Dumb American

This British aquaintence of mine went on Holiday to Florida. In a bar he over-heard two marines bragging on how good the US was in Iraq ; they bragged about how no US casualties were sustained in the invasion.

The Britich heard him and said: "You Dumb Idiots shot and killed British soldiers, in friendly fire ; What do you have to answer for that ? Where was your technology ?"

The Marines walked away without uttering a single word. So where the US Marines dumb ?

Of cousre not. Shit happens in life, and war is no different, ese. It wasn't intentional.

Me too. He must have gotten his branches of the military confused. Maybe they were actually in the Navy. Well, the Marines are part of the Navy, but you understand what I'm saying.

On another note, granted that it was not intentional, it highlights the issue that the US forces were dumb enough to strike there own coalition forces. Had they killed the Brits intentionally, it would not be dubbed as 'dumb' because of its purposefulness.

If was not on purpose, then it must have been carelesness and a move based on lack of proper preapration resulting in a piss poor performance in the Gulf War.

Am I thinking of a different Iraqi invasion? Because I am fairly sure more then a few US soldiers did die. In both. If they believed what they were saying, while not perhaps being dumb, it would certainly be a sign of ignorance.
