I just think the compass isnt working full stop because he already knows what he wants..so it doesnt need to show him that..and he doesnt actually want to save his own life so its not showing him that either..so it points nowhere...if it was pointing at lots of things it would settle for a while on the thing he wants most at the time..but it doesnt..it just flips around. ..I assume that it settles on Liz at the end because by that time his heart really did "only want to save himself"...but then he starts to remember Liz..and his heart is telling him to go back..he looks at the compass and it tells to go there to her..it sort of reminds him again that he really wants her...
It makes sense of Tia saying "ah Jack sparrow does not know what he wants..or do know"
So by this point in the story he must have known what his heart wanted so thats why the compass wont settle on it..and its not gonna show him what his brain wants(chest) so it flips around...its broke..
When ever Liz got attention from jack..the compass would point to him..but they must have got to the location of the chest somehow..so whenever Jack wasn't making her want him..it must have been pointing to the chest instead..
My point being...that the compass only points to what the person yearns for at the time..With Liz..every time Jack showed her attention the compass would settle slap bang on him:
When he first gives it to her..he's obviously making her feel special..the compass points at him.
Just after the sexual suggestion scene the compass points right at him
Just after the curiosity scene (almost kiss)..it points to him on the beach..
but the compass MUST have been pointing to the chest at other times when Jack was not there to make her want him..otherwise how did they even get there?
So with jack.. I think he knows what he secretly yearns for....so the compass wont point to it..and its not pointing to anything else because he dosnt REALLY want anything else in his life. I dont think he likes the fact that this is happening to him..his brain is still telling him that he is more important than what his heart wants..he's just trying not to listen to it..he's trying to shut it out..
but at the end I think his heart was telling him to save his own skin...and he does..but then he's looking at the pearl..and his heart starts to yearn again..and he looks at it and it points right at the pearl (Liz)
so... could this mean Liz just wants attention?
I always question why the compass is pointing at Jack. Of course, I think deep down she wants him...
But after Norrington says "So you never wondered how your latest fiance ended up aboard the flying dutchman..." Is Liz just wanting most to know HOW Will DID end up aboard it, and the compass is pointing to Jack because He knows?
Obviously it must continue to point to Jack, for Liz to ask "why doesn't your compass work?" But at that point, Elizabeth has a theory that it isnt working for Jack because he is a good man... so it must not be working for her, because she is bad... make sense? i dont know... hahaha. the compass confuses me
it might have been pointing at the chest because she wanted to help Jack instead of Will...like Beckett said "you seem to be going through lot of trouble to ensure Jack's safty" then she's all in denial and says "NO its Will!"..so maybe it was pointing to the chest so she could save Jack..Which is why I really think that she escaped in the first place 😂 and so does Beckett...
but when Jack shows her attention too..she's like..."WOW" and her compass points right at him..she wants him badly...and this might be what makes her want to save him too by finding the chest..
And when it points to her after what Norrington says..Thats up for debate.I have no clue why it pointed there..it may have been because of the attention she just got..or it may have been to answer the question..but why would the compass answer a question she wants to ask? how would her heart know the answer to something she already DOESN'T know the answer to?
Thats the whole point of a question like that..you dont know the answer..so how can HER heart tell her the answer to that kind of question? It cant..
It can answer questions like..what does my heart really want..cheese or chocolate?" your heart can tell you because its what you want most at the time
but not " has Jack betrayed me?" how can your heart tell you?..it doesnt know the answer to that 😂
And if the compass points to the means of saving Will. It doesnt mean she wants him as a man in her life she..her heart just wants him to be safe he's still a part of her life, she loves him.
But when it comes to Jack...and he's all over her all she can think of is him, she forgets about saving Will..her heart wants Jack as a man in her life..its all she can think of...she is IN LOVE with him..
even when Will has escaped..the compass points right at Jack and not where Will comes from on the beach..
I'm still gonna say that she wants to help Jack out more when it comes to the chest..she does know he needs it..
Okay I'm feeling doubtful...I so dislike when I start feeling this way...just was searching the net on Johnny deep _Oh, Johnny...clicked on a message board and they were talking about the POTC 3 script...it says that Will thinks Liz is in love with Jack...but in fact she is not, she is just feeling remorseful.....it says that Jack sails off into the horizon at the end of POTC 3 with Gizelle and Scarlett on each an arm...that would explain that pic that pops up where he has each of them on his arm...and that Will and Liz are married somewhere in POTC 3....

