Zeke stoped and then looked to rae "ok i'll stand and hold them off with you but then again dont everyone of us have to ring the bell and then cross the line at the same time?" Zeke saaid getting read to push kids off the saide of the bridge into nets and everything making sure wise was the one to get to the bell first. Then Zeke saw a kid pop out of a tunnell and start running on a bridge toward the bell and he was a little closer then wise because wise had to help Rae up so "i'll go without food tonight but wise is getting to that bell first so it will just be you and wise getting to the bell and across that line. When Zeke looked back he saw that the kid was ten to fifteen feet away from the bell and then Zeke ran after the kid and tackled him in mid-air sending Zeke and the kid into a fish net under the bridges and the bell poll and then he yelled up to Wise and Rae. "Get to that bell first and i will find a way to get out of here and across that line! I've done my job now do yours wise."
[]I hope your characters talking about mines, Blaxican >=P Cuz he's in for it now. []
Raevynn watchd as Zeke tackled someone into the muddy water below. He had just bought them some valuable time, but her attention was quickly refocused as one tall boy pummeled through a few of the other teams. He must have spotted the bridge too, and by the looks of it, he wanted to get there first.
"Not so fast, tough guy." Raevynn growled. She knew he was bigger than her, and maybe even stronger. Nevertheless, Wise had almost made it across the bridge, and she had to stop this boy.
Raevynn charged at the boy, lowering her head like a rampaging bull. They met eachother violently, her head smashed into his stomach, forcing him backwards, and most likely knocking the air right out of lungs.
Zeke got back up and started throwing and pushing kids off of the ladders and making his way up the ladders and he was all wet and muddy then he saw rae trying to hold back a big kid and he ran over and put his arm around his throat and walked over to the ledge and pushed him off and then he walked over to Rae. "Dam that kid was hard to handle hope he doesn't come back."
Jacob had watched all this happening by now they were almost there a number of other people had made it to the bell but they were all tired from everything they had to do to get there.
Jacob had gone up to the pole and him and his team had started to climb he did it just fine but after the last few feet he felt almost totally drained out of no where with everything else he had he lunged for the bell and rang it. After a few attempts the rest of his team had made it. They then went to the finsihed area at the middle of the pack.
Zeke turned around and ran afdter the bell and rang and then he jumped down off of a bridge and his leg snapped but he didnt care or notice it he just ran towards the finish line and he was right next to some kid almost there also (thats u jacob) and he dove for the finish line and landed past it right before the other kid did and then thats when he noticed his leg. Zeke had sprained his leg it might of even been broken. "Officer Mendez i rang your helped my team rang your bell and got back here faster than anybody else." Then wise and rae appered next to Zeke they had finished 1st but the also finished behind the kid Zeke was racing against but they had beaten the rest of his group.
Axel had ushered his team on ahead, by now he expected they had rang the bell already, they were one of the first to make it. He regretted the fact that he hadn't gone with him, they'd taken the path instead of going over the edge, it would've saved them half the time. For now, he was on an upper path, and he was looking down at the last of the groups. They would have to take the path they were one, which was twice as long as the one he was standing. He knew he could still make sure he didn't come in last, and help some of the ones down there. He glanced at Mendez, maybe the CO wouldn't like it. He shook his head, his father had told him on a mission and ODST NEVER, NEVER left a man behind. Tradition was important, and the most important tradition of all was honor.
His strength, his life on high gravity, and his practical sense all helped him here. He braced, and half hung over the edge of the path so he was well within reach of the others. "Come on!" He said. Several stopped to look at him sceptically. A few of the groups even seemed lost in the maze. "One of you's gonna come in last anyway, whether it takes more time or not." He siad. "You'll be stuck down there for a while." The closest one, a rather large boy came and grabbed onto his free hand. With Axel pulling, and the boy somewhat climbing up his body he managed to get the larger kid up. The strain lessened once the kid was climbing up the rails and not him. "I hope they all aren't that heavy." He said, helping the next.
A total of four groups were up now, three had gone ahead, one had stayed behind to help. The strain was becoming too much for him though, the position was akward, and his endurance was being tested. He'd never had to do this before, let alone half upside down. Another kid came, and Axel felt his shoulder start to scream at him in pain, this would be the last he could do. Suddenly two pairs of hands entered his vision, and pulled the kid up. He glanced back to see the group that was staying had decided to help. He smiled, "Thanks guys." He helped the last two people up. He frowned at one group that hadn't accepted his help and run off in another direction. They'd be last by far, they would have to go in a circle and come back up here further on to get to the bell.
