The Boat

Is that because you found some of the vocabulary a little difficult?

'is'...'on'...'the' - in time, you will learn these words, too.

wow, what a stupid thing to say.

A. My post wasn't an insult

B. What you said was equally uninsulting, although you obviously tried.

C. Your reply was irrelevant to what I had posted. I hadn't found the vocabulary difficult, I had found the story pointless and uninteresting. Go crawl in a hole.

Why the hell would you bring disabled people aboard? They would just take up food and space...

It would be me and the beautiful girl sailing off into the sunset together.

I like the way this guy thinks.

Oh dear, I see I underestimated you; you know your alphabet! Well, 'A', 'B', and 'C', at least...

"crawl in a hole'...That hurt. Do I have to crawl in a hole, though? Could I just crawl in a house or something?

I like your answers there Deano...... 🙂

Yet No one mentioned the mass on the boat.........How many could a person put on there? Would that be important as well?

Re: The Boat

The baby can stay, as can the pregnant woman.
The child must also stay.
The scientist can stay as he/she is the closest thing to a doctor.
The food can stay as everyone needs to eat.
Both the Christian and Muslim can go because if they both stay they are likely to start fighting over which religion is the better religion.
The Priest can go because both the Christian and Muslim have gone.
The beautiful woman/man can go because beauty doesn't matter.
The gay couple don't have to stay-just because they are gay doesn't mean we should save em!
The captain has to stay to stear the ship.
The drunk can go as he is no use to anyone.
The dog will eat more food than anyone else, but can stay because the child might want a playmate.
The newly married couple can stay to go forth and procreate, all three disabled people can go-no offence to anyone-the stock holder can go as he is no use to anyone.
The single man can stay as he can find friendship with the pregnant woman.
The mother can stay to help deliver the unborn baby, the teacher must stay to deliver an education to the children, the leader of a country can go, as can the unemployed man-what can he offer?

There we go. 🙂

This is a question asked in many schools here.

If you only had one life boat, who would you save?

There is only room for a possible 12. But there are 30 people begging.....

Some are larger and would eat more than others.
Some are more important than others in many views.

Would size matter or would their role in society?

Hmmm. I am good under pressure, so I guess I could choose. Of course to make an accurate set of picks I would need to know variables - how far from land, how likely the rescue (that is how long we might be in the boat) whatever. Obviously if it is a "we need to get to that island and start again" it would be different from "we need to survive on the high seas for 3 days before rescue" and would those I left behind be sure to die? But anyway, the innitial picks would be based upon skills they can offer in the lifeboat, and some innitial "moral" ones.

So, the ones that make the cut:
The Captain - I know how to sail a boat and do it well, but I lack the experience a captain would have in this area.
A scientist - Hopefully their skills extend to medical matters.
A child - Yes, call me outdated, but the child makes it in.
A Mother - I am assuming it is the mother of the child or the baby.
A pregnant women - Two for the price of one.
A baby: (not sure they would even take up a whole boat space, and they wouldn't eat much)
More food - natural really.

Now, that is six spots taken - so 6 more available on the boat. I would then let these people draw straws, since descriptions like "single man" don't give me any reason to take/leave them, NOR do the descriptions give me enough info to give the a moral/skill reason to be on the boat.

A teacher
A Priest
A Leader of a country
A Huge Stock holder.
An unemployed person
A single man
A newly married couple.
The Gay couple.
A Christian
A Muslim
A Beautiful girl/man

Sadly, the following are left behind...

A learning disabled person: Harsh, but this is survival, and unless they have a skill to contribute, I can't give them a spot.
A mentally disabled person: Variable - kind of mental disability, special needs etc. make it not possible.
A physically disabled person - A crowded life boat, where everyone but the children must pull their weight - if it wasn't to serious I might change my mind, but as it is...
A dog - WTF?
A drunk - I fear the lifeboat will be unsuitable in dealing with a drunk going gold turkey.

here is my list of people that should go:

1. leader of a country-if he is anything like palpatine from star wars manipulative and cunning then that person would take advantage of this situation and would be a danger to all.

2. a drunk-this person would be a drag and is dangerous physically.

3. huge stock holder-it is obviously money is useless in this life or death situation and wall street is no where in sight.

4. unemployed person-probably won't do much good unless this person can come up with some skills.

5. all the disabled people-I wouldn't like it because it isn't right to leave these kind of helpless people to themselves but they will slow down the rest of the group because their handicap abilities is too much for this group too bear and not having the proper equipment can cause many people in this group to die just trying to save them. these people just won't survive in this kind of life and death situation.

6. a dog-well if these are one of these retarded dogs that do the opposite you tell them then this dog will probably jump in the water with a shark and become a decent meal. if these were one of these highly trained dogs then it would be a different story.

here is a list of people that should be on the bout:

1. the captain-any kind of experience with ships is good.

2. teacher-education is important

3. scientist-knowledge is power

4. priest-no doubt is needed in this situation

5. newlywed couple-procreation

6. pregnant woman-procreation

7. single man-procreation

8. beautiful girl/man might hook up with single man for procreation

9. mother-would be used as either a mother or midwife for the procreation babies.

10. baby-mother can handle this

11. a child-mother is the same here

12. a muslim-anything with religion

13. a christian-anything with religion

14. a gay couple-I don't know what they can contribute to, I guess they can start there own tribe and become a rival tribe.

15. more food-well obviously if the tribe wants to survive.

nope, the hole would work just fine.

Yet again, an unintelligible reply.

This whole endeavour is faulty.

Why does the unemployed man contribute nothing? Who says he isn't an unemployed doctor?

What if the 'single man' is unemployed?

Not to forget that there's apparently more food begging to be rescued...

no, because I'm placing myself in the situation, so I assume I'm one of them because it's the only one that really applies to me.

Drawing Straws for all of them sounds fairer...

Actually I did that, so here is who will be on the boat:

A teacher

A Priest

A Leader of a country

A Mother

An unemployed person

A Scientist

A baby

A single man

A learning disabled person

A mentally disabled person

A physically disabled person

The man of the newly married couple

A drunk

One of the Gay Couple ...have to draw straws for them, but well..they are kinda not possible to tell apart in this case
In case you are wondering why there are 13 on my boat...well...I was unfortunate enough to not be picked with the straws...I'm thinking about killing the baby though to take its place...we'll see. I think I can take it, it's a pretty well fed baby..but it's arms are still pretty small.

Neat idea Bardock....

Now, what if you could fit 22 in the boat if you went by size and weight alone....More people to save. Would that matter??

No it wouldn't...we draw strwas and then the people may go on the boat in order until it is full.

Besides, what you are saying hardly makes sense.

Sure it does from another view on how many lives you can save...

No, no, look, it doesn't make sense because ...because...wow, I can't count the ways in which it doesn't work..can someone point it otu to her?
