Lol, splitting hairs. There is nothing saying there was not a visual component. And still whether or not there is text reference to it, there is no statement against literal visions.
Visual visions are not in what we would call "true life", but symbolic to ones understanding of them......they mean different things to different people..........for instance, If I had one, YOU would not be able to understand it, just as I would not of you..........they are personal and would be understood ONLY by the ones receiving them..

Besides that visions are always symbolic........
You are still in error as to your initial statement on visions. It is a statement of absolute when there is no support for it being absolute. The vision I quoted is stated to be a vision, thus this vision was literal.
A better statement would be this:
"Besides that recorded visual visions have always been symbolic........"
Matthew 17:1-9
1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
literal vision? I would assume it to be.
Yes, you are right, I should of specified that............cause I was talking visual visions.......... 🙂
For instance as an example......I could have a vision of a "red line".......to you it might mean nothing, but to me it would mean that someone "red a line" that I wrote........also another example would be ....If I had a vision of a heart with a hole in it.......to me it would mean whole hearted, though you may not..........another example.......if I saw a fox that was panting and really hot, the first thing that would pop into my mind was that "boy that fox is hot".............though you might not see it this way ( only being a tired fox)...........I believe what I would call god, knows how we would interrupted things and apply them.............imo

Why would you call a red line "red a line"?
Why would you call a heart with a hole "whole hearted"?
You just turned a red line to read a line and a heart with a hole to someone that has a full heart. Basically what you have said made no sense.