Axel pulled himself back up, and for a moment leaned against the rails with his chest heaving. "I dunno if I want to eat anything now. My stomach is so sore it'll probably hurt." He said in a sarcastic tone. "Come on, we can beat them." He said, pointing to the ones that had gone on without his help. "But we need to be quick. Follow me, we can cut time off our path."
They'd gone one for a bit when Axel stopped and leaped over the side of the path, landing on another. "Jump." He said, turning back to the others. They did, one after the other. They came to the rope, basket, and bell. Axel was already exhausted. He groaned, and picked out the smallest of the group, and he and they got into the baskest. Pulling they reached the top, and the two rang the bell. Axel climbed out and perched himself on top of the pole, and let the basket fall. The last few groups with him came up, with him aiding them in each approach. Finally when all had come, save for the last few groups still in the obstacle course, he rang the bell and dropped to the ground. Landing heavily he abosorbed the impact with his knees, but it still knocked some wind out of him. He puffed his way over to the others, and his group. Stopping he doubled over his with his hands on his knees sucking in air. "Lemme guess, now we gotta run back..?" He eyed his team mates, his eyes sparkling brightly. "Told you I wouldn't come last." He looked back, "Just wanted to makes sure they got a meal too. My dad told me never to leave a man behind." He looked at Rae, "Or a woman." He edged behind his teammates, making himself harder to see from her position. A few moments later he started coughing, and it lasted for several antagonizing moments. He decided to rest on his knees, "Next time I'm getting help..." He said, holding his sides in what was obviously discomfort or pain. It was a cramp, another effect of the gravity. "I pushed myself too hard...I'll be feeling this tomorrow."
[]Well it looks like everyone just finished the race. So you're at the playground, and just got done running through it.[]
Mendez watched as the last few teams scrambled across the line. They all looked to him and waited to hear which team was going to be the loser.
"Well, it looks like every single team worked together to get to that bell. Im impressed. I must admit that I expected a high rate in failure." He said, his eyes scanning a wooden clipboard in his hands.
"So who's the loser?" Raevynn blurted out.
Mendez cocked a suspicious eyebrow at the girl before answering. "Sometimes, there doesn't have to be a loser. Although this is rare, it is possible, and you trainee's just proved it."
That being said, Mendez ordered them into a single file line, and forced the exhausted trainees to jog there way back down the gravel road.
It was atleast an hour run, but at last they had made their way to the mess hall.
"Inside will be your prize. When your finished, proceed to the bunker and get some sleep. We start bright and early in the morning. You're now dismissed."
Raevynn ran as if she still had all her energy. Some of the other children had beat her to the door to the mess hall and pushed it open.
She peered over thier heads and spotted a long table lined with steak, chicken, hamburgers, every kind of food she could think of, and in the very middle, mountains of ice cream with every topping they could possibly want.
"Im glad you made it." She said to Camilla who was standing near her. "Lets get some of that food before all these boys eat it."
"WAIT!" Axel bellowed at the top of his lungs, he was one of the first there, but he was still out of breath. He stood in the door way, pushing against those in front of him. "WE SHOULD GO IN ORDERLY! IF WE RUN IN LIKE MANIACS WE'LL TEAR IT ALL APART!" He glanced at some of the bigger ones, "Could use a little hand if you agree with me."
"Out of the way!"
Axel heard the shout, and ducked just as a fist went flying over his head. "This is what I was afraid of."
Jacob had went in he did his best to avoid people found a hole grabbed a plate and went to a table in the back.
When he sat down on the table he bent his head nad clasped his hands to gether in prayer.
He said the Lord's prayer thanking him for the strength to finish this day and for the food he had recieved.
Raevynn was surprised when she saw Axel holding off the massive stampede of children.
She ducked and crawled on her hands and knees. It was hard for her to avoid being crushed, but it was worth it. She crawled between Axel's legs, and stood up at the other end laughing as she ran to meet Camilla.
"My names Raevynn." She said with a toothy grin. "Whats yours?"
- "Camilla, nice to meet you Raevynn" - Camilla said smiling and still eating, it was nice to finally have somethig to eat after all the training and running but she still didn't understand what she was doing there or why. She had gone along from the start, so much that the doctor was suprised that she hadn't put on a fight like all the other kids.
Raevynn plucked a fork off the table and stabbed it into a huge steak. She plopped the over sized meat onto her plate and then reached for the ice cream.
"It's nice to meet you too. Maybe we should stick together..." She said, piling ice cream ontop of her steak.
Once she was satisfied she filled the plate, she took a seat and started shoveling ice cream into her mouth. As she ate she watched a boy saying a prayer. Raevynn wondered how he could be doing such a silly thing in a place like this.
