Spike looked at Rae then split it he was at his half energy rate. He ran back up towards the base but he stopped outside the wall and saw that all the red team spartans had been taken out. They must of been taken off guard. There where five blue team spartans inside the red base. Spike ducked out of the cover and fired three controlled bursts and hit three of the spartans. The other two jumped and scattered to dark corners and what not. Then he saw one of the two blue spartans that had survived going for the flag. Spike got his rifle ready and was about to shoot when he was suddenly hit in the side of his neck by the other spartan he was taken off guard. Spike went to the ground but swung his legs out taking out the blue team spartans legs and getting to his own he took the butt of his battle rifle and hit the blue spartan in the faceplate knocing him out. Spike then looked inside the base and saw that the flag was gone. He looked around and didn't see it. He ran around to the back of the base and was about to enter the base when he smacked in the chest with a gun. It was the spartan that ahd taken the flag. Spike went to his knees trying to catch his breath. The blue team spartan took off with the flag. Spike regained his breath and got to his feet he grabbed his assualt rifle and threw it at the spartan hitting him in the back. The spartan dropped the flag and turned around to shot Spike but he was to slow and Spike rolled forward and got to his feet and kneed the spartan in the chest. And hit him in the throat making the spartan go unconcious. Spike grabbed the flag and put it back in its place and took his spot at the front of the base.

Parker had already moved across the river and was making his way through the last bit of forest with only two Spartans left. Alavaka chimed up after they entered the forest. [/i]Receiving a message from Spartan Xero-Eight-Six. You might want to listen. "Blue Squad Leader! This is Spartan Zero-Eight Six requesting to change position!"[/i] Parker ordered his COM to be activated again. "Permission granted. Just make sure to stay nearby incase I need backup. Spartan Zero-Four-Eight, come in! I need that status report, NOW!"

As Parker made his way forward he could see some Reds moving through the forest and ducked down as fast as he could, and his last two teammates followed. Deuce, where are you? Parker thought to himself. Deuce had dissapeared earlier when they were crossing the river and now he needed all the help he could get if he was to get the flag.

Abbra chuckled remorsefully. “So I guess our biggest concern at the moment isn’t winning?” Her hand slid down her face, as if wiping away every shred of hope still left in her. Her exhaustion was mounting, and with it many frustrations. Still, she was determine not to let it show. Getting up from her sitting position she kneeled. “I guess it’s a just buying ourselves time then. I say the best way to go is go around to the back of the base; chances are it’s relatively unguarded at the moment. Plus there’s a lot of brush around it, which makes it the perfect place to hide if he get rushed. You do realize that I’m not going to be the one running with it though, I’m half beat.”

You’re half dead too. I told you not to do it on your own! You know, you have to meet me half way on this saving you thing. I can try to keep you safe, but thinking you can pull off some kind of act like that on your first day of the job...!” Danton raged it was becoming obvious, even from the first day that was as motherly as she was. ”I wouldn’t do this if I were you. You are going to hurt yourself if you push it hard, it’s dangerous!”

Abbra rolled her eyes at her A.I. dismissing what he had to say. “I laugh in the face of danger. Hahaha” She replied, quoting a line from her favorite childhood film. She coughed into her hand for a moment before focusing on Rae. “That’s all I have to say. When we leave, well that is entirely up to you to delegate.”

"Good idea." Raevynn replied. "We'll need to keep an eye out for Jacob. He's hiding around here somewhere. I just know they haven't taken him out yet."

Raevynn then snapped her pistol back in place, and retrieved her Sniper rifle. "Let's do this then. We'll decide how to deal with the flag when we get there. "

Still crouched, Raevynn moved forward, gesturing for Abbra to follow her. She moved at a steady pace untill the rushing gurgle of the river could be heard right ahead of them.

Raevynn poked the barrel of her sniper through the thick reeds and out into the open. Raising the rifle to her face, she peered through her scope, beginning to scan for signs of blue team. There was nothing. No movement at all. Even her radar was clear. "Looks good. Now we just have to cross this river. Any ideas? Or shall we just swim?" She smiled underneath her helmet, knowing they probably had little choice in the matter.

“I know, he’s has an uncanny ability to vanish. I don’t really understand how he does it.” She watched Raevynn grab her ranged weapon and did the same, securing the shotgun to her back as she pulled out her equally dangerous scoped rifle. “Nothing better then improve.” She said with a bright smile, eager to be working with somebody she actually enjoyed to be around. “You sure? I have a bad feeling about it…” She muttered, using the scope of her rifle to inspect the opposite bank. Nothing came into her field of vision, but that did not convince her to shake the feeling.

