Major Question

The only guy I can think of is Jim Caviezel.

Personally i think Clive Owen is all wrong for Superman, but thats just me... 😬

Clive Owen? The guy from Sin City? Hell no!

clive owen has the face structure of the jim lee version of superman plus he can always bulk up

I don't think he looks that much like the jim lee version at all... 😬

and i don't know why but clive owen has always looked slightly... i don't know.... evil? To me anyway...

idk thats just me... i mean ill always like tom welling as the #1 superman... then brandon routh

For me its Reeve, then Dean Cain (his clark wasnt the best, but his Superman was great imo). Routh and Welling don't come into it for me... 😬

I only watch Smallville cos its based on Superman...

DEAN CAIN?! Superman? those are years ive forgotten and have been happy to have forgotten. As you pointed out, his Clark was totally off base... and his Superman was too... whats the word? Oh yea...Lame. Plus is lacked any character depth... Same Superman every episode... never brought anything new

But i do agree with Reeve... he will always be THE superman... but I'm talking modern day. Welling is definately choice #1 and Routh is right there. Both have done phenomenal jobs as Clark Kent/Superman

But above all... i love the JLA: Unlimited Superman lol... jk jk

routh would be an even better charecter if he bulked up more, maybe if his physique mathched the new video game version of himself

Cain's Superman was consistent, he was confident, sure of himself, and a good hero... and he's not meant to change every episode... the only problem with Cain, imo, was that his Clark was every bit as sure of himself as his Superman...

But i do agree with Reeve... he will always be THE superman... but I'm talking modern day. Welling is definately choice #1 and Routh is right there. Both have done phenomenal jobs as Clark Kent/Superman

Please... phenomenal is just a bit of an overstatement... Routh is not modern because he's based on Reeve's Superman... how could he possibly be modern?

Welling is a boy... The only character on that show that even approaches Phenomenal is Lex...

But above all... i love the JLA: Unlimited Superman lol... jk jk

The animated Superman is f*cking awesome... if a bit underpowered at times, but still... awesome...

nah your just a welling hater... Hes 29 years old they make him seem younger for the show. He plays Clark down to the Tee. Very unsure about his powers, his purpose in his life, etc etc. Remember Superman doesnt really act like Superman until the moment he dons the cape. And thats how he is in all of his origin stories (except birthright he was alittle more sure of his purpose). Im sorry but quesioning Welling as Clark is kind of out of the question. Especially since in the Entertainment Weekly Poll, 76% Still want to see Welling as Superman even though Routh is the new one. And Routh did a good job in the movie. His Superman was on point but his Clark needs to stop trying to act like Reeve and develope his own Character. But also remember they all kind of have to act the same... being that his character is the SAME. Of course they are going to act similar. Dean Cain doesnt even cut it for me. Hes like 5'10-5'11. And he wasnt skinny or jacked. He just was there. A man in a suit. His Superman was so played out. I didnt show any acting skill whatsoever. And if he cant act like Clark at all.... then whats your argument. You cant compare a TV Superman vs. The Movie. Tell me you can sit through a Dean Cain Superman Movie. Blah. I certaintly cannot. But i could sit through a Tom Welling/Brandon Routh Superman movie anyday.

goes like this

Christopher Reeve
Tom Welling
George Reeves
Brandon Routh
Ed MsGuiness
Dean Cain

No, i just know an inadequate actor when i see one...

Hes 29 years old they make him seem younger for the show. He plays Clark down to the Tee.

He still looks too young, and i dont agree about his portrayal of clark...

Very unsure about his powers, his purpose in his life, etc etc.

That's Clark, not welling... he overdoes it big time...

Remember Superman doesnt really act like Superman until the moment he dons the cape.

Everyone knows that... but what people dont realise is that deep down he is Superman, its more the case that he doesnt act like Clark until he puts on the glasses...

And thats how he is in all of his origin stories (except birthright he was alittle more sure of his purpose).

Well Birthright, as far as i know, is canon...

Im sorry but quesioning Welling as Clark is kind of out of the question.

To you...

Especially since in the Entertainment Weekly Poll, 76% Still want to see Welling as Superman even though Routh is the new one.

The MTV generation also voted Hayden Christensen as best villain for the MTV awards. And besides, 77% of statistics are made up on the spot...

And Routh did a good job in the movie.

I know he did, but an impersonation, no matter how good, is still an impersonation...

