Well, science is any type of knowledge, and an art is any way we express that knowledge.
No, that's just pretentious bs isn't it? You know full well what I'm on about.

Well something like, " Human torch cannot make his flames alone in space" could be a good argument as there is no oxygen in space. Also with the fact that he has been proven not to be able to conjure them in space. Not to be confused with Firelord, whose actual flames are not fire.
That's entirely different. Saying he can't conjure flame in space is cool, he can't. However, if they say in the comics that it's because his flames are normal flames that can't operate without oxygen, fine. It's the way that people will apply science as we know it, to anything.
The level to which people will ascend into hyperbole is ridiculous. They do it to make themselves look smart.

Well the question is, "What is too scientific?" The comic world is based around the real world, and what is too scientific will vary from person to person, and that will vary upon their scientific knowledge in the first place.
Yes, but that's exactly why the threads started going to shit, because people like Demigawd had to post novels of why Storm might on the offchance be able to beat Doom because of something scientific...maybe. Despite the fact that he had 20 people proving him wrong with just common sense.
Don't get me wrong, as I said, he knows his shit, but he's obviously so concerned with looking good that he will apply irrelevant shit to the debate. XMarks knows science, you don't see him ruining debates because of it, he draws the line.
