Halo: Spartan III

Raevynn followed near the front of the group like always. She wanted to get wherever they were going as fast as humanly possible.
The run seemed to last forever, but finally they had made it to this "play ground".

Raevynn was more than a little disappointed when she saw what was waiting for them. She had hoped so badly for a nice swing to just sit and relax with. Instead what waited for them was more like a twisted jungle gym from some ones nightmare.

It consisted of huge wooden poles that suspended cargo nets and various bridges. Everything was jumbled together as if to confuse whoever was tryng to find their way inside the play ground. Beneath the giant maze was a huge puddle of muddy water

"Form lines of three! No more. No less." Mendez barked at the group.

Raevynn scrambled into place. She stood alone, waiting for two more kids to line up behind her.

"Today you lucky maggots get to play a little game called ring the bell." He explained, pointing towards a shiny golden bell tied to the very top of one of the poles.
To their luck, this pole was the very highest of them all. Just looking at it gave Raevynn the shivers. Another problem was the saddening fact that there was only way to the top of that giant pole. Big baskets were looped through thick rope. They would have to pull themselves up all the way to the top... That was of course assuming they found their way through the maze and to the baskets.

Wise was lined up in the last line. He looked at the lines they were so clistered together he couldn't tell who was who, and how many kids was in what line.

Axel fell into place behind Rae, for several reasons. One, she was fast and determined, she looked like she was strong in power and will. He'd seen her take keen observation of the course they were about to undertake, and she was also small, which would make the last part easier. He figured with her, himself, and another they could get through this without problem. "Watch for the bridges." He said, "I noticed hinges on the higher ones, they'll tip if you dont take the right way across."

He turned to eye the other kids and noticed the lines were sloppy. Taking one quick glance and Mendez to caught the attention of most of the kids near him, and instructed and showd them on how to line up properly. His dad and showed him vidoes of marching, and he'd seen drills back home. This was for discipline. He was met with mild success and the kids near him straightened things up, the effect seemed to spread as well, though for a general rule the further from the source the slopper it got so that at the worst parts there had been little if any change at all.

Kage nodded to Mendez, he was the third in line. Great i thought it would be a actual playground. He said to himself and waited in line. He sighed and straitened himself up as he examined the things. I have to pull myself up that thing. Why would i do that when i can simply grab a ladder. Or make it seem like i climbed up fast. I did put that invisible rope there so i can exscape. I'll use that. He said and grinned as he dug in his shoe and pulled out a wrinkled hook. He kept it covered so no one could see. He had it in his shirt and had his head in his shirt examineing it. But quickly put it back in his shoe. It was small and just enough to bring him up at the top.

Mendez walked up and down the line of children, examining each team carefully untill he finally stepped aside and continued on with his short lecture.
"The rules of this game are simple. Each of you is to make your way to the top, ring the bell, then slide down using the slide pole. That last ones to finish will be the losers. Any questions?"

Wise rose his hand so quickly then forgot he was still on his badside. Mendez turned and pointed to him. Josh was completly stunned for a full 4 seconds.

"Do-D-DO wE-g do we, Do we get to eat after this?"

He lowered his head and covered it with his arms hoping not to be hit

"Don't forget my advice." Axel whispered to Rae. He turned to the kid beside him, who was the fourth in a group because of the odd number. He motioned for the child to take his place in his own group. "Don't let him slow you down." He whispered to Rae, and then side stepped so he was on his own. He'd rather be the last, let someone else take his meal.

Mendez stared at the boy for a fraction of a second. "Well Im glad you asked." He then turned his attention to the rest of the group. "There will be a prize for finishing this task. The prize is dinner. The losers will get no dinner. I suggest you keep that in mind."

Raevynn's tummy grumbled, and she looked down at it as if she expected it to say something.
"I would love to get my hands on some chocolate right about now." She sighed as she watched Wise and Axel switch places. She wondered if maybe she was going to lose now. Axel seemed to have studied the course harder than she had.

"Well it looks like we're on a team then." She said, looking over her shoulder at Wise and Kage. "Im starving. So you guy's better try hard!"

"Get ready trainees!" Mendez shouted. "On one. Three..."

Raevynn glared at her two teamates. "Dont you dare lose."

