Wait... are you sure he is fighting the " popular" corner? I haven't seen a single news or political poll in close to a year that has the current Administration popular or approved by the majority. In fact, if one can put any trust in such things, it would seem PVS is part of the quite majority that has realized that recent events and decisions where not necessarily in the best interests of the US, nor did any favors to the image of them.

Well,if I where in your shoes, what I would do is simple, I would inform the person that I didn't vote and nor do I support President Bush, (though I do) BUT I would then support my country in anyway I could, solidarity! Maintain your dignity as an American! There's allot of immigrants every year who want to be American, so it can't be that bad a country!

I agree with the first part (inform that not every American can be tarred with the same brush) - however a person shouldn't give in and toe a line for the purpose of solidarity. Far better to be seen as a conscientious, intelligent US citizen who is actually doing what he sees as right for his nation, not just saying " well, whats done is done. Might as well just accept it" - because when that happens those who hold as universal view of a nation being whatever start to seem more right.

Well, I think seeing as very few people on this board support Bush, that, being an american who doesn't support him makes him in the popular corner!

ok, i figured i would put myself on the slab for the good of discussion, however it seems as a result people focus on the real me rather than this hypothetical character named after me who gives a damn what america-bashers think of him. maybe i should have titled this person differently. my bad though, i guess "pvs" is a badge of scrutiny, so lets call this person "citizen X", if you please. or tag on any name you wish. whatever.

my purpose is to pick at the brain of the america basher and see what makes him/her tick. i want to see if perhaps they have ever pondered what they would do in an american's shoes. although i expected this to be rhetoric, i had and still have the hope that one of these people might actually state their solution, as opposed to the typical "hang your head in shame" wagging finger nonsense.

i see...the error was calling yourself pvs because it would get responses mostly from the people who dont like you individualy rather than americans as a whole

the other error was and is, of course "i had and still have the hope"

then again...it's pretty difficult to answer without knowing what citizen x has already done to change the situation

if citizen x didn't vote...he/she should do next time...if citizen x can give some time to campaigning against those he/she disagrees with...he/she should...if citizen x has friends who support the opposition then he/she should try and convince them of the error of there ways

if citizen x really wants to get rid of the republicans..then he/she should not waste their vote on the following