His Superman was on point but his Clark needs to stop trying to act like Reeve and develope his own Character.

I thought his Clark was actually better than his Superman... 😬

But also remember they all kind of have to act the same... being that his character is the SAME. Of course they are going to act similar.

There's a difference between being similar and downright copying...

Dean Cain doesnt even cut it for me. Hes like 5'10-5'11. And he wasnt skinny or jacked. He just was there. A man in a suit.

His muscle, and the fact that he actually looked a decent age, more than made up for a couple of inches in height imo...

His Superman was so played out. I didnt show any acting skill whatsoever. And if he cant act like Clark at all.... then whats your argument.

I said myself, his clark wasnt great, but his superman was imo...

You cant compare a TV Superman vs. The Movie.

So why is welling mentioned so much?

Tell me you can sit through a Dean Cain Superman Movie. Blah. I certaintly cannot. But i could sit through a Tom Welling/Brandon Routh Superman movie anyday.

As should be obvious by now, you and i have VERY different ideas about what makes a good Superman...

goes like this

Christopher Reeve
Tom Welling
George Reeves
Brandon Routh
Ed MsGuiness
Dean Cain

Do you even know who Ed Mcguinness is? He's an artist, not an actor...

yea your not into the whole "character evolution" thing.

You actually think dean cain was better than the current supermen...

stop reading through every sentence of my posts and commenting on it. get a life.

and i forget what McGuiness' first name was... the Superman from World's Finest. he was def. better than Mr. Caine

P.S. Oh and so you know... im an intern for DC. One day ill be writing Superman. i hope ✅

Thanks...whoever you are. It expresses some of my thoughts as being a dual identity...I know one of me but not the other...could be a god, angel, or alien. My red cape is plain and anyone can wear it...temporally. That explains why I have so many idols, including myself which is completely unknown. This comment still relates to the subject of this thread because my name means my idea not me entirely.

i have no problem with character evolution... over the years superman (in the comics at least), has matured and evolved quite a bit, and its good...

cain didnt need to evolve that much, because he was already superman at the start, and yet,he did... he came to be more aware of what was around him and it changed him... his love for lois, his kryptonian heritage... he started off as someone quite comfortable with his powers, yet as time went on he came to resent his powers and what others had done with the same abilities...

welling's clark is still obsessed with lana... he hasnt gained any more confidence in his abilities, and he still falls over like some big sissy at the first sight of kryptonite... its been five seasons, he should be handling it better given how much he's been exposed to it... and this is just the character... welling is still the exact same as he was in season one, yet this is supposed to be the point in clark's life when he's constantly changing and developing...

You actually think dean cain was better than the current supermen...

He doesnt have much competition... you have a chris reeve impersonator (who i actually liked to a certain extent) and a whiny man-boy... yeah, the competition is sooo fierce... 😛

and i notice you said supermen, not clark... cain was far better at displaying the self confidence and belief that is an integral part of superman... routh was ok given what he had to work with, but welling is no superman...

I was commenting on each point... thats what a reply is for... if you don't like it then shorten your posts...

Alrighty...

Well i can tell you know, that'll be a dark day in the history of superman comics (assuming you are actually genuine)

uhh.. sure i agree completely? But redcaped you never answered the question (actually only one person did), if you were to direct a Superman movie who would you cast as Superman excluding the current Supermen? And yourself of course? Its a question that stumps me...

And pr1983 im done arguing with you. We could argue all day who is right and who is wrong but neither one of us are right. You definately need to get a life and stop following me around topic to topic (becuase you've quoted me on almost every topic ive posted anything on) for real. We are all entitled to our opinions and we are supposed to comment on our own opinions not quote EVERY little sentence someone else writes. Maybe once or twice, but not EVERY post i make. Its getting old. And a dark day in Superman history? lol ok... Have you seen any of my writings? Ive been a die hard Superman fan since I've been 5 and its my dream to write it one day. You've never even seen me write so how could you say something so uneducated. Check out my work on the Batman Forums or on SuperHeroHype.com/FanStories before you actually discredit my work. Becuase i have yet to get negative feedback and thats why DC employed me. Dont be naive. Stop bothering me thank you

REDCAPED for president!

JLA: Unlimited should be canon is the conclusion ive come to today haha

But please... can someone please give me an opinion on who they would liek to see as Superman. Known or Unknown actor or model please. Im trying to write a script but a Superman cast member is definately hard to cast. All props to Bryan Singer

Someone please give an opinion or input