"Two... One!"

OOC: Only 75? Pfft...

Axel started forward, and noticed his teamates did as well, they were fast. He reached out and grabbed Rae's shoulder, holding her in place, but not hurting her. He pulled hard, bringing her back slightly and bringing himself forward, but he had to be quick, he figured she wouldn't take it kindly. "Sorry, I have no intention of letting my team mates go on without a decent meal." He said, running past.

He caught up to his group, who were now not in the lead. Following them to a three way split in the path, he grabbed both, "Stop!" He hissed at them, making sure no one else would hear. "Don't follow them. Take left, it's not as short but it's faster." Just as he said it, the bridge several others were on listed and toppled kids over the side.

Axel ran between his teammates toward a ladder and jumped, pulling himself up and climbing at starting speed. He noticed how light he felt, this was cake. Coming to the top he turned around, seeing his group was not far behind. "Come on." He urged, waiting there he pulled both up to the top of the ladder. "Go ahead." He said, looking past them. "Walk in the very middle of the next bridge. Look, it's not hard wood, you can see where the bar is beneath it." He turned around while they went ahead. Looking over the edge, he eyed the ladder. It was cheap and simple. Bracing, he slammed his boot into the top step several times before it broke. Turning, he ran to catch up to his teammates.

Kage made a sorta growl noise and got on his knees. Saliva dripped from his mouth and his eyes changed from black to brown like they always did when he was excited. "Don't have to tell me twice." He said and was ready to take off.

Jacob had been eyeing the entire thing as Mendez was speaking. While he couldn't make out everything he had seen enough of the little twists and tunnels to notice a basic path to the pole. This was the same concept as playing in a Junyard you just got to know how to put things together. After the Menedez had said go Jacob to took off he was the first person in his line and was one of the faster ones so when he hit it first.
After the first hole he went straight through the first tunnel his group was following him probably because Jacob looked like he knew where to go. After that he quickly found a rope attached to a wall that went up maybe 8 feet. He climbed it once atop there was a straight away to the left through a tunnel at the end was the cirular rope bridge that went up a ways. Jacob had already seen that it was safe he took off with the rest of his team still just behind him.

(did we start already? 😑 cause there is no way anyone could have sped ahead of me 😬 )

(Then post being the fastest. Like my post says, he wasn't the fasted but he took the fastest path because everyone followed everyone else. Basi human herd instinct.)

Zeke walked over to Axel "hey ima be right on your behind so dont slow down ok. we are winning this little game." Zeke said after he got ready behind Axel.

"Hey!" Raevynn yelled as she was shoved back by Axel. It took her a second to recover, and already Wise had charged past her. She was amazed by how fast he moved. He had seemed so unintelligent at times. Obviously his sheer speed would balance things out a bit. Maybe they would have a shot at winning after all.

Raevynn quickly started running after the others. She was near the back of the group, but managed to catch up in no time. The closer she got to the playground, the more clustered the mob of children was. She elbowed and shoved her way through the crowd, trying to catch up to Wise.

Every ladder to the top of the jungle gym was flooded with children. Raevynn knew she would have to find another way up. She spotted wise, who had made it up the ladder, but now looked a little confused.
Raevynn ran as fast as she could, gathering up enough momentum for her little stunt. She leapt at one of the poles, and ran up the 90 degree surface untill gravity started to weigh her down. She quickly gripped onto the wooden platform and dangled there for a moment.

"Need some help?" Wise said looking down at her. He grabbed onto her arm and heaved her onto the platform.

Zeke was making his way up a laddewr when someone had grabbded his leg so he held on to the ladder and kicked the kid that was holding his leg in the face making him fall off of the ladder he then reached the top and ran over to wise and the girl. "Ok so where to now?"

Jacob was making his way up the ladder with the other two people in his line right behind him. He was looking at all the kids who had followed the first group in in Alex's group. A few had been trying to follow him but they got lost after the first turn and didn't know where there had gone.

This is the easiest part Jacob thought. He had chosen the easiest path to follow maybe not the fastest but it was all pathways and rope bridges from here to where they needed to go. He and everyone in his group would be quite rested for the final event compared to everyone else who had a lot of climbing ahead of them.
