Halo: Spartan III

"Hello, Spike..." Raevynn replied, staring vacantly past the boy as the last of numbers finished scrolling across her vision. She blinked and squeezed her eye lids shut before opening them again to glance up at the armor clad Spike.

"Capture the Flag?" She questioned, arching a dark eye brow. Obviously the Spartans had been informed of this while she was away. "Do you really think your body is ready for that sort of physical work out?"

"You bet your overly armored ass it is!" A trainer dressed in fatigues appeared behind Spike and enthusiastically slapped a sturdy hand into Spikes back. "Fasten these around your right arms." He added with a zealous tone as he handed them two bands of <red?> fabric. "Get those on and regroup at the door." He finished, hooking his thumb over his shoulder to point out the exit. Mendez was already waiting for them there.

"Hello Squad leader. And yes my body is in shape and fit for CTF or anything i've been training everyday to get back to were I was before the accident." Spike said looking at Rae. He then stuck his arm out forward and put the red armband around his right arm before looking and speaking to Rae again. "Well lets go kick some bootay." Spike said as he started to walk towards the door they were told to go to. Spike walked past Abbra and threw a red armband to her. "Put that on your on the red team now follow me and the squad leader and get ready for our first mission." Spike said to Abbra as he walked past her. He then was almost to the door when he lifted his helmet and put it on his head hearing the latches click showing that it was locked in place. Spike blinked and everything on his heads up display flickered and came on. Spike approched the door and waited by it for Rae to catch up with him.

Raevynn followed Spike towards the large doors where a few of the other Spartans had already started to gather. As they passed her station, she grabbed her helmet and slipped it over the top of her head, pulling it down until it hissed tightly into place.

"Good to know Abbra's on our team." Raevynn replied, surprised by the slightly distorted sound of her own voice as it passed through the helmets external speakers.

As they joined the small group of Spartans, Raevynn started fastening the red strap around her arm. Inside her helmet, her face was twisted with frustration. Her hands were not the same. They moved too easily, and the simple task of securing a red band was turned into a frustrating challenge. After a few struggling seconds, she finally realised the error of her ways. It was obvious now that completing tasks on a larger scale was going to be much much easier. But in return they would have to struggle with the simpler aspects of life. Walking, running, fastening a piece of fabric, ordinary functions such as these were going to have to be relearned, and she could easily handle this. Although she accepted this piece of knowledge, a part of her knew that not everything could be relearned. From this day forward they were no longer humans. Atleast not in the eyes of the rest of the UNSC. For some unexplainable reason this gave her a sense of fear and pride. In years to come, she wondered which feeling would over power the other...

"Alright, hurry up over there!" Mendez yelled to the remaining Spartans who were still scattered throughout the room. "We don't have all day!"

Raevynn immediately snapped to. The last thing she needed was to be caught slacking on their first day in real armor. Her eyes darted from arm to arm, searching to see which Spartans she was grouped with, and which ones she would be facing. As her eyes fell over one particular blue arm band, she started to worry. It was Wise. The fastest of them all. Winning this was going to be one hell of a challenge. The opposing team was filled with many of the most impressive Spartans.

"Listen up, Spartans." Mendez growled. "I know some of you have yet to fully adjust to your suit. But don't worry, this is going to be a great exercise for you. There's no better way to learn than to start right away with a situation where you are forced to be done adjusting. So incase any of you didn't know already, we're going to be playing a game of capture the flag. You've already been sorted into two teams. Each team will be given a map and dropped off via escort pelican in their appropriate bunker where their flag will be waiting. Your objective is too capture the opposing teams flag and bring it to your own base. First team to bring the enemy flag back to their base will be declared winner. Now..." Mendez turned to unlock the door behind him. As he slid his identification into the security panel, the device flashed blue lights, and the door opened to reveal a room filled with weapons.

"These fire arms are all equipped with stun rounds. You'll be fine inside your armor. Now load up and choose your weapons wisely."

Jacob looked around the room. It was quite tense as friends were about to be pitted against each other. Rae and Spirit Binder that would be fun he thought. Even though Jacob held all the records for sniping at the base he still wanted to test himself against Rae who he thought was his peer.

