blade was good, story was drab, original superman had an original plot which the new one borrowed from a lot, a process i see good when he's been gone soooo long, batman begins seems a little over hyped but the man with a fetish for bats was a good movie, around my way more people fussed over spiderman and superman and thats it, batman rarely and that's about it, superman, spiderman and batman are the most known over in UK, US may be different, but it looks that way from this side of the pond

i'm in ireland... 😛
i remember when batman 89 came out (i was 6 years old and queued outside the cinema for ages to see it). batman 89 had good reviews, as did batman returns as i recall... batman begins received incredible reviews in places, and i think very few critics didnt like it...
blade was drab? how?
spiderman did very well critically, and was well received by many people...
superman is fussed over BECAUSE of what reeve and donner did back then, they helped make superman what he is today...
i think any of those movies i just named is better than sr, but thats just me... 😬
batman begins is better i agree, blade... nope, spiderman... well debatable, regardless, because the majority of his fans are under 8 and dont know that the story for 1 and 2 werent that great, they just loved the pretty colours flying around on the screen.
Fussed over? not really, more like the first superhero to be called a superhero is coming back is a more viable standing point... but hypercritical u r.

blade i thoroughly enjoyed, as far as spidey goes, i thought it was one of the better comic movies, if not the best of modern years...
viable how?
hypercritical as in, i'm really critical, or hypocritical, as in i'm contradicting myself?
Being a Superman fan all my life, it took me a while to assess "Superman Returns." Don't get me wrong, I was thrilled when I heard they were making a Superman movie. I must admit, I was among those checking Blue Tights weekly for more updates and clips on the "making."
Well, I've been oversea for quite some time and finally got to view the film recently. The initial opening had me tingling with nostalgia as the original Superman score played through. But half-way through the movie, I began to lose interest and I began to panic. By the end of the movie, I realized movies like these are meant to make money from kids and don't care about loyal fans.
For all it's worth, I'm glad they made a Superman film. I didn't really enjoy it, but some folks did. Who am I kidding, very few people I know liked it. The original poster hit many good points why the film sucked. These are mine.
1. Either Brandon Routh couldn't act and they covered it up with simple lines, or the script was truly bad.
2. As mentioned by many, Kate Bosworth and Brandon Routh had no on-screen chemistry. We're led to believe the Lois and Superman shared an intimate relationship, yet the way the characters interacted suggests otherwise. Their relationship seems superficial at best.
3. Superman is a peeping tom.
4. Superman has a child out of wed-lock, then allows another man to raise him.
5. Luthor's plan gets no reaction from the U.S. Government. IMO, they could've taken care of it with an aircraft carrier.
6. Luthor's plan is retarded period. He's going to make the world submit, by growing another continent. How lame.
7. Some scenes just end flat. For instance, Superman walks through a gattling gun, then the scene just ends. It would have been nice to see him actually do something after that.
8. I'm not sure, but Superman just didn't seem "powerful" to me. I remember the Chris Reeves Superman as something possessing real invulnerability to objects and bullets, whereas Routh seemed very human and vulnerable in appearance.
9. Superman's costume survives the earth's atmosphere, but gets ripped easily by a nurse.
10. Superman goes to the hospital... Need I say more.

Why?Superman Returns was awesome.
It's better than xmen or spiderman and comparable with Spiderman 2 and X2.
All other Marvel films (Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Elektra) are fricken jokes.
i don't agree, i thought returns was anything but awesome... 😬 except the plane scene and the lifting the continent thing, those were cool...
although i didn't like x-men (and by that i mean all 3 movies), it still had watchable parts, pretty much anything with stewart and mckellan...
i still rate spidey (again, all 3) alot higher than x-men or returns though...
blade was pretty good, the first two at least imo...