Tearing her gaze away, she peered at Raevynn. “It’s my choice?” She asked rather smugly, placing an armored hand on her chest. “Well…” Without warning, Abbra seized her allies hand and dragged her in. “Haven’t been for a swim for an awfully long time.” She cackled, hoping that would justify her actions.

Outside, Axel watched the event proceed through a number of devices and assorted equipment along with some of Reach's personnel. Situated on an AWACS Plane, he'd taken up temporary residence with Lucente, Banken, and Yi. As he told Lt. Julius, they'd also been on Onyx checking up on things and they owed him a favor.

Info came from various readouts, positioning, individual status. Heart rates, reaction times. How coordinated they were, what strategies they used... He frowned, they were doing good, but not good enough.

"Something on your mind Spartan 010?"

He blinked. "No... they're good at what they do, just not good enough. For my expecations anyway." He grinned. "The problem is, they're only a little bit better than my Spartans when they went through this exercise. They should be a lot better..." He turned toward the three others with him, "I think I'm going to go put some idea into action." He said, "Take us down?"

________________________________________________________

“There, it’s done.” Spartan 064 turned to the two other people in his immediate command. He could tell both were eager to get out there and get into the action, but so far Red Team had coordinated the movement of their troops to make it seem like there were more of them, so almost half the team had remained underground, and they were now far into Blue Team’s territory, mean while designated “Medics” along with their teams were moving to “patch up” their fallen comrades. Three of the Spartans on Red Team were further trained of infiltration of systems, and therefore they had devised a plan to fool the other Spartan’s HUD to register kills on Red Team to confirm a defeat. Now a small army of ghosts was going to teach Blue Team a lesson. Elimination of one Squad had already been the result, and using the same tactic on the HUD, Blue Team was not as likely to notice ad quickly. They didn’t register as tagged, it simply appeared as an error in the HUD. With the AI’s helping them, even Blue Team’s AI’s couldn’t fix the problem without a fight. “Alright, Takai and Carwyn were moving to coordinates 45, 92. We’re falling behind the rest of the Team, we have to stay coor-“

Spartan 064 pitched forward as a blow to the back of his head succeed in draining his MJOLNIR’s energy shield, and continue with enough force to either kill him or render him unconscious. Takai and Carwyn’s weapons were both raised with admirable speed but fractions of a second later one dropped as a silent shot from a side arm connected with his head. The other was lifted into the air by something unseen, and he managed to shout for help over the com-link before his shields popped and he to fell to the ground unconscious.

“Six Four?” A voice came over the com-link. A hundred meters away, Spartan 396 looked at her HUD in confusion and felt a cold feeling find it’s way into her gut. The three Spartan’s weren’t showing up as tagged. Their life signs had flat lined.

They were registered as dead.

Yi had been meaning to talk to Spartan 116, but Mendez appeared and started the CTF game before she got the chance.

A few minutes later, as they packed up what little equipment they had, Banken informed her that they were headed out into one of the wilderness training areas for their game.

Twenty minutes later Yi, Lucente, and Banken were in the air, in an AWACS command plane, watching a live feed of the game that Banken had accessed for them. Banken was watching it in virtual reality through his implant, fingers moving and adjusting something constantly through his virtual keyboards.

Lucente pointed out Spartan 116's tactics--she was clearly the best sniper/scout in the group, even though her data said she wasn't necessarily the best shot.

Axel 010 had joined them, and was observing the Spartans with a frown on his face. It was obvious that he felt somehow responsible for the discipline problems the Spartans were exhibiting.

"Something wrong, Spartan 010?" asked Yi.

Raevynn crouched silent beside Abbra. Both girls swept their rifles from side to side, scanning the area untill Abbra broke the silence.

Wondering what she had in mind, Raevynn turned to face her. Before she could get a single word out, Abbra had grabbed her by the hand and plunged into the river. Unable to get a proper footing in her crouched position, she topped over head first into the river beside Abbra.

The water was a bit deeper than she had anticipated. Almost to her shoulders when she finally resurfaced and stood. Amazingly, their helmets gave them oxygen support. While submerged, she could still breath.

"You should warn me next time." She said, struggling to maintain her serious composure. A laugh was just inches from bursting through her mouth. "Lets move then, shall we."

Raevynn trudged through the river, bending her knees as she moved into the shallow water near the bank of the river. Eventually, she kneeled down so that only her head and rifle were visible above the running water. "We're going to need a plan to get behind that base." She whispered, peering through her scope again.

Parker cursed loudly, knowing he would draw attention of the Reds. "Damnit, I can't wait anymore. We'll need to try it with only us three, even though it is suicide. Let's move!" As Parker made his way through the last bit of Red Team's forest, he could see the base, and a lot of Reds guarding it. Luckily, they hadn't seen him yet.