Mendez screamed a little bit at a time but fr the most part everything was silent.......kind of.

"So why did we have to be on the blue team huh Jacob I would much rather have been on the red team closer to pink which is my favorite color did I ever tell you that," Ambapali continued, "By the way it seems there are more girls on the red team and I think I would have a much more enjoyable time over there wouldn't you Jacob besides girls tend to be more motherly and would protect you better. Heaven forbid if if one of things hit you and some reasons you go into shock I would never forgive myself I ju..."

"Ambapali," Jacob said in his normal calm voice. "Yes Jacob what can I do for you know?" she said. "I think we're going to be fine," Jacob said trying to comfort his A.I. which even to a Spartan seemed kind of odd. "Very well I'll stop on the topic....but at least make sure to put on sun screen.........."

Jacob couldn't even reply to that statement. He just walked over to the weapons Mendez had provided. He grabbed his usual the Sniper Rifle and the Battle Rifle.

Parker walked with the Spartans and listened to Mendez's instructions before choosing his weapons. He prefered frontline weapons, taking out a Shotgun and the BR55, adding fresh clips to them and making sure he had enough clips needed to last the entire game.

Once he was finished, he awaited outside for his team to assemble so they could pile inside the Pelican. "Come on team, let's move it! The faster you move the faster we get to play Capture the Flag!"

Alavaka chimed up from inside Parker's head. "Yeah, listen to him you buch of lazy asses! Don't make me come out there and make you move!" Unfortunately, only Parker could hear it.

(I was thinking aboout trying this rp is it still alive?)

(no it is not alive every1 left because you joined. lol jp 😛 of course it is still alive or we wouldn't of told you to make a character and that you could join. but from now on plz post all non IC posts in the ooc thread plz.)

Spike looked around and saw Rae was having trouble with her arm band. He walked over and took it out of her hand and slid it on her arm.

"Sorry Squad leader but it looked like you were having some trouble so i thought i would help you before you embarassed yourself."

Spike said before he walked over to the weapons lockers and grabbed a assualt rifle and a battle rifle from the lockers he also grabbed a small pistol. Spike looked around the room and saw Parker and Wise waiting to leave.

"You two know that Red team is going to win right we got the best spartans on our team. Besides Wise can't use his speed as well as he usually can because he is fast i'll give him that but he isn't faster than a bullet/stun bullet."

Spike said to Parker and Wise as he walked over to where Rae and his other teamates were and stood there waiting for the next set of instructions.

[] Yes, it most definitely is still alive, but post in the OOC thread from now on 🙂[]

Raevynn scanned the room for the one weapon that would effectively complement her skills. She spotted it in the back of the room, on the wall surrounded by a handful of others exactly like it. It was among the largest weapons that were in this room, and undoubtedly one of the heaviest. As Raevynn made her way to the SRS99C S2 AM Sniper rifle, she stopped to grab a side arm. A Br55 would have been worth while in her hands, but the risks strongly out weighed the benefits. While her sniper would take care of long range, the Battle Rifle would prove little use in a close combat situation. Instead she scooped up a handful of pistol clips and an M6D pistol.

As she picked up the weapon. Gautama started explaining a few elements of the HUD. He brought up a targeting reticle, and the name of the weapon. He then started explaining to her how to properly secure the weapon to her waist. Apparently the armor eliminated the need for a holster in some cases. Following his instructions, she successfully clipped the pistol to the side of her waist.

Now it was time for her to take care of the heavy weaponry. As Raevynn made her way to the Sniper Rifles, she noticed Jacob. He already had one in his hands. She had nearly forgot his knack for Snipers. He was almost intimidating. Raevynn was great with the Sniper Rifle; a perfect shot. She almost never missed a target. But Jacob was even better. He never failed to impress them with his unsurpassed marksmanship.

Raevynn stepped up the Rifles, reached up and grabbed one off the wall. She gazed at the powerful weapon in her hands, then looked up to Jacob.

