hawking, or johannes sebastian bach or any other "white" historic figure. They contributed something that made them recognizable and that is why we pay attention to them, not because they are white.
This isnt to say that there aren't any signifigant and also overlooked contributions from black people, this isnt to say that an intollorant society didn't make it easier for Einstein to publish his theory of reletivity before say, a black theoretical physicist. Its that, the fact that many minority groups feel a need to associate certain characteristics or importances to their race/culture that in the end, only serve to continue to segregate themselves from the mainstream society. Look at Gay Pride week.
It has to be irrelevant weather a person is black or white. Slavery must be bad because it was people harming people, not a racial issue. Its not reverse or whatever kind of racism, its just racism. Colour, culture, history, anscestory, all of that is irrelevant.
BTW, boondocks is one of the best shows on TV right now