Alavaka sighed from inside Parker's head. This is suicide, ki-I mean, Parker. If you charge in there we're surely to lose. We're losing already, i'm detecting some Red's underground and heading towards our base, picking off Blue's as they go. We're done for, might aswell surrender already.

Parker shook his head. "No way, we're not surrendering." Parker's COM activated for the last time. "Blue's, listen up. I'm going for the flag. This will determine if we win or not. Defend the base with your lives. If I go down, it's up to you guys to steal the flag and run to back to the base. Good Luck. Spartan One-One-Five out."

With that, Parker charged into the Red Base and opened fire.

Jacob was crouched moving slowly from point to point trying to stay in the hills or random patches of. He would stay there for a few minutes to scan barely breathing before moving to the next spot. He knew Rae would be close by. She was a sneaky one the best in fact. Jacob had turned this into her game. He was hoping that his quicker better shot would net him the "kill" over her.

Just then Jacob heard heard a large splash coming from the River Sector. Jacob whispered, "Ambapali confirm if friendly." Ambapali chimed back, "Confirmed unfriendlies I'll bring up the relative location associated with the noise and the best location from which to view it."

Jacob looked at the mini map that had been broughten up. There was a little hill aboout 2oo yards from the basic location the noise came from. Jacob was almost hesitant to risk going there. No way could it be Rae, she would never make that much noise. Still being the only person left to guard the base Jacob had to go check it out.

Jacob began to stalk his way to the hill. He had his sniper rifle fully loaded and ready. It was pressed hard against his shoulder. He made it to the hill and began to overlook the area. There was tall grass and the river ran preey wide. He still didn't know exactly where the noise ahd come from so he could only gaze the area for now and hope the people would give up more of there location fast.

She watched her resurface, somewhat humored by her team mates less than graceful landing. Still, she felt rather guilty about completely immersing her. “Alright, I’ll make a mental note.”

Abbra floundered around to get a secure footing. It was almost eerie to be in water, but the not feel wet. So much so, it was slightly sidetracking. The further the pair got down the river, the further the pair sank to camouflage themselves. Water rushed against her, attempting to tear her feet out of the strong mainstay she had found. Slowly, she followed her ally into shallower waters.

“I lack originality.” She muttered, sounding rather zombie like, as if transfixed by the scope on her weapon. “Although I say we play it cool, no rushing in guns blazing sort of thing. I say our best bet is to creep along the bank, hiding behind the reeds and long grass until we come across better shelter. Then we slowly make our way up to the base – like I said before.” Abbra brought her gun down away from her face to stare at the terrain. “Although if you have a better idea please share, because mine is amateur and full with gaping flaws.”

Some Spartans from Red Team who had been on the offensive were already preparing an assault on Blue Base. Two teams, eleven Spartans in total. Since approximately slighly over half of each team, it was the largest single force currently in the game, most likely out numbering any Spartans Blue Team had "patched up" with their medics or ones left in reserve. Some how, it seemed Blue Team had managed to jam their communicatons. Their AI's claimed they were unable to resolve the issue, but were working toward a solution. They were all eager, it would be an assault. Seconds later, they broke from cover and charged the open distance toward the enemy base.

Some Blues came from hiding and opened fire. Red Team fired back less than ten rounds before their fire shifted as two people on their flanked dropped cold, their shields flashing brightly as they overloaded. Red Team turned to face the new threat, whilst some scattered fire from confused Blue Team Spartans slowed. Three more Spartans dropped. One fell straight down, as if a truck had been dropped on him. The other was hit with enough force to send him several yards through the air, motionless as he spun end over end as his world had already gone black. The third was spun around, where he seemed to struggle against something invisible before he was lifted into the air and wrenched into a spin before he hit the ground, a flash of what looked like a blade dissapearing from sight. The two Spartans from Blue Team on the ground, forty yards away also dropped moments later, one fell the other slammed backwards against the base. All were unmoving, none responded to their surroundings. All their life signs had flatlined, registered as dead.

Blue Team quickly confirmed they had no one flanking Read Team's force, which had scattered in all directions to escape and regroup against whatever it was that had rampaged through their team. They signaled Parker, alerting him to the disspearance of Spartan 064's team, and the events happening at their base. An unencrypted transmission soon came from Red Team on a short range frequency, something had begun elimating all Spartans, reglardless of team, seemingly at random. And whatever it was, it was moving very, very fast.

Spartan 108 glanced back at the remainder of Red Team's assault, "Alert Spartan 116 to our status and inform the team on what happened, 238 signal the base at Reach, ask them what the hell is going on. We're moving to Blue Base, it's a more defendable position than out here."