no..the only confirmed leaked script is the first 57 pages...according to wikipedia..I think These people are full of shit..they have just seen those few pictures and are automatically thinking that its to do with the ending..it seems like from those few pages that that its only remorse..but thats only the begining..she's still in denial..and from those first few pages..Will shows that he thinks she wants him..but she's in denial about it..

...they need to remember the way the script writers for PotC do their patterns with the movies/trilogy. The beginning of their movies are always the"Oh damn she doesnt want him moment"..the middle is the "OMG does she? moment".....and the end is the OMG YES she does!!..moment
this even hapens when you place the pattern over the trilogy as a whole..
Who the hell would post any leak, real or not, to people? See, unfortunately, they leave the the love triangle open ended. Jack may love his Lizzie and she may love him, but everyone at the end of the first film thought oh, Liz must love Will and he must love her. While I endorse LovelyOne's theory and hope to God she's right, we don't know for sure. It would be easy for Liz to go back to Will because he has another chance to win her back in this third one. It would be easy for Jack to go back to his hookers because he has the chance to. You see what I mean? We are at the mercy of the writers and what the actors want to do with their characters.
But this "leaked" script better be fake or just speculation. They can't leak a script if they haven't completed it yet, so I doubt it is real, but that doesn't mean it is how the movie is going to end. Hell, Liz might die before either Jack or Will have the opportunity to hear her final choice.
I'll just be so disappointed if Jack goes back to his hookers...then his character will seem so shallow to me...I know....it's true what you say the actors want....cuz we all know Johnny says he is too old to be messing around with Keira...in POTC 1 commentary...he's like ..."I'm having to put my arm around a 17 year old girl...." and of course we all know he has commented on how uncomfortable he felt with the kissing scene in POTC 2, he says, "cuz she is an infant and I am a thousand years old..." Johnny is really hung up on their age difference....on the other hand....Keira was like "I thought it was great, exciting..." she seems very excited about the developments between Jack and Elizabeth...Johnny's kind of (his words) "disturbed by the developments between Jack and Liz"....but he's one hell of an actor...cuz it didn't how not one iota on the film....he looked very into her....come on, Johnny - give us what we want...you an actor and actor's should do things that make their fans happy...and we so want to see more hott scenes between you and Keira...it's only a movie, Johnny..come on Johnny and Disney...give us what we want....I am going crazy...I will be completely off my rocker by May 2007....I must find something else to occupy my mind...POTC 2 has taken over my life...

and they know that would piss people off..thats why they decided to put the kiss back into movie 2 once they had taken it out..they wanted to keep it out because it would screw up the pattern of the overall trilogy if it ended on a "meaningfull" kiss..
BUT the audience would feel PISSED and sold out if they didn't add a kiss..so instead they added one hot and steamy "meaningless kiss" and added another teaser kiss on top...This was to round off movie 2 as the teaser moment of the trilogy instead of a confirmed "she chooses who she kisses" ending..like in movie 1..if it was a "she chooses who she kisses" ending then that means movie 3 cant use the same pattern..and it would also mean that they gave the ending to th trilogy again before they even showed us movie 3..
the pissed off feeling the audience would feel without an ending kiss during movie 2..would be the same as the pissed off feeling the'll get if we were teased with a relationship and then denied it at the end..
I have a feeling that they were GOING to make it so Liz persuaded Jack to stay on the ship with her SWORD at the end of movie 2.. .thats why she mentions it in the earlier scene..but no the audience want to see a kiss since we saw the teaser kiss..so she did it with a kiss.."meaningless kiss" and then topped off with another what if Kiss
