[] Yes, it most definitely is still alive, but post in the OOC thread from now on 🙂[]
Raevynn scanned the room for the one weapon that would effectively complement her skills. She spotted it in the back of the room, on the wall surrounded by a handful of others exactly like it. It was among the largest weapons that were in this room, and undoubtedly one of the heaviest. As Raevynn made her way to the SRS99C S2 AM Sniper rifle, she stopped to grab a side arm. A Br55 would have been worth while in her hands, but the risks strongly out weighed the benefits. While her sniper would take care of long range, the Battle Rifle would prove little use in a close combat situation. Instead she scooped up a handful of pistol clips and an M6D pistol.
As she picked up the weapon. Gautama started explaining a few elements of the HUD. He brought up a targeting reticle, and the name of the weapon. He then started explaining to her how to properly secure the weapon to her waist. Apparently the armor eliminated the need for a holster in some cases. Following his instructions, she successfully clipped the pistol to the side of her waist.
Now it was time for her to take care of the heavy weaponry. As Raevynn made her way to the Sniper Rifles, she noticed Jacob. He already had one in his hands. She had nearly forgot his knack for Snipers. He was almost intimidating. Raevynn was great with the Sniper Rifle; a perfect shot. She almost never missed a target. But Jacob was even better. He never failed to impress them with his unsurpassed marksmanship.
Raevynn stepped up the Rifles, reached up and grabbed one off the wall. She gazed at the powerful weapon in her hands, then looked up to Jacob.
"I feel pity for anything that strays into your sight, Jacob. But you better watch out. I might just get you this time around." She joked before grabbing a few extra clips for the heavy weapon.
Nearly ten minutes later, Mendez was barking orders again. "If you're not finished, I suggest you hurry up. We're not waiting around for any one." He wasn't joking either. "Fall in, Spartans, we're moving out."
Mendez and the handful of trainers led the Spartans through the remainder of the complex, and outside to a landing pad where two rumbling pelicans were waiting. They were both ready to take off, hovering about 7 ft. off the ground as their belly engines kicked up a cloud of dust and dirt.
As the trainers started distributing maps, Mendez started yelling over the monstrous sound of the dropships. "Blue team! Front and center!" He waited for the first half of the Spartans to acknowledge his orders, then started roaring again. "You're taking the first pelican out" He pointed. "Double time it!"
Parker led his team to their dropship, and they started piling in one after another. As soon as the last of blue team climbed aboard, Mendez nodded in the direction of the remaining Pelican. "You know where you're headed. Red team, saddle up! Now move it, girls!"
Raevynn jogged foward, glancing over her shoulder at her team behind her. They gave her a jolt of confidence like always. As she approached the roaring pelican, she leapt up, grabbing the edge of the pelicans ramp for support as she heaved herself into the dropship. Turning, she stood near the edge of the ramp, and offered a hand to the Spartan behind her. Raevynn stood there until every last member of her team had climbed aboard and taken a seat. Then finally she seated herself at the end of the bench, taking a deep breath as the pelican lifted upwards and it's ramp sealed shut.
"You kids better win this thing." A cheerful females voice sounded through the intercom. "I'll keep my fingers crossed for you kids." She finished with a laugh.
Raevynn peered out the window beside her at the terrain below. The last time they'd been out in the wilderness of Reach, they were only six years old. She barely remembered it, but she knew enough to know that there would surely be surprises.
The trip seemed to take forever. Raevynn was so eager to put the suit as well as the A.I. through it's passes. It was a boring flight, but soon enough, Raevynn felt her stomach leap into her throat. They were finally landing.
"This is it!" The pilot's voice echoed and moments later, the ramp dropped with a thud, revealing the ground below. "Move it, Spartans!"
Raevynn stood, leaping from the ramp without hesitation. As soon as her feet slammed into the soft dirt, she started to move, making her way to a nearby cement block. Their swaying red flag was planted in the dead center of it. Plain for all to see. This really was going to be a challenge.