"Communications with HQ at Reach are being jammed sir." 238's reply came back almost instantly.

108 frowned. "Can Blue Team reach them?"
____________________________________________________________

Spartan 193 of Blue Team cautiously walked out toward the Spartans of Red Team that had been attacked. Slowly, he turned over the one who'd fallen last. Looking at his neck, where the flash of metal had come from, he was indeed rewarded by a sticky bloody mess. "Negative Red Team." He said suddenly. "Communications with Reach are cut off. Move to our location until we can find out what's happening." He stood, quickly retreating to the base. "Parker." He said suddenly, a momentary laspe of formalities. "Spartans of both teams have just been killed, they're registering as KIA on our HUD. Members of Red Team are moving to our location so we can form a capable defense and Spartan 116 is being informed of the situation. What are your orders?"

Jacob was looking through the scope until he finally saw what he was looking for. It was two people moving across the river only their sniper rifles and their heads were visible. The armor was amazing it took the medium sized ripples for Jacob to find their position. Jacob looked straight into Scope and focused on the furtherest Spartan from him. It was a little trick the sniper teacher taught him. You shoot the the one on the other side and the first reaction of their comrades is to look in the direction of their fallen teammate leaving them open for a split second.

Jacob was about to squeeze the trigger and let the stun round fly but then he heard some buzzing and Ambapali chiming in, "Don't Jacob we just picked up a transmission from Blue base saying that an unknown just finished attacking both the red and blue team. There are confirmed KIAs Jacob and transmissions sent out to both Parker and Rae."

Jacob turned his sniper rifle over to Blue base he saw the faint outlines of bodies on the ground. He couldn't see any hostiles though.

"Jacob what are we going to do?" was the question Ambapali posed to him. Jacob took a quick second then decided it would be best to hook up with these two Spartans in the River. He jumped over the hill and began to move down the hill. Jacob had reached the bottom of the hill. He would have been about 10 yards from them now. He just hoped they had gotten some word on the current events and wouldn't shoot him.

"Red team members we need to group up we have a problem," Jacob semi whispered in their direction.

Parker stopped firing and looked around. Red Team had stopped firing too and were listening in on their COMS. Suddenly, a message was coming into his from Spartan 193. "Parker. Spartans of both teams have just been killed, they're registering as KIA on our HUD. Members of Red Team are moving to our location so we can form a capable defense and Spartan 116 is being informed of the situation. What are your orders?"

Parker's heart began to race. "Dead? That means that whatever is shooting at us it between the Red Base, which is my current position, and the Blue Base. If I try to go out there with the Reds over here and my last two men, we'll be killed. Spartan One-One-Five, out." Parker held his shotgun in hand and kept his finger on the trigger as sweat dripped down his cheek from inside his helmet.

Deuce's vision cleared up and he heard the last transmission. "Sir, are these reports true? Do we have casualties on field?" Getting up slowly off the ground, noticing the cease fire he tried to move to a more secured location. "There are registered KIA's on my HUD." was the only thought racing throught Deuce's mind as he moved to the outer wall of Red Base. Breathing nervously and thoughts blaring through his mind all he could was wait for a responce from the team leader.

The Spartans had only begun to set up a defence system by the time their enemy had decided to dismantle it. Spartan 183 turned the moment his motion tracker picked up movement. He saw a flash of black metallic armour, something unlike anything he’d seen before, Covenant or UNSC, and then something like a moving brick wall slammed into him, sending him flying off the edge of their fortification. He crashed through a slab of concrete before hitting the ground. Two bolts of white light hit his armour, and he lay motionless. There was a heavy thud accompanied with two indentations in the ground, then all was silent.

Parker whirled around when he heard something behind him, and saw one of his teammates fall with a heavy thud to the ground, and something that looked almost faint was standing on top of him. Parker began sprinting towards the faint object, and once he was close enough he slammed the barrel of the shotgun on the objects back and pulled the trigger. The force of the stun bullet went right through the object and it let out a loud shriek that could be heard for miles. Once it's camouflage broke off, Parker cursed loudly. "Watch out boys, we got company."

As he turned around, Parker switched on his COM. "Both teams, we got trouble here, we are being attacked by the Covenant. I repeat, we are under attack by the Covenant. Stun bullets won't do any good unless they're right up close, so I hope most of you brought your shotguns. I declare Covenant hunting season officially open. Spartan One-One-Five out."

😛 I dont think there would be any Covenant on Reach Rodgort.

