Detective is a good thing. But not a necessity for the JLA. The CSI wouldn't be useful if a giant space octupus is attacking New York now would it?

Disagree .... 9/10 batman is the guy who comes up with a way of beating even the greatest of threats

As I said, canonically you absolutely correct that Batman is essential since his mere presence reduces the IQ of everyone around him by 20 points....

Realistically, though? No. Not really....

😆 😆 Very true, but IMO, its still works really well. Batmans pretentious nature is needed for anysort of relationship building. He's a good tension catalyst, How manyt of the greatest JLA moments have involved Batman. For example, once in a while you can use his paranoia to create epics such as the Tower of Babel (Mark Waids run was extremely underated)

And realistically he shouldn't. Who would be more useful against a giant spaceworm devouring entire galaxies. A intelligent man with a batrope or a goddess?

Take Imperiux for example. Bats knew he was completely out of his league. So he left it up to Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the League to handle it.

He's good story telling but as far as facing cosmic threats? Not so much.

He's worth more than Wondy 😠

🤨

Cyclops is essential to the Astonishing X-Men. A) He's the goddamned tactical leader. B) While his power maybe "silly", it's potentially the most devastating and powerful attack the team has.

Havok is essential to the Uncanny team. He's the tactical leader and the ability to absorb all types of energy and blow just about anything up is pretty darned useful.

I agree with everything else except for Young Avengers. Patriot is less useful than Hawkeye. Hawkeye is more skilled, has more attack advantages and she's filthy rich. Patriot is poor...

I know i keep referring to the Morisson run, but IMO both Aquaman and Batman where depicted as more effective than WW. In JLA stories i've read (Which i admit only includes the most recent run) Wonder Woman most of the time ends up being a really hot punching bag.

Im glad you have used OWAW as an examle, because IMO its one of the worst comics ever written .... Batman was crucial linchpin in the WW3 and Crisis stories, both of which where of a far better quality that OWAW.

But in the end, isn't that the writers intention ? 🙂

WW serves as the magic forte of the Justice League. Something the League is severely lacking. Aquaman has experience in magic, but not nearly the experience required to be useful.

When the JLA comes across Harpies, or Gorgons or Norse Gods or anything to do with magic, they turn to her and put her on the frontlines.

Superman is quite useless against magic. GL has some rather difficulty with it. And none of the others can really help. Diana on the other hand can soak up magic attacks from Skyfather level gods like Cronos and shrug it off. She's rather immune to it.

So if the JLA ever faces the Midgard Serpent, she's leading and she's on the frontlines while protecting poor Superman's magically adverse butt...

WW3? He didn't do anything besides peptalk Superman. It was WW's Purple Ray device that saved the day.

Crisis? Somehow, Batman proved to be more proactive than Superman and WW who were too busy arguing with each other...

Ok, you persuaded me .... But i think i've made you agree that Bats is also necessary for good League story telling ? 🙂

This is going to cause contravesy but here goes ....
Astonoshing : Cyclops (Its a really, really silly power and although he's the leader he brings little in the way of personanlity to the team)

Sure...when's he's not being a parnoid a$$hole....

For the FF its pretty much imposible to replace a member. Each of the four brings somthing special to the team and thats what makes them such a great team. Reed is the brains, Sue is the soul, Ben is the heart and Johnny is the spirit.

Thats why im mad that Marvel might replace the team Post-CW. Its just not the FF without all the members.

But overall, they did ok without Ben.

For NA, I dont even count Ronin as a member.

Have to say Wolverine. I mean sure Tony says they need him to cross the line they cant, but overall, when you have Spidey on the team, you dont really need the Canuck ❌

I knew someone would show that scan .... What does prove, he can one shot a Sentinnel ????? I can think of about 20 X-me whou could do the same. He has the lamest power in the world end of story, even Emma thinks the same way.

I am starting to question your skills where in every thread you trash Wolverine and don't even make it funny like me to Superman

"Superman sucks!" isn't exactly the funniest thing I've heard on the forums, nor the most creative.