"I feel pity for anything that strays into your sight, Jacob. But you better watch out. I might just get you this time around." She joked before grabbing a few extra clips for the heavy weapon.

Nearly ten minutes later, Mendez was barking orders again. "If you're not finished, I suggest you hurry up. We're not waiting around for any one." He wasn't joking either. "Fall in, Spartans, we're moving out."

Mendez and the handful of trainers led the Spartans through the remainder of the complex, and outside to a landing pad where two rumbling pelicans were waiting. They were both ready to take off, hovering about 7 ft. off the ground as their belly engines kicked up a cloud of dust and dirt.

As the trainers started distributing maps, Mendez started yelling over the monstrous sound of the dropships. "Blue team! Front and center!" He waited for the first half of the Spartans to acknowledge his orders, then started roaring again. "You're taking the first pelican out" He pointed. "Double time it!"

Parker led his team to their dropship, and they started piling in one after another. As soon as the last of blue team climbed aboard, Mendez nodded in the direction of the remaining Pelican. "You know where you're headed. Red team, saddle up! Now move it, girls!"

Raevynn jogged foward, glancing over her shoulder at her team behind her. They gave her a jolt of confidence like always. As she approached the roaring pelican, she leapt up, grabbing the edge of the pelicans ramp for support as she heaved herself into the dropship. Turning, she stood near the edge of the ramp, and offered a hand to the Spartan behind her. Raevynn stood there until every last member of her team had climbed aboard and taken a seat. Then finally she seated herself at the end of the bench, taking a deep breath as the pelican lifted upwards and it's ramp sealed shut.

"You kids better win this thing." A cheerful females voice sounded through the intercom. "I'll keep my fingers crossed for you kids." She finished with a laugh.

Raevynn peered out the window beside her at the terrain below. The last time they'd been out in the wilderness of Reach, they were only six years old. She barely remembered it, but she knew enough to know that there would surely be surprises.

The trip seemed to take forever. Raevynn was so eager to put the suit as well as the A.I. through it's passes. It was a boring flight, but soon enough, Raevynn felt her stomach leap into her throat. They were finally landing.

"This is it!" The pilot's voice echoed and moments later, the ramp dropped with a thud, revealing the ground below. "Move it, Spartans!"

Raevynn stood, leaping from the ramp without hesitation. As soon as her feet slammed into the soft dirt, she started to move, making her way to a nearby cement block. Their swaying red flag was planted in the dead center of it. Plain for all to see. This really was going to be a challenge.

Spike was testing everything to make sure it worked in his armor. He then called for Asoska.

"Yes you called spartan?''

Asoska said appearing Spike HUD.

"Set up cross com communication please and run a systems check to make sure everything is still working right please and get back to me when your done ok."

Spike said as he jumped off of the pelican ramp after everyone else was out. Once Spikes feet hit the ground the pelican took off. Spike dove behind a cement block across the base from Rae. He took two fingers and tapped the cheek of his helmet. The sign to turn on your com link.

"Every thing is running well and your com link is set up all you have to do is tap the roof of your mouth with your tongue and it will open the channel."

Asoska said before despering. Spike looked around to scan the place and to see where his team was. He then waved his hand infront of him showing the sign that he needed cover fire. Spike then ran from his crouched position over to where Rae was crouched. Spike then put his hand back up showing that he didn't need cover anymore. He looked at Rae and started talking.

"Ok Squad leader what do you want to do. Do you want to split up and go on recon alone or do you want us to go in groups of two?"

Spike awaited Rae's answer. Spike said looking around trying to think of something to do.

Raevynn watched as the rest of their team piled out of the dropship, and took up various positions around the flag. Spike crouched beside her. "Okay squad leader, what do you want to do?"

Before answering, she stood up and took in their surroundings. "This flag is wide open. We can't just sit here and puppy guard it. We need a perimeter. As far as offense goes, you've got the right idea, Spike. Before we make an offensive move, we need a recon scout to figure out what the blues are up to. I'll take that position."