"Now that's a mistake." A disembodied voice said. The camo had faded around the point of impact revealling a black metallic armor. The force rippled over the body, a clear outline of the suit of armor becoming visible as well as a flash of an ethereal humanoid form before the camo reinsertred itself. "Not many Covenant like to fight like I do."

Parker's suit poweree down and his AI deactivated as a bolt of white light connected with the back of his MJOLNIR. "You should never turn your back to an enemy unless you know it's dead." The same voice said. "Don't bother trying to talk to your companions, your AI's have agreed to co-operate so as far as they can tell you're dead. The armor's powered down and locked in place, you can't move. You can still listen in on your Spartan's com though."

Parker's gun disapeared from in front of his visor. "It's a glancing blow, so this stage wont last long. A few minutes at best, then you'll be up and running. That's how the game goes. By that time they'll know what's going on." Something knocked on the side of Parker's helmet. "Don't fall asleep in there."

____________________________________________________________

"These Spartans are too mathematical." He reported, sending a message a overhead plane would be able to pick up. "They need more experience. Reading them is like reading the pages in a book, you can always tell where the author is going to go." He lifted a fully automatic version of the side arm he'd been using. "Lets see if they can get creative."

Moments later white light began to rain down upon the Spartans at Blue Team's base. Only two managed to find thier way to the woods. The invisible form knelt down over his latest victim. "Seems like the rest are playing hide and seek. Pick them off if they try to leave the zone marked for their Capture The Flag or if they find a way to cheat." He looked down at the cut on the side of his armor. "That would be no fun, and this is game. Those stun rounds are no joke."

[] Don't worry, Parker's not out of the game. 😛 He's back up once things start rolling. []

[First of all, you said yourself in one of your posts. So I'm right. Second of all, you are NOT allowed to control my character. Have you seen anyone else here control you? NO!]

On the command jet, parked a short distance from the practice ground, Tor Banken was getting agitated.

It wasn't obvious, but Col. Yi knew what was going on. He was jerkier than usual, and tapped his fingers a little before he caught himself--and did it again and again. After Banken had hacked into the system for Axel's AI, Nebuchadnezzar, the AI had quickly convinced the other AIs to go with Axel's plan to throw a little chaos into the equation. Banken had simply opened the door, and watched things unfold. Now, over an hour later, he was bored.

The Spartan III's were getting virtually slaughtered wholesale through the hack Banken had put in place. It was more than a lesson--it was an ego trip. Someone was having too much fun.

For a few minutes, his hands moved in a rhythmic fashion, dancing in the air. Then he turned to Yi, and placed his gloved hand on Yi's. It was telling that she didn't flinch.

After the data-burst transmission scrolled into her HUD from her suit's interface (all three ODSTs had suited up in their armor before taking off on the AWACS), Yi nodded slightly, enough for Banken to see. Checking to make sure that no one could see, she flashed a few hand signals to Lucente: go covert, follow me, cover us, minimal force. Although Lucente had barely worked with Yi at all, she seemed to understand perfectly. She made fists with her hands, and held them up, thumbs to her chest. The symbol of the Double Ought.

Moments later, the pilot glanced around, wondering why there was a draft. The back of the plane was empty, the door hanging open. She shrugged and closed it.

***************

((Spartan 183 isn't anyone's character, right? An NPC? Sorry if I'm wrong, if you object just make it another random NPC Spartan-III))

Spartan-183's neck was starting to hurt. The suit had frozen him at an awkward angle when he "died", and his legs had gone numb. A shadow appeared above him, although he'd heard nothing approach. His BR55 had been lying on the ground next to him; he heard the magazine eject, and then felt something drop next to his head, kicking up dust. The MJOLNIR was amazingly sensitive for a suit of armor.

"Spartan. . . 183. You're getting a second chance. We're going to pull you out of AI control entirely, which has a number of advantages. Mainly that the AIs won't be able to lock up your suit any more. But the disadvantages are that you won't be able to interact with the VR systems any more. Your comm is going to be disabled; your weapons won't disable any active Spartans; and you won't be able to score with the flag. I'm confident, however, that you'll still be an asset to your team. Remember that your weapon won't be effective in stopping your opponents, so don't use it against them. You'll regret it if you hurt any of your fellow soldiers."

The MJOLNIR suddenly unlocked, and 183 reached for his BR55. It wasn't there. Stiffly, he got to his feet, grabbing the magazine which had been next to his head, and looked around. There was no one nearby. His gun was sticking out of the ground about a dozen meters away.

((OK, feel free to post my characters come by and unlock any Spartans that were "killed" by any of LF's characters. Just remember that if you try anything stupid, your character will reget it. And remember the restrictions once your character is entirely out of the training AI's system.))
