I grew up on Nintendo, having played on an NES since I was 2 years old. I have a PS2 though, not a Gamecube, and while I like the PS2, my brother and I got it primarily for a couple of games we wanted (Final Fantasy and GTA). When it comes to the PS3 and Wii...Wii wins hands down. There's no guarantee FF is going to stay exclusive to Sony anymore, and other games like Zelda and Mario win it for me.
I grew up on Sega. I played genisis when I was 2. I wanted to get an N64 so bad, but my brother wanted to get a playstation, so we got a playstation. Which I believe was a good decision on his part.

Why am I not gone yet. I want to leave, but I can't. curse you KMC!

Not every game is going to be on the DS.

Yeah, definitely. I still have most of my NES games, but as they're all 17-18 years old, a lot don't work anymore, which sucks.

that is why im gonna buy it. i have alot of sega and snes games as well, and only about half of them work.

I'm a teenage boy. I buy all kinds of games that aren't violent. I buy sports and racing games. But mostly everything else is violence because it's a fighting game (like dragonball Z) an adverture game (Like Jak or Ratchet) a shooting game (like gun) or a movie game (like star wars) which all have violence in them. Different degrees of it, of course.

Where did I say "every teenage guy likes senseless violence"?

I know a ton of gamers. I'm a pretty big gamer myself, which considering I mod VG shouldn't be too much of a surprise. And for the most part, what I've seen among people I know personally, online, and just looking stuff up, people who are into games like GTA and stuff tend to be between 14 and 20 and male. But that doesn't mean only those people like those types of games, or everyone in that range likes those sorts.

I tend to believe all age ranges of gamers contribute to a system's sales, even the older gamers who for example may have been original fans of the first MK games and still await each new addition.

It basically depends on the game makers, but if a game utilizes the PS3's blu-ray correctly, you could make a pretty amazing game. Seriously. You could have every single good mario game on one disc with blu-ray. But that's up to the game makers to deliever.

I heard that one of the FF games for Sony had subliminal messages, and one guy played it so much he commited suicide, i think it was a bunch of bull though. am i allowed to say bull?

But I do enjoy senseless violence. Just not in excess. I like a good storyline in games. Too much plotless violence will make me treat the game like a frisbee.

I come from a household where every single video game system was available. I can truthfully say, that i had the funnest experiances with the nintendo systems, though sega did have a lot of games that i was really into.

Yes you are. But that happens with a lot of weird things. Like that who "Helter Skelter incident"

Gah, why am I still here on the computer, in my hot as hell hallway, instead of in my room, air-conditioned, playing video-games.

Lana, make me leave somehow!

PS3's going to use Blu-Ray discs, which mostly the reason it's going to be so expensive. They're making a huge deal out of this, but it's such a brand-new technology that it'll be a few years yet before people are really using it widely, so I think they're really jumping the gun with it.

There's also a piece of tech that Sony's developed that will lock a game to a system - once the game's played on that particular PS3 it won't work on another one, meaning you can't borrow or lend games, or trade them in/buy used ones. Whether or not this will be put on the system isn't confirmed, but if they did, they'd be shooting themselves in the foot and probably loose a LOT of potential sales.

I've had NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Sega Game Gear, N64, PSX, GBA, and PS2. My brother and I've decided that we're getting the Wii once it comes out, and hopefully I'll be buying a DS soon.

I come from a gaming family 😛

I have a DS. I compleately reccommend it. Get Mario Kart DS and NEw super mario Bros. 2 very fun DS games.

I know this sounds lame, but I can't wait for the DS pokemon game to come out....

I personally never have heard about that. But people like to blame anything they possibly can on video games so yea ermm I don't buy that in the least, btw, that people are influenced by things they see in games.
