He failed to mention that those "house hold comforts" are actually the magical powers all Americans share. But, PVS does have a nice replica lightsabre. And what, pray tell, is the benefit of renouncing citizenship online?

Seems like a petulant, useless thing to do. I am sure that is going to make Bush sit up and think "Ye-haw, this is an eye opener!" - and ultimately you'll still pay taxes, still use the money of the nation you have renounced, still use phone lines and electricity and public roads. The only thing that would change, if one took it seriously, is that you wouldn't be able to vote in elections, thus sacrificing the one tiny bit of influence a person in a democratic nation has.

And besides, just because one is disappointed in their nation doesn't mean they no longer wish to belong to it. In fact, it is all the more important to be seen as a citizen of the nation in question. People standing up and going "I am America/English/Iranian/whatever, and I love my nation, but don't like what it is doing. I wont run a way, I wont give up, I wont pretend I am not a citizen, what I will do is stand up for what I believe in. I do this because this is MY nation."