Raevynn then brandished her map, unfolded it and lay it down ontop of the cement block. She flattened out a few creases with her gauntleted hand then gestured for everyone to move in closer and get a look. "So if this is us," She pointed "The first thing we need to do is secure the area around this hill and make sure no one gets in. While we're getting the perimeter set, I'll scout ahead and see what I can find. Any suggestions? Plans?"

Marie slid down from the pelican and landed in a crounching position. She smiled, rather suprised of the agility of the armor, despite the size, weight and color. She landed in a crouching position and remained that way while watching the rest of the team getting in position. She rarely took choices of her own, as she decided to await the command of the squad leader. Whatever her choice would be, Marie would do what she did best. Follow, fight and use her devotion at the best way possible. She was an all around abilitied soldier and would probably be capable of doing whatever duty Raevynn provided her.

"M90 Shotgun? Are you sure about that. They have a talented sniper in their team. You are good all-around. Why did you not pick a sniper, or the rifle? It is much safer, my dear" Mahamaya said and Marie gently shook her head. "If I wanted safety, I would not be here" was her reply and a sigh was heard from Mahamaya. Marie walked up next to Raevynn ready to take orders, as Mahamaya upheld communication once more "Check with 116 what she thinks of the idea with attackers and defenders. It is a winning concept as you will not have to worry about your own flag, while already grabbing theirs" Marie heard the voice of Mahamaya in her head and frowned, sighed and tapped Raevynn on the shoulder. "What about attackers and defenders, 116?" She asked, having her shotgun over her shoulder.

Parker watched from the edge Pelican seat, strapping his Battle Rifle to his back and holding his Shotgun in one, grabbing on to the handle above his seat. As both Pelicans took off and headed towards the battlefield, the terrain began to change into forest and grassland. There was a river flowing over in the direction of the bases.

The Blue Team Pelican landed at its base, and everyone piled out. Heading inside the bunker, the Blue Flag sat there, flapping gently into the breeze as it entered the base. Parker turned around and stared at his team. They weren't much, but atleast they were something.

"Alright team. You know the rules of Capture The Flag. A simple grab-and-run mission. I'm going to go frontlines. Wise, you're fast, you get around their snipers and take them out as sneaky as possible. Try not to make a commotion. Jacob, you're good with sniper, right? Then use it. Take out anyone you see coming in the direction of the base. Everyone else, you know what to do. Let's move out!"

Deuce jumped out of the pelican next to the team leader brandishing one of the older MA5B instead of the newer battle rifles that most others had. His secondary was a sniper rifle. His voice was calm and collected as he spoke.

"What are my orders sir?"

As he spoke Deuce thought that if he could provided cover fire with the sniper they might could get the flag. His plan did not want to include close combat but he would follow the orders given. He pulled the MA5B into ready mode and turns the safety off.

Jacob was wielding the Sniper Rifle looking it over in his hands. Every nook and cranny he knew them well. The weapon was basically a part of Jacob it was him and he was it.

Then out of nowhere Jacob heard Rae speak to him. She said, ""I feel pity for anything that strays into your sight, Jacob. But you better watch out. I might just get you this time around."

Jacob looked at her. He knew very well he could take her but he always had to be careful one slip up was all she needed and Jacob would be down and out. He then replied in a light, joking tone, "Don't worry Rae I'm always on the look out for you." He reached over and picked up some smoke grenades and some extra clips for his weapons. Then Mendez told them to hurry. Ambapali spoke in his, "Head oh she had better watch out threatening to take you out like that she doesn't stand a chance."

The flight on the Pelican seemed long and many people were going over discussing the tactics they wanted to use. Parker was the squad leader though his say was final. Jacob just sat there and was getting in the zone. His head was staring at the floor even though his eyes were closed tight.

He was reciting the prayer he always said in his mind.
Lord grant me the strength of arm and the straight of eye. Let not my hands tremble as I send those to meet your open embrace least it be me who you take this day.

