I think that the three main actors looks pretty good and with good acting in the trailer, Di Caprio , Damon and Nicholson. Mark Whalberg reviews have been very positive too.

Yeah I agree.. I love all the four main actors. When I saw all the people in it I was like 😱

I just got back from this, I was very surprised. I've never enjoyed any of Scorsese's work, but this is an exception. The film starts out pretty, but just hang on for fifteen minutes and enjoy the rest. I enjoyed it much more than "Infernal Affairs", especially the ending. I went it with the lowest expectations one could have, and I gotta say, it's currently my favorite film of 2006.

Who would have guessed.

Also, see "Infernal Affairs" first. In some aspects it has the edge over "The Departed".

It's getting fabulous reviews, looks like one of the good remakes.

Oh good, I was hoping it was going to be as good as it looked.

Please let me get in, if I don't see it in the cinema I won't be very happy 🙁

Pretty good movie, if you feel the movie dragging on just wait till the end, its pretty intense.

Infernal Affairs was crap.

Too much to read, was it?

The acting was great. I really liked the supporting performances done by Rolston and O'Hara

Pretty good movie. The tone was pretty comedic in places - especially Whalberg, who was excellent - but it also had a good tension running through it. Overall, I think 'Infernal Affairs' was better, though. It had even stronger performances between the two leads, and the relationship between the police boss and the gang boss was much more fricative.

As for that ridiculous final shot in 'The Departed'...why, Martin? WHY? Did you think we didn't get it? ARE WE IDIOTS? Pur-lease...

Yeah, I didn't think the

Spoiler:
rat
was really necessary. But I'm fine with it.

I have no problem with the ending. I don't think it matters that the symbolism wasn't suttle.

Why even have the 'symbolism' if it was totally unnecessary? I think the fact that the story revolved around two people giving information to the other side, coupled with Jack doing rat impressions, drawing pictures of rats, and continually saying "I smell a rat..." was more than enough. Even for stupid people...

Wahlberg was great....glad i aint seen the original....would have killed the ending for me...WOW

I don't think it is unnecessary. Its good to end a movie with one thing that is symbolic for the movie as a whole.

I'm going to watch this on Wednesday..

I guess you didn't see incongruity between a movie about stealth and a final shot which is the equivalent of being banged over the head with the movie's theme...

Well, I guess if you didn't like it, thats your opinion.

Of course it is!

Yeah, Scorsese doesn't trust his audience much.

I don't know why he put it in there. It was a pretty good movie, but that last shot just made me cringe.

Anyway, one of my favorite scenes was the one between Dignam(Wahlberg) and Ellerby(Baldwin) in the office when they start talking about each other's mothers. It was classic, I was laughing my ass off.
