Hey guys, wanted to pick your brains about my first 2 picks.

I had "the turn" in a 12 team draft, i.e 12th & 13th pics.

I chose Henry and Maroney. Should I have opted for McGahee over one them instead? Curious....

..thanks for any input.

🙂

I love that you got Maroney that late not sure how that happened. Henry I would stay away from. He hasnt been able to be consistent and Denver hasnt been able to stick with 1 RB. I wouldnt of really wanted McGahee though either.. were Benson and Brown both gone?

Don't listen to forum. 😛

Brown's overrated, and Henry's no more a risk than Benson. They might (might) end up with better seasons than Henry, but the point is, those are decent picks at the turn. Maybe some others would've been better, but second-guessing is as bad as making a crap pick in the first place (which you didn't do).

First fantasy league draft of the season, was there from beginning to end.

Starters:

QB - Tony Romo
RB - Reggie Bush
RB - Shaun Alexander
WR - Randy Moss
WR- Chad Johnson
TE - Crumpler
Def - Miami
K - Akers

Bench

QB - Hasselbeck
RB - Marion Barber
WR - Chris Chambers
WR - Musin Muhammad
RB - Lamont Jordan
Def - Jacksonville

🙂

Took Alexander at #4 with the intent to trade for Reggie Bush, but somehow he dropped to the second round, pretty active draft too, 7/10.

BobbyD, I'd recomment either Jerry Rice, Jerome Bettis, or Wayne Chrebet. Or why not all three?
been here. done that. 😮

somehow? Other than leagues with unusual scoring like PPR Bush is not projected to be a top 10 fantasy player so he will generally always be in the 2nd round for drafts this year. Now the fact that he fell to 17th is a bit low. People must of been jumping on WR's and QB's way too early.

You have a pretty good team, just not very good depth at WR.

This one guy selected Adrian Peterson in the 1st round with the 7th pick, but it wasn't until the next guy took Peyton Manning at #8 that I knew I was going to get Bush. 🙂

Time to trade for T.O.

Yeah, you have a good team but stay away from Chambers......oh god....

...bastard friends stole Romo from me. On purpose. They don't even like him.

I'm pissed.

😐

...otherwise, 1 of 2 money-leagues complete. 8 teams, so everyone's kinda stacked, but I drafted well.

Hey guys, my fantasy draft was a few days ago, I had some bad luck and I was picking last in a 10 team league. Just wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts on my team.

QB's: Palmer, Rivers
RB's: Bush, Edge and the rookie Jackson from Green Bay
WR's: Houshmandzadeh, Glenn (steal for when I got him IMO), Stallworth, Gonzales and Furrey
TE's: Winslow, Dallas Clark

DEF's: San Diego and Green Bay
K: Kaeding

*adopts deep Ivan Drago russian accent*...you will lose.

You don't need two defenses. Or two TEs for that matter, but that's slightly more acceptable. SD will be fine all season and you can find a random D to fill in during their bye week. Anyway, ditch GB and pick up the best RB available.

Your RB situation is precarious, at best. I like Jackson, and the other two will produce, but there's not really a standout star on the team. See if someone will trade a good RB for Palmer (Maroney, McGahee, Henry, Parker, etc.) then pick up another QB off of waivers. Without even looking at your league, I can tell you that's there's plenty of QBs who will produce decent numbers if you find good matchups against crappy defenses week-to-week.

Also, picking at the turn of any-sized draft isn't a bad thing. Sure, LT or a proven RB stud would be nice, but it just requires a shift in draft strategy.

Thanks for the advice Digi.

I'll see what I can make happen.

Edit: Only 1 person in my league actually needs a QB and they do have Henry, so I proposed the trade, just gotta wait and see.

roland who did you take with your # 10 and 11 picks?

Cool. But only if your league starts 2 or more RBs. And good luck.

That explains quite a bit. Anyway, always choose at least 1 RB in the first two rounds. No exceptions. 2 is probably preferable. But considering you didn't, your team could've turned out a lot worse, so at least you made the most of your later draft picks.

...

Also, it couldn't hurt to improve at WR either. As before, something like Palmer for Marvin Harrison would be an acceptable trade, and probably to your benefit. RB is the bigger issue though, as there's more chance that you can find decent WRs in free agency.

On my own front, I've completed all of my drafts (4 of them). I won't belabor the issue by posting rosters, but here's a few general thoughts (might be helpful for anyone in multiple leagues).

1. Your teams will obviously vary, but it's good to have certain players that you like to target. Makes it easier to know who to root for too.

2. I consider my two money-leagues the "important" ones. Not that the others aren't, but I need to prioitize.

3. I have a Word file with all 4 teams on 1 page, from which I can peruse the rosters. Makes it easier to see where I need to improve, helps me keep each team straight, and also helps me target players in trades. Not to put all my eggs in one basket, but I'm trying to trade for a few of my "target" players to make things easier for me, and also so I have have fewer divded loyalties on Sunday. All my teams are still diverse, however, so they are FAR from identical rosters.

4. My smallest league starts 8, my largest starts 19. Fun times.

...

The only players on all 4 of my teams are Bears D, Brandon Jackson, and Greg Jennings. The latter two are backups except Jennings in my PPR league. I also have McNabb, Portis, and Crumpler in both my money leagues. I've never not made the playoffs in each of my previous leagues (4 altogether, spread out over the last 2 years), so the pressure is on to keep the streak alive.

Oh shit, I thought he meant my actual #10 and #11 round picks.

Sorry my fault, I had made a list of all the first round players I had my eye on and they were all gone by the time I picked so I picked Palmer #10 then I took Bush with #11.

Ah, that makes more sense. Still too early for Palmer, but it's way better than Rivers/Clark.

😉

Yeah. 😂

I knew it was too early for a QB but no real "for sure" RB's were left on the board, I thought maybe McCallister or Portis would be left but they got taken quick.