Ambapali who had been strangely quite for awhile finally spoke up,"Ok then I've spent the entire time getting my hands on the map of the battleground." She brings up a small square showcasing the field, "There are rivers in the middle along with small open field surrounding it just beyond that are very high and will offer cover from your sight. I've marked a red X on the hill base which affords you the best cover while maximizing your abilities and the range of the weapon. You should be able to cover 3/5s of the field with a 98% hit efficiency from near side of the tall grass to the Rivers Edge. Everything before that is 100% given kill rate for you. You will be able to cover 3/4s of the field with a 80% one shot kill effect. You will be able to remain exactly 91% hidden from view only your shoulders and face will be visible. YOu will have a motion sensor to alert you to close range threats. Alright Hun now go get them and have fun take care of yourself you're the best there is Jacob."

Jacob sat taking in all the information before replying, "Thank you Ambapali."

Once on the field Parker told Jacob to cover the area and he quickly went to the area Ambapali marked for him and sat motionless eyes half looking through the scope half peering outside just like he was taught to do. He was ready his only worry coming from Rae.

Spike put up a hand moved it in circle giving everyone the signal to spread out along the base and cover the flag. Spike then darted off to a corner at the front of the base and went prone with his battle rifle out. He tap the roof of his mouth to open the com link.

"Marie go the other corner of the base and use this help me cover the base and flag so squad leader can go scout."

Spike said over the com link as he threw his assualt rifle down landing next to Marie.

Raevynn turned to face Marie and answer her question. Before she spoke, she noticed the shot gun in the girls hands. Anyone who stepped within Marie's range was instantly going down. That weapon was devastating. "Well Marie, would you rather defend or attack? We're going to need some of our fastest to grab the blue flag, and our strongest to guard ours." Raevynn reached over her shoulder and swung forth her large Sniper Rifle. "Or you could always help me with reconnaissance. I could use some one to watch my six."

As Raevynn waited for Marie's reply, and for the rest of the team to sprout their ideas, she loaded up her rifle. Grabbing a clip, she slid it into the receiver and slapped it in place with the palm of her hand.

[Err, is Deuce on my team? I'm just going to post saying he is.]

Parker stared at Deuce for a bit. He seemed well built, and would make an excellent supporter. "You come with me. I'll need you out on the frontlines with the rest of the team. Follow me." Parker went out the left side of the base, running until he reached the beginning of the forest. From there he walked and motioned everyone forward slowly, speaking so quietly people could barely hear him.

"Go slow and quietly, we don't want to give away our position to the enemy. If you see anyone, get my attention and start crawling if they haven't seen you yet." Parker continued walking and suddenly stopped dead in his tracks when he heard snapping behind him, spinning around and aiming his shotgun, only to find one of his teammates accidentally stepped on a twig. "Sorry.." He muttered, and they continued on.

Spike was loading his battle rifle and getting ready in his spot when Asoskas voice came over his hud.

"Enemies near radar dection a few red blips don't know how many but i suppose you get your team together and ready."

Spike checked his radar and the AI was right there were a few red dots faintly showing in his motion sensor/radar. He then looked over to Rae and his team and turned his com link on.

"Everybody get ready I think they are coming i have a few red dots on my radar check your radars and make sure."

Spike said in a crouched position in the corner of the base with his rifle leveld.

Deuce stayed low behind Parker continuously turning around searching the area for enemies with his enhanced vision. Deuce kept his assault rifle ready and follows Parker until he turns around. Deuce hit the ground abruptly and aimed forward covering their postion.

"What is it sir?"

He looks ahead and waits for a reply from Parker.

"Nothing..Just someone stepping on a twig." Parker looked back at the Spartan behind him. "Though I don't remember having more than six people with us, and I'm counting seven.." Suddenly Parker shot around, firing at the mysterious Spartan, who dropped suddenly, stunned by the shock and force of the bullet. Parker looked at the symbol on the Spartan's armor and cursed. "Damnit, this was a spy. Move!" Parker began running until he reached the open field and the river that seperated both sides, leaving the stunned Spartan laying there until he would come around.

Once he was finished examining the river he motioned his squad to stop. "Take a five minute rest here, then we move on." Parker sat down, keeping his shotgun at the ready incase of an ambush. He replaced the bullet and kept his finger on the trigger.
